Front/Top Name Func tion A Air exhaust ven t Exhaust vent for air used to cool the projector internally. Caution While projecting, do not put your face or hands near the air exhaust vent, and do not place objects that may become warped or damaged by heat near the vent.

Replacing the remote control batteries If delays in the responsiveness of the remote control occur or if it does not operate after it has been used for some time, it probably means that the batteries are becoming flat. When this happens, replace them with new batteries.
Preparing the Projector This chapter explains how to install the projector and connect projection sources..
Installation Methods The projector supports the following four different projection methods. Install the projector according to the co nditions of the installation location. • Project images from in front of the screen. (Front projection) • Project images from behind a translucent screen.
• Install the projector so that it is parallel to the screen. If the projector is installed at an angle to the screen, keystone distortion occurs in the projected image. • Place the projector on a level surface. If the projector is tilted the projected image is also tilted.
The port name , location, and connector orientation differ depending on the sour ce being connected. Connecting Image Sources To project images from DVD players or game consoles and so on , connect to the projector using one of the following methods.
Attention • Power off the equipment before co nnecting. Connecting while it is powered on may cause malfunctions to occur. • When connecting, check the cable's connector shape with the shap e of the port. Inserting a connector with a different orientati on or shape by force may cause malfunctions to occur or may damage the equipment.
a • Use an HDMI cable that conforms to the HDMI standard. • Depending on the equipment you are connecting to, the connecter sh ape may be specific to that equipment. In such a case, use th e c a b l e t h a t w a s s u p p l i e d w i t h the equipment or is availa ble as an optional accessory for that equipment.
a You can use a USB cable to con nect the projector to a computer to project images from the comput e r . T h i s f u n c t i o n i s c a l l e d U S B Display.
Connecting USB Devices You can connect devices such as USB memory, the optional Docume n t C a m e r a , a n d U S B c o m p a t i b l e h a r d d i s k s a n d d i g i t a l c a m e r a s . Using the USB cable supplied with the USB device, connect th e USB device to the USB(TypeA) port on the projector.
Removing USB devices After finishing projecting, remove USB devices from the projector. For devices such as digital cameras or hard disks, turn off the device and then remove it from the projector.

Automatically Detect Input Signals and Change the Projected Image (Source Search) Press the [Source Search] button to project images from the port currently receiving an image. Using the remote c ontr ol Using the c ontrol panel When two or more image sources are connected, press the [Source Search] button until the target image is projected.
Switching to the Target Image by Remote Control You can change directly to the target image by pressing the following buttons on the remote control. Rem ote co ntro l A Changes to images from the Computer port. B Each time the button is pressed, it cycles through the images being input from the following sources.

c Computer images are projected. It may take a while before computer images are projected. Until computer images are projected, leave the equipment as it is and do not disconnect the U SB cable or turn off the power to the projector. d Disconnect the USB cable when you finish projection.

Correcting Keystone Distortion You can correct keystone distortion using one of the following methods. • Correcting automatically (Auto V-Keystone) Automatically corrects vertical keystone distortion. • Correcting manu ally (H-Keystone Adjuster) Manually corrects horizontal keystone distortion using the horizon tal keystone adjuster.
a • Auto V-Keystone works only when Projection is set to Front from the Configuration menu. s Extended - Projec tion p.62 • If you do not want to use Auto V-Keystone, set Au to V-Key stone to Off . s Settings - Keystone - H/V-Keystone - Auto V-Keystone p.
Press the [ a ] o r [ b ] buttons to correct horizontal distortion. a You can also set H/V- Keystone from the Configuration menu. s Settings - Keystone - H/V-Keystone p.61 Quick Corner This allows you to manu ally correct each of the four corners of the projected image separately.
d Using the [ ], [ ], [ ], and [ ] bu ttons o n the remote control, or the [ w ], [ v ], [ a ], and [ b ] buttons on the control panel, s elect the corner to correct, and then press the [ ] b u t t o n .
a If the [Esc] button is held down for about two seconds while the corner selection screen from step 4 is displayed, the following screen is displayed. Reset Quick Corner : Resets the result of Quick Corner corrections. Switch to H/V-Keysto ne : Switches the correction method to H/V-Keystone .
Correcting the Focus You can correct the focus using the focus ring. Adjusting the Volume You can adjust the volume using one of the following methods. • Press the [Volume] button on the control panel or the remote control to adjust the volume. [ a ] Decreases the volume.
Each time you press the [Color Mode] button, the Color Mode name is displayed on the screen and the Color Mode changes. Rem ote co ntro l a You can set Color Mode from the Configuration menu.
Changing methods Each time you press the [Aspect] button on the remote control, the aspect mode name is displayed on the screen and th e aspect ratio changes. Re m o t e c on tro l a You can set the aspect ratio from the Configuration menu. s Signal - Aspect p.

