By using EpsonNet WinAssist Easy Setup, you can easily configure the network adapt er for TCP/IP and NetBEUI.
Introduction 7 Configuring the Network Ada pter To confi gure the network ada pter, you must compl ete the following steps. See the noted documen tation for more detail ed inform ation. 1. Install the network adap ter in your print er. See Chapter 1. 2.
Getting Star ted 1-1 Chapter 1 Getting St arted This chapt er explains how to install and use the networ k adapter. Network Adapter Op eration The light s and the status sheet can provide you with important informat ion about the op eration and confi guration of the net work adapter .
Getting Star ted 1-2 Status lights The netwo rk adapter has two status lights that indicate t he curren t operating statu s of the network a dapter when you fi rst turn on t he pri nte r, du rin g norm al o per ation , and wh en er ror s occur. The St atus light has two- colors, red and gr een, and when both col ors are on produces orang e.
Getting Star ted 1-3 You cannot print a status sheet if the p rinter has started printing, if it is o ff-line, or if it is not ready to print. Note: If the printer does not print a status sheet, make sure that the printer is on-line and no print jobs are being processed, then wait a minute.
Getting Star ted 1-4 Conne cting to the Netwo rk Follow t he instructions b elow to install the network adapt er in your pri nter. c Caution: ❏ Do not place anythi ng on top of the network adapter. ❏ Leave adequate room around the network adapter for easy operation.

If EpsonNet WinAssist is installed on your computer, you can access EpsonNet WinAssist Easy Setup from the Star t menu.

Setting the IP Ad dr ess 3-6 Sett ing the IP Address Us ing arp/ ping Command s If you are usin g UNIX or OS/2, you need to use the arp command to set the I P address of the network adapter, and the ping command t o check that y ou have set it correctly.

Settings for NetWare 4- 2 About modes You can choo se from Print Server, Remote P rinter, or Stan dby mode. We recommend that you sel ect the Print Se rver mode unless the numbe r of users exceeds th e limit. Features of the modes are described below.
Settings for NetWare 4- 3 Instructions for using NetWare Printi ng a text f ile When you print a t ext file using the N PRINT command of NetWare o r DOS, redirectio n, misconversion or a gap in characters might occur depending o n the client environment.
Settings for NetWare 4- 4 IPX r outing protocol "NLSP" It is possi ble to set the IPX ro uting protocols “N LSP” from NetWare 4 .1x or later; however, the network adapter does not support NLSP. RIP/SAP controls the co m municatio n. You can sel ect the routing pr otocol from a) NL SP with RIP/ SAP Compatib ility or b) RI P/SAP Only.

Browse: Displays t he hierarchy of the fil e server that you have logged in. You can selec t, create, or delete queues. ❏ Selecting a queue Click the queue and click OK to sel ect the queue.
