E-2 Wa r ning Foreign Objects • Should any foreign matter get into the Handheld T erminal and its options, immediately turn off the po wer and contact your original vendor or an authorized CASIO service provider . Continued use creates the danger of f ire and electric shock.
E-3 Caution Foreign Objects • Ta ke care to ensure that metals or combustible objects are not inserted into the openings of the Handheld T erminal and its options. Such the objects inside of the Handheld T erminal and its options create the danger of fire and electric shock.
E-4 Optional Lithium-ion Battery P ack Danger • Nev er allow the battery pack to become wet. W ater can create the danger of battery pack heat emission, explosion, and f ire. • Nev er use or leave the battery pack next to open flame, near a sto ve, or any other area exposed to high heat.
E-5 Wa r ning • Nev er place the battery pack in a micro wav e oven or any other high-v oltage device. Doing so creates the dang er of battery pack heat emission, e xplosion, and f ire. • Should the battery pack emit a strange odor or heat, change color or shape, or exhibit an y other abnormal behavior , immediately stop using it.
E-6 AC P ower Supply Wa r ning • Do not use the Handheld T erminal at a voltage other than the specified v oltage. Also, do not connect the Handheld T erminal to a multi-plug power strip. Doing so creates the danger of fire and electric shock. • Av oid conditions that can cause damage or breaks in the power cord.
E-7 AC Adaptor Caution • The housing of the A C adaptor can become warm during normal use. • Ta ke normal precautions against electric shock. • At least once a year , unplug the A C adaptor from the wall outlet and clean any dust that b uilds up between the prongs of the plug.

E-14 Before Getting Started Be sure to perform the following ste ps before trying to use the Handheld T erminal for the first time. 1. When unpacking, make sure that everything is included. Open the box and make sure that all the items sho wn here are included.

Ta ke care that the battery pack is oriented correctly when you load it. 3 Replace the rechargeable battery pack co ver as sho wn in the diagram and then return the rechargeable battery pack co ver switches (two places) to the "LOCK" positions.

E-21 Replacing the Battery Y our Handheld T erminal uses two types of battery: a battery pack and a memory backup battery . The battery pack is used to power normal operations and to stor e data, whil.
E-22 To replace the battery pack 1. Make sure that the Handheld T erminal is turned of f. If the power is on, press the po wer ke y to turn it off. 2. Turn o ver the Handheld T erminal. 3. Slide the two battery pack lock switches on both sides of the Handheld T erminal to the “FREE” position, and then remov e the battery pack cover .
E-23 Loading the large-capacity battery pack into the Handheld T erminal After loading the large-capacity battery pack, you need to use the special lar ge-capacity battery pack cover in place of the standard battery co ver .
E-24 Attaching the Wrist Strap Be sure to attach the wrist strap and use it to protect against dropping the Handheld Te rminal when carrying it around. To attach the wrist strap 1. Pass the thin cord of the wrist strap through the wrist strap hole on the back of the Handheld T erminal.
E-25 Configuring Handheld T erminal Settings Calibrating T ouch Screen Alignment Whenever you feel that touch screen response is poor or that the operations being ex ecuted do not match the location you are tapping on the touch screen, perform either of the follo wing operations to calibrate the alignment of the touch screen.
E-26 Adjusting Display Contrast Perform the follo wing steps to adjust display contrast to make display colors more vi vid and easier to see. • Press the “Fn” key and then press the “2” key or “3” key after confirming that “F” is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.

E-29 Using the Laser Scanner (Laser Scanner models only) 1. After turning on the po wer, position the laser scanner close to a bar code and then press the trigger ke y . 2. The laser emits light and scans the bar code. If scanning is completed normally , Indicator 1 displays a green light and the b uzzer sounds.
E-30 W arning Label • This label is a warning label f or Class 2 laser pr oducts that comply with IEC60825-1+A2:2001. • Although Class 2 laser light is only emitted momentarily , never look dir ectly into the beam light.
E-31 P erf orming Comm unication IR Communication IR communication can be used to transfer data between two Handheld T erminals. When performing IR communication, orient the IR ports of both Handheld T erminals so they are pointing directly at each other .
E-32 Bluetooth ® Communication Bluetooth ® protocol can also be used to transfer data between two Handheld T erminals. W ith Bluetooth ® the two Handheld T erminals should be located within about three meters (9 '10 1 ⁄ 8 " ) from each other , as long as there is nothing blocking the path between them.
E-33 Resetting the Handheld T erminal Resetting the Handheld T erminal is the same as restarting a computer . Performing a reset causes all unsav ed inputs and edits to be lost, but data that is already stored in the memory as well as all settings should be unaffected.
E-34 Performing a Full Reset (Initialization) Performing a full reset initializes memory . This means tha t all data stored in the memory (RAM) is deleted and all the settings are returned to their initial factory defaults. Perform a full reset whenever any one of the following conditions exists.

E-41 Configuring DIP Switch Settings Dismounting the bottom cover of the Bridge Satellite Cradle exposes the DIP switches. Y ou can change the ON/OFF settings of the DIP switches to set the configuration. Please, set after first switching OFF the po wer .
E-42 Using W all Mount Unit The follo wing procedure explains ho w to use the optional wall mount unit (DT - 891WH) to configure the Bridge Satellite Cradle for a wall-mounted configuration. 1. Remove the screws on the bottom of the Bridge Satellite Cradle, and remove the desktop unit.

E-57 Using CF Card Extension Unit The CF Card Extension Unit (DT -894CFU) supports use of Compact flash (CF) T ype I cards and T ype II cards (3.3). Use the procedure below to load and remove CF cards. Important! • Installing some cards will make it impossible to close the card slot cov er .
