9 Calibration Each channel of the 1529 is cali brated independently of the other channels and has its o wn set of calibration parameters. The 1529 should be calibrated at reg - ular intervals t o ensure that it continues to measure with proper accuracy .
The calibration parameters C0, C100, and C400 can be adjusted to opti mize the accuracy . These password-protected parameters are accessed from the CALI - BRA TION function of the SYSTEM menu. 9.1.2 PR T Calibration Procedure Calibration requires adjustment of the C0, C100, and C400 parameters at three specific i nput resistances.
3. Connect a 400 Ω resistor (6 ppm accuracy) to the input and measure its resistance. Note the av erage error in the measurement. Adjust the C400 parameter by subtracting the measured error. F or example, if the input is exactly 400.0000 Ω and the readout shows 399.
2. Connect a 10 k Ω resistor (25 ppm accuracy) to the input and measure its resistance. Note the av erage error in the measurement. Adjust the C10K parameter by subtracting the measured error. F or example, if the input is exactly 10.00000 k Ω and the readout shows 10.
Par ameter Description C0 Adjust s the vol tage accuracy of at 0 m V C100 Adjusts the v oltage accuracy of at 100 mV CRJ Adjusts the internal RJC accuracy D A TE Records the date the thermocouple chan.
sured error . For e xample, if the thermocouple temperature is actually 0.0°C but the 1529 reads 0.184°C, the CRJ parameter should be adjusted by subtracting 0.184. If it was previously 0.000 it should now be –0.184. 6. Record the date with the D A TE parameter .
10 Maintenance • The calibration instrument has been designed with the utmost care. Ease of operation and simplicity of maintenance have been a central theme in the product development. Therefore, with proper care the instrument should require very little maintenance.

Problem Solution Incorrect resi stance or voltage reading While attempti ng to measure resistance or voltage, the display shows an incorr ect value or no value at all ( ..........) . Consider the follo wing possibilities: Poor or incorrect connecti on of the probe.
Message Recommended Action SYSTEMS: IR POR T F AILURE Cycle the power . SYSTEMS: BA TTER Y NOT INST ALLED Cycle the pow er . Check that t he battery is properly connected. Replace the battery . CHANNELS: F AILURE Cycle the pow er . CALIBRA TION: DUE FOR RECAL Check that the instrument date is correct.
a) Set up the terminal program to use the correct COM port and baud rate. Conf igure the communicat ion settings to use 8 data bits, 1 st op bit, no parity and no flo w control. b) If you want to sa ve the do wnloaded data to a file, conf igure your ter - minal program to capture the inco ming text and sa ve it to a text f ile.
The instrument was designed specif ically as a test and measuring device. Com - pliance to the EMC di recti ve is t hrough IEC 61326-1 Electrical equipment for measur ement, contr ol and laborat ory use – EMC r equir ements (1998). As noted in the IEC 61326-1, the instrument can ha ve va rying confi gurations.
4. Ho w long does the battery last from full char ge? About 8 hours from full charge with the backlight off. 5. Ho w do I know when the battery is at full charge? The charging indica - tor LED located on the back panel displays amber while charging and then turns green when the batteries are fully charged (only when the AC adapter is connected).
2. What are the implications of the fast measurement mode in terms of ac - curacy? Accuracy is reduced when using the Model 1529 in fast mea - surement mode. Refer to Section 8.1.1 for a better description of the f ast measurement mode and its limitations.
11.5.4 Output 1. Ho w do I get data from the Model 1529 to my PC? Data can be trans - ferred to your PC via an RS-232 interf ace or by IR communications through the use of the optional IR dongle and software available through Hart.
