Selecting Fireplace Location Several options are available to you when choosing a loca- tion for your fi replace. This fi replace may be used as a room divider , installed along a wall, across a corner or used in an exterior chase.

General Information Fireplaces, as well as other woodburning appliances, have been used safely for many years. It has been our experience that most problems are caused by improper installation and operation of the fi replace.

Flue Damper The fl ue damper must be in full open position, and is oper- ated by moving the handle up toward the top of the fi replace. Before lighting the fi re, verify this by looking up from the in- side of the fi replace.

Place crumpled or twisted paper under the fi replace grate. Loosely arrange kindling or small pieces of wood to form a layer above the paper .
