3 Gimbal Bracket Washer Gimbal Knob Eagle View Attach the Eagle View to the gimbal bracket using the supplied gimbal knobs and washers as shown below..

5 ANTENNA The Eagle Vie w’ s antenna can be mounted on any flat surface , pro vided you ha ve access behind the surf ace for the mounting scre ws. A magnet is also supplied that can be epo xied to the bottom of the antenna, allo wing it to be used on off-road v ehicles.
6 After drilling the holes, pass the o-ring ov er the antenna cable and press it into the groo v e on the bottom of the antenna housing. Now attach the antenna to the mounting surf ace , using 4mm scre ws and the supplied loc k washers . Route the cab le to the Eagle Vie w and the antenna installa- tion is finished.
7 KEYBO ARD The k e yboard has tw elv e k e ys. The arrow k e ys are tied to most of the f eatures, letting you easily mo v e the plotter’ s cursor , navigate through the menus , mak e selections from menus , and other tasks. The WPT k ey lets y ou create, sa v e, and recall wa ypoints and routes .
8 OPERA TION T urning P o wer On T o tur n the Eagle Vie w on, simply press the PWR ke y . A screen similar to the one at right appears. Read the message on the screen, then press the EXIT k e y to er ase it. The Eagle View is now ready f or use . MENUS Most of the Eagle View’ s adjustments and features are f ound on “menus”.
9 Once the Eagle View loc ks on to the satellites and finds your position, it stores the satellite data in its memor y . The next time y ou use the unit, it should tak e much less time to loc k on.
10 arro w k e y . The screen sho wn at right ap- pears . Using the down arro w k e y , highlight the “Initialize GPS Receiv er” menu, then press the right arrow ke y .
11 Now change the local time and date if the y’ re incorrect on this screen. (Don’t worry about altitude.) When ev erything is acceptab le , press the EXIT k e y repeat- edly to return to a mode screen. The Eagle View will instantly use the data you entered to find the satellites in the sky .
12 as "GRP" (groups). For e xample, Group A is the first windo ws group on the MODE menu.) Press the right arro w k e y to see more screens on each mode. 13 348°. The line e xtending behind the ar- ro w in the center shows y our tr ac k his- tor y , or path y ou’ve tr a v elled. Y our speed over g round or Ground Speed (GS) sho ws in the digital bo x to the right of the circle. The screen looks lik e this when you’ re not na vigating to a w aypoint.
14 Nav Screen #2 The na vigation screen sho ws navigation inf ormation in large digital numbers. T o vie w this screen, press the MODE k e y , then press the up arrow k ey until the b lack bo x surrounds the “NA V 1” label. Now press the right arro w ke y .
15 ro w ke y to move the b lac k bo x to the "PLO T" label. Now press the right arrow or left arro w k ey to select plot 2. This screen (as shown at the bottom of the pre vious page) has na vigation data display ed on the r ight side of the screen in digital n umbers.
16 Recor d T rail On / Off The line e xtending from the present po- sition diamond on the plotter is call the plot tr ail. As each dot on the trail is placed on the screen, it’ s also sa v ed in memor y . The plot trail recording can be tur ned off , if desired.
17 In the tr ack-up vie w at right, the present position mo v es straight to w ards the top of the displa y . As y ou can see , the an- chor icon is no w shown in its proper ori- entation - to our right. A "N" shows to help y ou see which direction is nor th when the trac k-up mode is on.
18 Grid Lines The Eagle View can place g rid lines on the plotter to help y ou see your position, or the position of w a ypoints and icons . T o do this, highlight the “Grid Lines” label on the “Plotter Opts” menu, then press the r ight arro w k e y to turn them on.
19 press the ENT k e y . The plotter screen re- appears with the icon at the cursor's lo- cation. Press the EXIT k e y to erase the cursor . On the screen shown at r ight, the large fish icon w as selected and placed at the cursor location.

21 COURSE DEVIA TION INDICA T OR (CDI) The CDI sho ws your distance to the left or right of the desired course. Y ou must recall a w a ypoint or run a route to use the CDI. The arrow in the center of the bo x sho ws the direction to the destina- tion.
22 CLOCK Whene v er a clock, timer , or alarm is showing on a displa y , new items appear in the list when y ou press the MENU k ey . These items let y ou set the cloc k’ s time, alar ms, or the timers . Cloc k Set If the time sho wn on the cloc k displa y is not y our local time, change it using the “Cloc k Set” function.
23 Timer s The Eagle Vie w has two timers built in. One is a countdo wn timer and the other is a count-up timer . The countdown timer counts do wn from the time y ou put in to zero . The count-up timer star ts at z ero and counts up to the time y ou entered.
24 This is the plot-2 edit screen. The “BRG” bo x in the upper r ight cor ner flashes , which means it’ s ready f or change . If y ou don’t w ant to change this bo x, simply press the up or down arro w ke y to mo v e to the bo x that y ou do w ant to change .
25 Sa ving The Cursor P osition as a W a ypoint When the cursor is sho wing on the plotter and y ou press the WPT ke y twice , the Eagle View puts the cursor’ s position into the first a v ailab le w a ypoint n umber . A message appears on the displa y telling y ou the wa y- point number it just used.
26 Highlight the “Sa ve P osition As” label as shown below left and press the right arrow k e y when y ou’ re at the location you wish to sa v e .
27 W A YPOINT NAMES It automatically assigns the wa ypoint number as a name when the w a ypoint position is sa v ed. Y ou can find a wa y - point by highlighting the “Name” label on the w a ypoint men u as shown at right. Now press the right or left arrow k e ys to scroll through the sa v ed w a ypoints.