Projecting Without a Computer (Slideshow) By connecting a USB stor age device such as a USB memory or a USB hard disk to the projector, you can project the files stored on the device without using a computer. This function is called Slideshow. a • You may not be able to use USB storage devices that incorporate security functions.
b Connect the USB s torage device o r digi tal c amera to the projector. s "Connecting USB Devices" p.21 Slideshow starts and the file list screen is displayed. • JPEG files are displayed as thum bnails (file contents are displayed as small images).
a If not all of the files and folders are displayed on the current screen, press the [ ] ] button on the remote control, or position the cursor on Next Page at the bottom of the screen and press the [ ] button.
b Press the [ ], [ ], [ ], and [ ] buttons to select the image file you want to project. c Press the [ ] b u t t o n . T h e i m a g e i s d i s p l a y e d . a Press the [ ][ ] buttons to move to the next or previous image file. d Press the [Esc] button to return to the file list screen.

Hiding the Image and Sound Temporarily (A/V Mute) You can use this when you want to hide the image on the screen, or if you do not want to show details such as when you are changing between files. Each time you press the [A/V Mute] but ton, or open/close the lens cover A/V Mute turns on or off.
a • Audio does not stop. • When projecting moving images, the images contin ue to be played back while the screen is frozen. It is not possible to resume projection from the point where the screen was frozen.
Enlarging Part of the Image (E-Zoom) This is useful when you want to expand images to see them in greater detail. a Start E-Zoom. Press the [ z ] button to display the Cross ( ). Re m o t e c o n t ro l b Move the Cross ( ) to the area of th e image that you want to enlarge.
U s i n g t h e R e m o t e C o n t r o l t o O p e r a t e t h e M o u s e Pointer (Wireless Mouse) You can control the computer's mouse pointer from the projector's remote control. This function is called Wireless Mouse. The following oper ating systems are compatible with Wireless Mouse.
a • When any pair of adjacent [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] buttons are pressed at the same time, the pointer can be moved diagonally. • If the mouse button settings are set to reverse on the computer, the operation of the remote control buttons will also be reversed.
a • When User's Logo Protect from Passwo rd Prote ct is set to On , a message is displayed a nd the User's Logo cannot be changed. You ca n make changes after setting User's Logo Protect to Off . s "Managing Users (Password Protect)" p.
The projector has the following enhanced security functions. • Password Protect You can limit who can use the projector. • Control Panel Lock You can prevent people changing th e settings on the projector without permission. s "Restricting Operation (Control Panel Lock)" p.
c Select On , and then press the [ ] bu tton. Press the [Esc] button, the screen displayed in step 2 is displayed again. d Set the passwor d. (1) Select Password , and then press the [ ] button. (2) When the message "Change the password?" is displayed, select Yes and then press the [ ] button.
Attention • If an incorrect password is entered three times in succession, the message "The projector's operation will be lock ed." is displayed for approximately five minutes, and then the projector switches to standby mode.
d Select Yes when the confirmation message is displayed. The control panel buttons are locked according to the setting you chose. a You can release the control panel lock by one of the following two methods. • Select Off from Con trol Panel Lock . s Settings - Control Panel Lock p.
ESC/VP21 Comman ds You can control the projector from an external device using ESC/VP21. Before starting a Install the USB communication dr iver (EPSON USB-COM Driver) to your computer. Configuration Menu This chapter explains how to use the Configuration menu and its functions..
This section explains how to use the Configuration menu. Although steps are explained using the remote control as an example, you can perform the same operations from the control panel. Check the guide under the menu for the available buttons and their operations.

