Placing Originals on the Sc anner Glass c Impor t ant: When plac ing bulky orig inals such a s books , prevent ex ter ior lig ht from shinin g directly onto the scanner g lass. 1. Open t he doc ument co ver . 2. Remov e an y dust or stains o n the scanner glass.
If y ou ar e scanning using Ful l Aut o Mo d e or a th u mbnail p review of EPSO N Scan, place the original 4.5 mm away from the ho rizon tal and vertical edges of the scanner glass. Not e: ❏ Place multiple photos at least 2 0 mm apar t f rom each other .

3. Select Pri nt from the Fil e menu or another c ommand to ac cess t he printer dr iver window . If n ec es s ar y , cli ck Show De tails or d to expand the print window . 4. Make the fo llowing settings. ❏ Prin ter: S elect yo ur prin ter . ❏ Preset: Selec t when you wan t to use the registered settings.
5. Select Pri nt S e ttings from the pop-up menu. Not e: On Mac OS X v10.8.x or later , if the Print Settings men u is not d ispl a yed, th e Ep son pri nt er dri ver has no t been install ed cor rectly .
Printing on 2-Sides (f or Windo w s only) e printer d river prints automatic ally s epar ating ev en pages and odd pages. When the prin ter has nished printing the o dd pages, ip the paper over following the in structions to print the even pages.

1. Prepare Sh eet 1 and Sheet 2. Cu t o the margins of Sheet 1 alon g the vertical blue line through the center of the top and botto m cross marks. 2. Place the edg e of S heet 1 o n to p of S heet 2 an d align the cr oss marks, then tem p orarily tape the two shee ts tog ether fro m the back.
3. Cu t the taped sheets in two alo ng the v ertical red lin e thro ugh the alignme nt marke rs (this time, th e line t o the le of the cr oss marks). 4. T ape the sh eets to ge th er fr om th e bac k. 5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to tape Sheet 3 and S heet 4 tog ether .
6. Cu t o the mar gins o f Sh eet 1 and Sh eet 2 alo ng the h orizo n tal bl ue line thr ough the cen ter of the le and righ t side cross m arks. 7. Place the edge of Sheet 1 and Sheet 2 on top of Sh eet 3 and Sheet 4 and align the cross marks, and then tem por arily tape them tog ether fr om the back.

Prin ting from Smar t Devic es Using Epson iPrint Ep son iPrin t is an applicatio n that allo ws you to prin t pho tos, documents, and W eb pages fro m a smart device such as a smartpho ne or tab let.
B Displays information on how to setup the pr inter and a F AQ . C Displays the screen where you can select the printer and make pr inter settings. Once you have selected the printer , you do not need to select it again from the next time . D Select wha t you want to print such as photos, documents, and web pages.

Sc anning Scanning from the C ontrol P anel Y ou can save the sc anned image in PDF fo rmat to a comp uter which is connected to the printer with a US B cable. c Impor t ant: M ake sur e you ha ve installed EPSON Sca n and Epson E vent Ma nager on your com pu ter before usin g this fea tur e .
3. Select Hom e Mo d e from th e Mod e list. 4. Make the fo llowing settings. ❏ Document T ype : Select the type of the original yo u want to scan. ❏ Imag e T yp e: Select the color type of the imag e you want to scan. Scanning Using Adv anc ed F eatures Scanning by Detec ting the Origin al Aut omatically (F ull Auto Mode) Y ou can start scanning b y simp ly placing the original and clic king Sca n .
Scanning at Specied Sizes (Oce Mode) Y ou can scan originals at the specied size witho ut p reviewing the image. Select Oce M o de fr om the Mod e list in EPSON Scan.
Scanning by Adjusting the Imag e Quality (Prof essional Mode) Y ou can scan images while adjus ting the quality and co lo r . is mode is recommended for advanced users.
Scanning from Smar t Device s Ep son iPrin t is an ap plication that allo ws yo u to scan pho tos and documents fr om a sm art device, such as a smartpho ne o r tablet, that is co nnected t o the same wir eles s netwo rk as your prin ter . Y ou can save the scanned data on a smart dev ice or to Cloud ser vices, se nd it b y email, or prin t it.
H Displays the screen where you can save scanned data to a smar t device or Cloud ser vices. I Displays the screen where you ca n send scanned data by email.
Replacing Ink Ca r t ridges Checking the Ink Lev els Y ou can check the appr oximate ink levels fro m the comp uter . Checking the Ink Lev els - W indows 1. Access the printer driver window . 2. Click EPSO N Stat us Mo nito r 3 on t he Maintenanc e tab .

