1 W elcome t o AquaSmar t™ Thank you for buying a Fisher & P aykel A quaSmar t™ clothes washer . We are ver y proud of this washer and trust it will serve you w ell for man y years . At Fisher & Paykel we aim to provide innovative products tha t are simple to use, ergonomic and k ind to the en vironment.

3 Installation instructions W ater supply This clothes washer should be plumbed into both a hot and cold water supply otherwise some cycles ma y not function correctly . F or best operating conditions your hot water should be appro ximately 65˚C. Y our hot wat er should not ex ceed 75˚C or your cold water ex ceed 35˚C.
4 Installation instructions Clothes washer saf ety This clothes washer is not intended for use by y oung children or infirm persons without supervision. Y our AquaSmart™ can only be opened during the initial fill stage. Once the fill is complete, the lid will be locked for safety r easons.
5 Before y ou do your rst wash Y ou owe it t o yourself and your AquaSmart™ to have it installed correctly by an authorised service agent. Before you star t, it is a good idea to go through the f.
6 Getting star ted quickly It is important to sort your clothes, par ticularly by colour , as well as separating out sheets and washing them on the SHEE TS cycle (r efer t o page 9 for more details on sor ting and loading). Close bra clasps , do up zippers and check pockets.
7 Getting star ted quickly 1 PRESS POWER to activate your A quaSmart™ wash er . 2 Select the desired W ASH CYCLE that most closely matches your wash load .
The AquaSmart™ w asher has two modes of washing, High Efficienc y and Conventional . Both modes start the same way , with a Detergent Activating w ash. Detergent Activating wash AquaSmart™ fills the bowl at the selec t ed water temperature , with just enough water so the clothes are satur ated.
9 F ully automatic water level Y ou may notice that your AquaSmart ™ clothes washer behaves differently from y our previous washer . Y our AquaSmart ™ , like all H igh Efficiency washers , has a fully aut omatic water level. This means that, like F ront Loaders, the selection of the water level is left entirely up to the washer .
10 So rti ng Care labels Care labels will tell you about the fabric of the garment and how it should be washed. Soil Sor t clothes according to the type and amount of soil. Some soils suit warmer washes, eg. oily soils, while others are best w ashed in cold water , eg.
11 Choosing the right detergent Y our AquaSmart™ is a H igh Efficiency clothes washer and needs Low Sudsing Det ergent to prevent oversudsing problems. This is the same type of deter gent Front Loaders use and are labelled, “Lo ws Suds” , “Matic” or “High Efficiency ” .
12 F abric softener Choosing the right cycle If y ou wish to use fabric sof t ener you will need to select the SOFTENER option which will give you a deep rinse. If SOFTENER is not selected, the fabric softener will not be dispensed . Adding the fabric softener Measure sof t ener out into the cap and pour into the fabric softener dispenser .
13 W ash cycles explained Regular Regular – High Efficienc y Mode F or normally soiled everyday c otton loads, eg. t owels , t-shir ts, shorts, shirts. Regular – High Efficienc y Mode O ff F or ever y day loads wher e ex tr a water is an advantage.

16 Simply increase or decrease your wash temper ature by pressing the TEMPERA TURE button to scroll through the options available . Note: T he temperature option selects the temper ature of the first phase of the two-par t wash system, the Detergent Activating W ash.
17 Changing the wash cycle options W ash cycle options explained Delay Star t The Delay Start option allow s you t o delay the start of the wash cycle for 1, 3 or 9 hours. This can be useful to time your washing to finish when you arrive home from work, or to star t once you hav e finished in the shower .
18 Note: If you wish to change any of the wash options while your AquaSmart™ is running please press ST ART/P A USE then select the required option. Auto dra in Unsupervised clothes washers filled with water can present a drowning hazard t o small children.
19 T o customise a cycle Y ou can program your Aqu aSmart™ to remember the wash options you pr efer f or each wash cycle. For instance, you may wan t to set the R egular cycle to a cold wash. 1 Press POWER. 2 Press the wash cycle button. 3 Select your wash options, (eg.
20 Option A djustment mode After using your AquaSmart™ y ou may want to fine tune some of the options to suit your wash needs. There are a number of preset options , which can be altered. The wash t emperatures . The rinse option. Changing the cold wash to Controlled Cold.