Submenu F unc tion Pr ogressive (This setting can only be adju sted when a component video or RGB video with an interlaced si gnal (480i/576i/1080i) is input. This cannot be set when a digital RGB signal is input.) Interlace g (i) signal is converted to Progressive g (p).

Submenu F unc tion Test Pa ttern When the projector is set up, a test pattern is displayed so that you can adjust the projection status w ithout connecting equipment. While the test pattern is displayed, zoom, focus adjustments, and keystone correction can be performed.
Submenu F unc tion Oper at ion Direct Power On : S e t t o On to turn on the projector simply by plugging it in. When the power cable is plugged in, note that the projector turns on automatically in cases such as a power outage being restored.

If a problem occurs with the projector, the Help screen is displayed to assist you by pressing the Help button. You can solve problems by answering the questions. a Press the [Help] button. If you are having a problem with the projector, first check the projector's indicators and refer to "Reading the Indicators" be low. See the following if the indicators do not show clearly what the problem might be. s "When th e Indicators Provide No He lp" p.
Refer to the following table to see what the indicators mean and how to remedy problems that they indicate. If all indicators are off, check that the power cable is conne cted correctly and that the power is being supplied normally.
Sta tus Cause R emedy or St atus If the lamp is not cracked : Reinstall the lamp and turn on the power. If the error continues : Replace the lamp with a new one and then turn on the power.
When the Indicators Provide No Help If any of the following problems occur and the indicators do not offer a solution, refer to the pages given for each problem. Problems Relating to Images • No images appear Projection does not start, the projection area is completely black, or the projection area is completely blue.

Check the Remote Receive r from the Configuration menu. s Settings - Remote Receiver p.61 Other Problems No sound can be heard or the sound is faint Che ck Re m e d y Check that the audio/video cable is securely attached to both the projector and audio source.
Che ck Re m e d y Is direct sunlight or strong light from fluorescent lamps shining onto the remote receiver? Set the projector up in a location where strong light does not shine onto the remote receiver. Or set the remote receiver to Off from Remote Receiver in the Config uration menu.
Maintenance This chapter provides information on maintenance procedures to ensure the best level of perfor mance from th e projector fo r a lo ng time to come.
You should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of projected images starts to deteriorate. Attention Turn off the projector's power before cleaning. Cleaning the Projector's Surface Clean the projector's surface by wipi ng it gently with a soft cloth.
a • If a message is frequently displayed, even after cleaning, it is time to replace the air filter. Replace it w ith a new air filter. s " R e p l a c i n g t h e A i r F i l t e r " p.85 • It is recommended that you clean these parts at least once every three months.
This section explains how to replace the lamp and the air filter. Replacing the Lamp Lamp replacement period It is time to replace the lamp when: • The following message is displayed. "Time to replace the lamp. Please contact your Epson projector reseller or visit www.
Warning • When replacing the lamp because it has stopped illuminating, there is a possibility that the lamp may be broken. If replacing the lamp of a projector which has been installed on the ceiling, you should always assume that the lamp is cracked, a nd you should stand to the side of the lamp cover, not underneath it.
d Take out the old Lamp by pulling the handle. If the Lamp is cracked, replace it with a new lamp, or contact your local dealer for further advice. s Epson Projector Contact List ② ① e Install the new lamp.
f R e p l a c e t h e l a m p c o v e r . Attention • Make sure you install the lamp securely. If the lamp cover is removed, the power turns off automatically as a safety precaution. If the lamp or the lamp c o v e r i s n o t i n s t a l l e d c o r r e c t l y , t h e p o w e r d o e s n o t t u r n o n .
c Remove the air filter. Grip the air filter cover tab and pull it straight out. d Install the new air filter. Slide the air filter from the outside and press in until it firmly clicks into place. e C l o s e t h e a i r f i l t e r c o v e r . a Dispose of used air filters properly in accordance with your local regulations.
