Scanning in Oce Mode When you s ele ct Oce Mo d e , the EPSON Scan Oce Mo d e window is disp layed. Fo r detailed setting instructions, see the EPSON Scan help. 1. Place your o riginal. 2. Start EPSON Scan. 3. Se le ct Oce Mode fro m the Mode list.

6. In the Destinatio n b ox, select the way yo u plan to use the scanned images. ❏ Screen/W eb : for im age s yo u on ly v i ew on a compute r s c ree n or po st on t he web. ❏ Printe r : for images y ou print o r convert to edi table te xt with an OCR (Optical Character Recognitio n) prog ra m.
11. S elect the name, locat ion, and image fo r mat type of your saved scan l es, and so on in the Fi l e S a v e S e tt i n g s wind o w , an d cl ick OK . EPSON Scan starts scanning, and saves the scanned imag es and so on , accor ding to the set tings selected in the Fi l e S a v e S e t t i n g s window .
Scanning in Professional Mode When you s ele ct Professi ona l Mod e , the Profes sion al Mo de window is dis played. F or detailed setting instructions, see the EPSON Scan help.
2. Start EPSON Scan. 3. Select Professi ona l Mo d e fro m the Mo d e list. 4. Click the arr ow in the A ut o Ex posur e T ype list, and then sele ct Ph oto or Do cume nt . 5. Click the arrow to open the Imag e T y p e list, and then s elect the detail ed image type yo u are scanning.
11. Select the name, location, image f ormat type, and so on fo r yo ur saved scan les in the Fi l e S a v e S e t t i n g s window , and then click OK . EPSON Scan starts scanning, and saves the scanned imag es and so on , accor ding to the set tings selected in the Fi l e S a v e S e t t i n g s window .
Image Adjustment Features for Photos: Auto Ex p osu re Automatically optimizes the exposure for an image. The gamma, highlight, and shadow se ttings ar e automatic ally set. T h is function is always on in all modes except Professional Mode . In Pr ofessional Mode you can turn o this function for advanced users.
Unsharp Mask T urn on to make th e edges of image areas clearer for an overall sharper image. Ava il ab l e i n Oce Mode and Professiona l Mode . Y ou can adjust the level of sharpness in Professional Mode . T urn o if you do not want to emphasize edges.
Image Adjustment F eatures for Documents: Descreening Removes the rippled pattern that can appea r in subtly shaded image areas, such as skin tones . Also improv es results when scanning magazine o r newspape r images that include screenin g in their original print pr ocesses.

Scanning Special Projects Using the Scanner as a Copier Y ou can use your scanner with a p r inte r connected to y our co mp uter just as yo u would use a copy m a chine. 1. Place your o riginal. 2. Press the button on th e s c an ner . e Copy U tility w indow and the EPSON Scan window are displayed.
4. If the EPSON Scan window is still open aer sc anning the document, click Clo se . e scanne d image is displayed in the C opy U tility main window . 5. Check the scanned image and t hen rotat e it using the th umbnail too l if necessar y . 6. When yo u have nished checking the image, click .
❏ Specifying the n umber of pag es in a single PDF le: Y ou can s pecify the maximum n umber of pag es that can be included i n one PDF l e. For ex amp le, if y ou are scanning a 20-pag e document, and specify the page n umber to be incl uded in one PD F as 4, then 5 PDF les ar e auto mat ically created.

Maintenanc e Cleaning the Scanner T o keep your scanner in optimum operating condition, clean it per iodic ally using the following procedure. c Impor t ant: ❏ N ever use alco ho l, thi nner , or an y corr osive so lven t to clea n the sca nner . ese chem icals ca n dama ge the sca nner com ponen ts and t he case.
4. If th e document mat gets dirty , clean i t with a so dry cloth. If the document mat is ver y dirt y , dampen a so cloth with mild det ergen t and water , wr ing it out tho roughly , and then wipe o an y remaining stain s . Aer that, use a so dr y clo t h to wipe the mat.

Document C apture (Mac OS X) is application al lows yo u to rearrange pages o r correct ro tation for im age data, and then save the data, send it by email, send i t to a ser ver , or send it to a clo ud ser v ice. Y ou can also regist er f requen tly used scanning settings to simplify scanning operations.