22 Changing pre-set options End of C ycle Beeps 1hr light No beeps 3hr light 5 beeps 9hr light 15 beeps End of C ycle beeps The number of beeps that signal the end of the cycle can be altered. Choose between no beeps, five or fif teen beeps. The DELA Y ST ART butt on adjusts the cycle sig nal setting.
23 Out-of-Balance rec overy routine When your AquaSmar t™ is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out-of-balance and will stop and re-tr y spinning up to 3 times. If it still senses an unbalanced load there ar e two options the machine can take.
24 Contr ol P anel Lighting The panel lighting of your A quaSmar t™ washer can be adjusted t o suit the environment that it is located in. F or a low ligh ting situation y ou may need more lighting c ontrast and f or installations where there is a lot of ambient light, you may need less.
25 When you have finished the c y cle T urn off the taps to prevent the chance of flooding should a hose burst. Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Cleaning your A quaSmar t™ Before you star t cleaning your A quaSmart™ washer , ensure that it is turned off at the wall .
26 Cleaning your low profile agitator If y our low profile agitator becomes stained we recommend you use household bleach to clean it. Ensure y ou wear gloves, tip a small amount of household bleach onto a soft cloth and apply to the stain. Be careful to avoid metal sur faces of y our machine.
27 Unsure about what the best wa y is to wash your garment? T ry these handy tips for some of those tricky washing challenges: A Allergy If you or someone in y our household has allergies we would suggest using a separate cycle to wash bedding and clothing.
28 D Damp I t ems A simple spin only cycle is handy for spinning out damp items bef ore drying . Adva nce cycle to SPIN using the ADV ANCE butt on. Delicates F or clothing that requires a more gentle approach choose the DELICA TE cycle.
29 J Jackets T o care for bulk y jackets choose the BULKY c y cle. Jeans These items can quickly lose their colour . F or best results we recommend that you w ash jeans using the C OLOURS cycl e to minimise any potential colour loss.
30 T T ablecloths W e recommend using the SHEE TS cycle to properly care for lar ge flat items such as table cloths. Choose SHEETS cycle. T ea T owels T o ensure that bacteria is remov ed from items such as tea towels we recommend that you wash these items on the a HO T , REGUL AR, HIGH EFFICIENCY c ycle .
31 Please r ead the follo wing pages befor e you call for service. Y ou can correc t many of your machine ’ s problems y ourself , using the checklists on the following pages. Y our AquaSmart™ is capable of diagnosing its own problems and if it has a problem it will beep and display a message telling y ou what is wrong.
32 The COLD water temperature light is flashing . Check that the cold water supply has been turned on. Y our cold water t emperature ma y exc eed the rec ommended limits (ref er to Installation instruc tions pages 2 – 4). Check that the inlet hose filter is not blocked.
33 Pressing POWER does not turn on machine. Is the pow er switched on at the wall? Unplug from wall . Wait 60 seconds, plug back in, turn on and try again. Could household po wer supply be at fault? T r y plugging in another appliance. Pressing ST ART/P A USE does not star t the fill .
34 W ash CY CLE TIME longer than usual. If w ater pressure is low , c y cle time will increase due to longer fill times. Ensure that inlet hose filters are not blocked. Y our machine may hav e initiated W ash Recovery Mode where it has sensed your load is washin g unevenly .
35 CREASING. W as the washer or dr yer overloaded? Selecting the EASY IR ON cycle will minimise creasing. T r y not to leav e wet clothes sitting in the washer or laundry basket. LINTING. W as the washer overloaded? W ash lint giv ers, eg . tow els, separately from lint rec eivers, eg.
