LEFT HANDLEB AR CONTR OLS hdtopic000533_1 See Figure 2. Easy to operate while riding, audio controls are mounted on the left hand s witch housing on the left handgrip. For FLHX and FLHTC: The left hand audio control is an +/A UDIO/- switch. For FLHTCU and FL TR: The left hand audio controls are a +/A UDIO/- and a PTT +/SQ/- switch.
NO TE The PTT and +/SQ/- is f ound on the FLHTCU Ultra Classic and the FL TR Road Glide models. On the FL TR, this switch is inoperativ e unless the optional Intercom and Citizen Band transceiv er is installed. PTT : With the power ON and the LCD indicating CB is active , press and hold the PTT s witch to transmit ov er the channel displa yed.

Select a Frequency Band Using the right thumb, press the MODE SEL s witch on the right hand grip and release to cycle to the desired frequency band (mode) or press the soft ke y ne xt to the frequency band displa yed in the LCD to select a frequency band.
detect a weak FM stereo signal and automatically b lend it into a stronger FM mono signal. The tr ansition is smooth and flutter free because it occurs ov er a range of signal conditions , rather than at a minimum threshold.
SCAN T uning In SCAN, the radio continuously tunes from one strong station to the ne xt until the SCAN is cancelled. See F in Figure 4 . Press and hold the MODE SEL switch UP or DN appro ximately 5 seconds to scan the band for strong station signals. Each strong station remains tuned in f or 8 seconds bef ore the radio scans to the ne xt station.
LCD displa ys the word V olume and a bar graph that changes length with the volume . Press the MODE SEL UP or DN to cancel the A udio/Setup displa y or wait 5 seconds after the A UDIO switch is released, the displa y switches to the currently selected frequency band.

Adjusting Display Contrast See Figure 5 . Select Display from the A udio/Setup menu with the A UDIO switch. Press the A UDIO up ( + ) to increase or down ( - ) to decrease the contrast of the characters in the displa y . NO TE The contrast can be decreased to render the characters in vis- ible against the bac kground.
CD/MP3 OPERA TION hdtopic000537_1 The CD pla yer will accept commercial audio discs as well as compact discs recorded with MP3 (MPEG 2.5 Le vel III), files on compact disc read only (CDR) or compact disc read and write (CDRW) f or mats. There are no serviceable parts inside the unit; lea ve all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Disc Error 1 See B in Figure 6 . If the CD loaded into the CD play er is dam- aged, of incorrect f or mat, or if upside down, the LCD will displa y the Disc Error 1 message. Eject the CD . Refer to 2006 SOUND SYSTEM, Recommenda- tions f or Handling CDs.

cloud. Operating the CD without allowing the motorcycle to warm up can also cause a CD to skip. INTERCOM AND CITIZEN B AND WITH P ASSENGER SPEAKERS hdtopic000538_1 The FLHTCU suppor ts includes a digitally tuned 40 channel Citizen Band (CB) transceiv er , a rider/passenger intercom.
Do not pull on the cord to remo ve the headset from the socket. Pull on the headset jack to disconnect the headset from the soc ket. (00174a) The spring loaded hinge keeps the headset sock et cap closed while riding. It protects against dir t and water when the headset or hand-held microphone is not in use.
V O X MICROPHONES hdtopic000552_1 The Harley-Davidson intercom uses a v oice-activated (V O X) microphone f or hands-free intercom operation. The headset microphone minimizes the transmission of hand-held micro- phone generated noise.

SIDECAR CONTROLS hdtopic000540_1 See Figure 10 . A MODE/+/TUNE/- press and tilt switch, a PTT/+/V OL/- press and tilt switch and a headset soc ket are mounted on the dash of the TLE Ultra sidecar for the FLHTCU . These controls and stereo speakers of the sidecar are con- nected to the Advanced A udio System through a wire har ness.

Adjusting V O X Sensitivity V O X sensitivity should be adjusted so that the microphones break VO X at a nor mal voice le v el. Enter Intercom Setup by pressing the INT b utton. Press the ON or 1 soft ke y to turn the intercom on. See G in Figure 11 .
Set intercom v olume level and other controls bef ore riding to minimize adjustments on the road. Distractions can lead to loss of control, resulting in death or serious injury . (00088a) Adjusting P assenger Headset V olume The passenger intercom volume is only adjustab le in Intercom Setup .
There are no adjustments internal to the CB transceiver chassis that can be perf ormed without risking non-compli- ance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules. Refer to the original equipment manufacturer f or any service required during the warranty period.
Adjusting Squelch See K in Figure 11 . The CB signal is passed to the speakers or headsets only if signal strength e xceeds the threshold set with the squelch control s witch ( PTT/+/SQ/- ). When CB signals e xceed the threshold, they are said to "break squelch.
T errain: Buildings, hills, v alleys or any ele v ated objects or depressions that either bloc k or create a longer path between transmitter and receiv er will reduce or disrupt communications. Obstructions: T ransmissions ma y be cut off under a viaduct or inside a tunnel or parking garage.