❏ Do not remove the transparent seal from the bottom o f the cartr idge; other wise, the cart ridge may be come unusab le. ❏ Do not to uch the sections sh own in the illustratio n. Doing so may p reven t no rmal operation and prin ting. ❏ In stall all ink cartridges; other wise you canno t prin t.
❏ T o ensur e yo u receiv e pr emium print quality and to help p rotect yo ur prin t head, a variable ink safety reserve remains in the cartr idge when your p rin ter indicates to replace the cart ridge. e yields quoted f or yo u do not include this reser ve.
❏ If t he B ligh t ashes Press t he y bu tto n for six seconds un til the print head mo ves. e ink cartri dge that is running low mo ves to the icon. I f there are mo r e ink cartr idges running low , the car tridge moves to the icon ev er y time you pr ess the y button.
4. When r eplacing the b lack ink cartridge, gen t ly shake the new black ink cartridge four o r ve times and then remove it from its pa cka ge. When repl ac ing ot he r c olor car trid ges, remo ve the new color car trid ges from their package witho ut shakin g.
6. Squee ze the tab on the ink car tri dge and pull it straight up . If you cannot r emove the ink cartr idge, pull it rmly. 7. In sert the new ink cartridge, an d then p ress i t do wn rmly. 8. Close t he scanner unit. 9. Press the y button. Ink ch arging s tarts.
c Impor t ant: Ae r installing the ink car tr idge, the power light continues to a sh whil e the printer is charging ink. D o not tur n o the pr inter dur ing i nk c harg ing. Ch arg ing takes ap proximately t wo minute s. If th e in k ch arg ing i s incomp lete, you may not be a ble to prin t.
T emporarily Prin ting with Black Ink - W indows 1. When the following window is displayed, cancel printing. Not e: If you ca nnot ca ncel printing from the co mpu ter , cance l using the print er's con tro l panel. 2. Access the printer driver window .
5. Select Gra ysc ale . 6. Set the other i tems o n the Main and More O pt i on s tabs as necessar y , and then click OK . 7. Click Pri nt . 8. Click Pri nt in Bl ac k in the window dis played.
C onser ving Black Ink when the Black Ink Is Lo w (for Wi n d o ws O n l y ) When b lack ink is running low and ther e is eno ugh color ink r emaining, yo u can use a mixt ure o f colo r inks to create blac k. Y ou can con tinue p rintin g while preparing a replacem ent blac k ink cartr idge.
Impro ving Prin t and Scan Quality Checking and Cleaning the Print Head If the nozzles are clogged, the print outs become fain t, there is visible banding, or unexpecte d colors appear . When print q uality has declined, use t he nozzle check featur e an d check if the nozzles are clogged.
❏ ere are br oken lines or missing segments: e p rint head nozzles may be clogged. Go to the next step . Not e: e tes t pa ttern ma y var y by m ode l. 5. Ho ld the y bu tt on do wn fo r three seconds until the pow er ligh t starts ashing.

Solving Problems Checking the Printer Status Checking the Error Indicators on the P rint er When an erro r occurs, the lig ht turns o n or ashes. Details of the error are displayed on the com pu ter screen. : On : Flashing s lowly : Flashing Fast Light Situation Solut ions No paper is loaded or more than one sheet has been fed at a time.
Light Situation Solut ions A printer err or has oc curred. Open the sc anner unit and r emov e any pa per or prote ctive material in side the print er . T urn the po wer o and on again. A Wi-F i connection error has occurred. P ress the button to clear the er ror and tr y again.

P aper Does Not F eed C orrectly Check the f ollo wing i f the paper jam s, paper is fed at a slan t, several sheets of paper ar e fed at a time, no paper is fed, or pap er is ej ec ted. ❏ Place the printer o n a at surface and operate in the recommended en vironmen tal conditions.
❏ Install the pr inter driver . ❏ T o print phot os easi ly , install Epson Easy Photo Printt. ❏ Connect the interface cable sec urely to the prin ter and the com pu ter . ❏ If y ou are using a US B hub , tr y to connect the printer directly to the com pu ter .
❏ When p rinting images o r phot os, prin t using high-resol utio n data. Imag es on we bsites are oen lo w r esolu tion although they look good enough on the display , and so print quality may declin e. ❏ Select the a pp r op riat e pa per type se tti ng i n the p rinte r dri ver fo r the type o f pape r load ed in the p r in ter .
C opy Quality Is Poor Check the f ollo wing if un even colo rs, smears, dot s, or s traigh t lines appear in the cop ied imag e. ❏ Load and eject pap er withou t printin g to clean the paper path. ❏ Clean the scanner g lass and the document co ver .
❏ During borderless printing, the image is slig htly enlarged and the protruding area is cropped. A djust the amount o f enlargement. ❏ Wi n d o w s Click Se t ti ngs of t h e Bor de rl es s on the printer driver's Main t ab and selec t the amount of enlargement.
❏ Wi n d o w s Clear Mirr or I mage on the prin ter driver's More O pt io n s tab . ❏ Mac O S X Clear Mirr or I mage from the p rinter driver's Print S etti ngs menu.
❏ Whe n using the prin ter o n a ne twor k, make s ure th e prin ter is conn ected to th e netwo rk pro perly . Y ou can che ck t he con ne c ti on st at us f rom th e ne twor k i con on t he pr inter wi nd ow an d by pr i nti ng a n et work st atu s sheet.
❏ Do not pre ss too ha rd on t he ori gi na l or th e do c um ent cover w hen you a re pl ac ing th e or ig in al s on the sc a nne r glass. U neven colors, smear s, or do ts may ap pear when the original or the documen t cov er are p ressed too hard.
❏ Clean the s canner glass and t he document cover . If there is dust or stains on the glass, the scanning area may extend to include the dust or stains, resulting in t he wrong sc a nn ing p o sit ion or s ma ll ima ges .
Scanning Stops when Scanning to PDF/Multi- TIFF ❏ When scanning lar ge vol umes, we reco mmend scanning in grayscale. ❏ Incr ease the free space on the comp uter's hard disk. Scanning may stop if there is not enough free space. ❏ T r y s canning at a low er resol utio n.