When e v er ything on this page is correct, press the ENT k e y . Note:The names in the “F rom” and “T o” bo x es are not the wa ypoint numbers - the y are the wa ypoint names.
29 Delete a W a ypoint T o erase all of the inf or mation in a wa ypoint, simply press the WPT k ey , then select the w a ypoint y ou w ant to delete. Now highlight the “Wpt-Op- tions” label and press the r ight arrow k ey . Finally , highlight the “Delete WPT” label and press the r ight arrow k e y .
30 ROUTES Y ou can connect se v er al user wa ypoints together to f or m a route. When y ou recall the route, the Eagle View will sho w y ou na vigation inf ormation to the first wa ypoint in the route, then when you reach that wa ypoint, it s witches to the ne xt w a ypoint, and so on until y ou reach the last w a ypoint in the route.
31 This menu lets y ou go to the w a ypoint selection menu, delete a w a ypoint from the route, or see details about an y wa y- point in the route . Since we want to add a w a ypoint to the route , press the right arrow k e y on the “Inser t F rom WPTS” label.
32 Finishing the Route When y ou’ve selected all of the wa ypoints f or the route, simply press the EXIT k e y until y ou return to the navigation, plotter , or windows screen.
33 The b lac k bo x is on the “Route # 1” label. If this isn’t the route y ou want to use , press the r ight or left arrow k e ys to s witch to another one .
34 Skip W a ypoint The Eagle Vie w lets you skip a w a ypoint in a route without stopping the route . T o do this, first press the MENU k ey , then highlight the “Routes” menu and press the right arrow k ey , then highlight the “Skip WPT” label and press the right ar- ro w k e y .
35 Navigating to a cur sor location The Eagle View lets y ou na vigation to a location without storing it in the wa ypoint database b y using the plotter and cur- sor . T o do this, first s witch to the plotter screen. Now mo v e the cursor to the lo- cation that you w ant to navigate to .
36 Navigating to a W aypoint using the Plotter The unique “birds-e y e” view used b y the plotter giv es y ou an easy w a y to na vi- gate to a w a ypoint. On the screen show n at right, the diamond with a cross in it is y our present position. The bo x with the “S” in it was your star ting location when y ou recalled the w a ypoint.
37 SYSTEM SETUP The Eagle View has se ver al menus and commands listed under the “System Setup” label on the main men u. These commands aff ect the basic oper ation of the unit. T o use them, press the MENU k e y , then highlight the “System Setup” label.
38 T o change a unit of measure, first select the “Set Units” from the “System Setup” menu. The screen shown at r ight ap- pears . Highlight the desired selection, then press the left or right arrow ke y . Y ou can change one or all of the settings on this page .
39 NMEA / DGPS The Eagle View transmits data through the data por t in the bac k of the unit using NMEA 0183 f or mat, v ersion 1.5 or 2.0. This data is used by other electronic de vices such as mar ine autopilots for position and steer- ing inf ormation.
40 All wiring connections to the Eagle View are made to it’ s pow er cab le. See the sample wiring diagrams on the ne xt page f or general wiring proce- dures .

42 the e xception of serial communications, typically no other setup needs to be made with these receiv ers . If y ou ha v e any other Magna vo x or Starlink compatible DGPS receiv er con- nected to the Eagle View , you ma y need to change the settings .
43 If y ou restore the unit to the f actor y settings, all options such as contr ast, alarms, and other system choices are retur ned to their def ault values .

45 PCF (P osition Correction Factor) Another method used to mak e y our displa y match a char t or map is called “PCF” or P osition Correction F actor . This unit giv es y ou the capability to mo v e or offset the position sho wn on the displa y to match one on the char t .
46 After y ou’ve entered the latitude/longitude correction, press the ENT k ey to accept it. The Eagle View erases the PCF entry screen and retur ns to the na vigation or mapping screens with the correction f actor applied.
47 T o use any of these alar ms, first press the MENU k ey , then select the “ALARMS/CDI” menu. A screen similar to the one shown at right appears . Press the up or down arro w ke y to move the b lack bo x to the desired alarm, then press the r ight arrow k e y to turn it on.
48 SIMULA T OR A simulator is b uilt into the Eagle Vie w that has se v eral options. Y ou can use nearly all of the unit’ s f eatures - ev en sav e and recall wa ypoints.
