Introduction 1 1 Chapter 1 Introduction The GV -SNVR0400F / GV -SNVR1600 is a Linux-embedded S tandalone Network Video Recorder which records v ideo f iles directly to the internal hard drive, supporting up to 4 / 16 channels of GV -I P Cameras for network surveillance.

For system ef f iciency , it is recommended to use the ente rpr ise-level hard disk drives instead of desktop-level or g reen HDD.

Getting S tarte d 11 2 Chapter 2 G etting S t arted 2.1 Inst all ati on 2.1.1 GV -SNVR0400F The GV -SNVR0400F uses SA T A hard drive for video data storage. Before recording, be sure to install the hard drive. Inst alling the Hard Driv e Follow the steps below to install the hard drive to the GV - SNVR0400F .

Getting S tarte d 13 2 2.1.2 GV -SNVR1600 The GV -SNVR1600 uses SA T A hard drive for video data s torag e. Before recording, be sure to install the hard drive. Inst alling the Hard Driv e Follow the steps below to install the hard drive to the GV - SNVR1600.
14 3. Align the mounting bracket with the holes inside the unit. Figure 2-8 4. Tighten the 4 screw s on the side of the hard drive. Figure 2-9 5. Connect the SATA Power Cable and Data Cable to the hard drive.
Getting S tarte d 15 2 6. To install more HDDs, repeat the steps above. 7. Place the cover bac k and tighten the screw s. The hard drive is now re ady for use. Inst alling the L-Shap ed Bracket s Tighten the 6 screw s to secure and attach the 2 L -shaped brackets to each side o f GV-SNVR1600.

Getting S tarte d 17 2 Note: 1. The GV-SNVR is DHCP enabled. When it is connected to the netw ork, it will be automatically assinged an IP address. 2. For GV - SNVR1600, the monitor used f or VGA output must be capable o f having a screen resolution of 1080p.
18 2.3 Setting Up GV -IP Camera After installing the IP ca mer as under the same LAN w ith t he GV -SNVR, you can now add the cameras to GV -SNVR . 2.3.1 Au tomaticall y Se tting Up GV -IP Camera T o automatically set up the IP cameras, follow the steps below .
Getting S tarte d 19 2 IMPOR TANT : 1. By def ault, GV -IP Cameras use the IP address 19 2.168.0.10 . T he GV -SNVR will automat ically assign unused IP addresses to these ca meras to avoid IP address conflict with others under the same LAN. 2. The GV -SNVR connects to the IP cameras with the default ID and passw ord admin .
20 2.3.2 Manuall y Connecti ng GV -IP Camera T o manually add the GV -IP Camera to the camera list, follow the steps below . 1. On the Ca mera p age, cli ck the A dd Cameras button . 2. T ype the IP Address, Username and Password of the desired IP camera.

Getting S tarte d 23 2 W hen the hard drive is successfully formatted, its icon should be mar k ed with a green tick , and the “Normal” message appears. The information of operating temperature, hard drive status and total time in use is also displayed.

Y ou can click the Division button ( No. 5, Figure 2-23) and selec t 1 or 4 Division . Optionally , click on the live view of desired camera to sw itch to full screen.
28 2.8.2 Audio T o enable the audio function on live video, follow the steps below . Note: T o l isten to the a udio , make su re the E nable A udio function is applied f or the camera. For details, see 3.1 Camera . 1. Click the live view of the desired camera to switch to f ull screen.

The PTZ control panel appears a t the low er-right corn er of the li ve view . Note: The option is only available for the cameras suppor ting PTZ functions.

32 Enable A udio: Click t o enable audio streaming. Motion A rea: Draw up to 8 areas with dif f erent sensitivity values on the image for motion detection. Motio n Sen sitiv ity: Configure the sensi tivity value from 1 to 10 for the motion detection.

34 3.3 Netw ork The Network section includes basic network con f igurations that enable the GV -SNVR to be connected to the network. By default, the GV - SNVR is assigned with a dynamic IP address when connecting to the n etwork. [LA N] Figure 3-4 IP Config urat ion: Select DHCP or Stat i c according to y our network environment.

36 [DDNS] DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) provides a convenient way of accessing the GV - SNVR when using a dynamic IP address. DDNS assigns a domain name to the GV - SNVR, so you do not need to go through the trouble of checking if the IP address assigned by DHCP Server or ISP (in xDSL connection) has changed.

44 Chapter 4 Video Playback The timeline player plays back recorded video w ithout af fecting r ecording. 54 5.1.5 Di gital PTZ Contr ol In non -PTZ ca meras , the Digita l PTZ (DPTZ ) func tion al low s you to simulat e the P TZ movement on the screen. This function is also supported in PT / PTZ cameras. Note: The Digital PTZ function is not supported in the 16-division display .

Remote A ccess to the GV -SNVR 57 6 Chapter 6 Advanced A pp li cations 6.1 Upgrading S ystem Firmware GeoVision periodically release the updated f irmware on the Website. Y ou can upgrade the firmware using an USB storage drive of F A T 32 format. T o upgrade the f irmware, follow the steps below .
58 6.2 Using the GV -IP De vice Utility The GV -I P Dev ice Utilit y detects all the GV -IP Dev ices in the LAN and allows you to quickly set up the IP address of the device, upgrade firmw are and export/ import device settings. For details, see GV -I P Device Utility Installation Guide on the Software CD/DVD.
Remote A ccess to the GV -SNVR 59 6 6.2.3 Upgr ading S y stem Firmware You can also use the GV-I P Device Utility to upgrade firmware of multiple GV-SNVR at t he same time. Note the computer used to upgrade firmware must be under the same LAN with the GV- SNVR.
