1 . Introduction Thank you for purchasing ScanSnap Or ganizer . This product is a software application that di splays PDF files and JPEG f iles in a catalog for sorting. ScanSnap allo ws you to previe w scanned images without opening the f iles, create folders for dif ferent subjects and sort the files.
Use in High-safety Applications This product has been designed and manufactured on the assumption that it will be used in office, personal, domestic, regular industrial, and general-purpose applications.

2 . Using ScanSnap Organizer This chapter explains ho w to use ScanSnap Organizer . 2.1. S tarting ScanSnap Organizer 1. From the [S t art] menu, select [A ll Programs] -> [Sc anSnap Organizer] -> [ScanSnap Organizer]. => The ScanSnap Or ganizer window appears.
2.2. Operating Window ScanSnap Organizer uses the follo wing window . Menu Bar T oolbar Displays the me nu used in S napSnap Organizer . Frequently-use d functions are indicated by icons. Folder View File View Folders selected in ScanSnap Organizer are displayed.
2.2.1. Menu Bar File Open Starts the associated application and opens the selected file. (Example: For a PDF f ile, [A dobe Acrobat] is started.) New Cabinet : Creates a ne w Cabinet directly under [My ScanSnap] folder . Folders or f iles can be stored inside it.
Vie w File Name Sho ws the file name under the displayed thumbnail when the check box is selected. Pop-up Thumbnail Sho ws the thumbnail when you select the file. Format Changes the display of File V ie w to eith er Large, Medium, Small, or T op Thumbnail vie w .
8 T ools Options [General Settings] tab ● My ScanSnap folder: Specifies the location of My ScanSnap folder when ScanSnap Organizer is started. The specified folder and the sub-folders can be displayed by ScanSnap Or ganizer .
2.2.2. T oolbar New Cabinet: Creates a Cabinet in Folder vie w . New Folder: Creates a Folder in Folder vie w . Folders cannot be created under [My ScanSnap] folder . Also, if a ne w folder is created direc tly under [My ScanSnap] folder in other programs such as W indo ws Explorer , it is sh o wn as [Cabinet] in ScanSnap Organizer .

Mouse Operations Point to the Thumbnail image A lar ger Thumbnail is displayed in a pop-up windo w . Click the Thumbnail image The file is selected. The assoc is opened. (E.g.: In PDF’ s case, “ Ado be Acrobat” is started.) The file name can be changed.
2.3. Connecting to ScanSnap This section explains ho w to use ScanSnap Orga nizer to display and a rrange images scanned by ScanSnap. 2.3.1. Prep aring 1. Right-click the [ScanSnap Manager icon] on the T askbar , and choose [Settings] from the menu that appears.
13 2.3.2. Scanning 1. Load the document onto the scanner . 2. Press the [SCAN] button. => Scanning is started. When scanning stops, "ScanSnap Organizer" starts, and the scanned image is displayed as a thumbnail. The scanned image is saved in the folder s pecif ied in [My SnapSna p Folder] on the [Option Settings] window .
2.3.3. Sorting Files This section explains the procedure to create a ne w Cabinet and folder , and ho w to move scanned files to the Cabinet and folder .
5. Enter a Folder name. In case you want to change the name once it is decided, select the name you want to change and click it. Or , select the name an d then select [Rename] on the [File] menu. 6. Repeat S tep s 4, 5 to create folders as needed. As an example, create tw o folders named [July 2004] and [August 2004].
2.4. Copying/Moving This section explains ho w to copy/mov e files a nd folders to other Cabinets or fol ders in [My ScanSnap] folder . 1. Select the files you want to copy or move in File V iew . In case of folders, select in Folder V iew . ● Y ou can select several files at one time when you press and hold do wn the [Ctrl] key .
2.5. Importing Files This section explains ho w to copy f iles in fo lders other than [My ScanSnap] folder to any Cabinet or folder in [My ScanSnap] folder . 1. In Folder V iew , select the Cabine t or folder you want to copy to. (Files will be copied here.
2.6. Exporting Files This section explains ho w to copy f iles in [M y ScanSnap] folder to a folder other than [My ScanSnap] folder . 1. In File V i ew , select the file. => The selected f ile is shown in a red frame. 2. Select [ Export ] on the [File] menu, or click the icon on the T oolbar .
2.7. Printing This section explains ho w to print the selected f iles using a printer . 1. In File V i ew , select the file. 2. Select [ Print ] on the [File] menu, or click the icon on the T oolbar . => The selected f ile is printed using a printer .
2.9. Deleting This section explains ho w to delete unnecessary Cabinets, folders, F older Links, and files. 1. Select the Cabinet, folder , Folder Link, and file you want to delete. When deleting Cabinets, folders, and Fol der Links, use Folder V iew; when deleting files, use File V ie w .
2.10. Up dating In an effort to improve the usability and func tionality of ScanSnap Organizer, program updates are carried out timely. ScanSnap Organizer can automatically detect whether the latest program (Update Pack) is available and update the program.
22 3. Click the [Install] button. When you click the [Informatio n] button, Inter net Explorer opens and infor mation about the latest update for ScanSnap Organizer appears. => Installation starts, and the “W elcome to InstallShield W izard for ScanSnap Organizer” windo w appears.
