13 V ehicle Installation Step 1: Mount the XM Antenna The XM antenna c ontains a strong magnet which will stick to an y metal par ts of your vehicle . 1 Choose the best location for y our XM antenna considering y our own personal situation.
14 2 Place the ant enna in the location you selected. 3 Route the cable: • If you placed the XM antenna on the fr ont of the vehicle, r oute the cable across the top of the windshield . Gently pr y up the rubber w eather seal and tuck the cable underneath.
15 • If you placed the XM antenna on the r ear of the vehicle, rout e the cable under the weather seal of the r ear window . Route it into the trunk and through an y existing wire passages or cargo passages to the rear passenger compartment. T uck the cable under the door jam trim or under the carpet to the radio as shown.
16 Step 2: Install the vent or swivel mount. Y ou can use either the vent mount or the swiv el mount for y our Xpress RC depending on your par ticular situation. Installing the ven t mount 1 Locat e a vent with horizontal slats sturdy enough to hold y our XM cradle and radio .
17 Installing the swivel moun t CA UTION! The adhesive used with the swivel mount may make it dicult to remo ve . Do not install this mount on leather sur faces and make sure the air temperatur e is at least 60°F (15°C ). 1 Locate a at surface for the mount.
18 T o remove , carefully lift the adhesive pad with your ngers or a spoon. Warming the pad with a hair dr yer for sev eral minutes will help soften the adhesive. Y ou can reinstall the swivel mount using the e xtra adhesive pad. Step 3: Connect your Xpr ess RC .

20 • XM SureConnect (sold separately): Y ou can listen to your Xpr ess RC through y our car stereo b y using Xpress RC ’ s built-in F M modulator and the XM SureC onnect. Simply nd an unused FM fr equenc y on the stereo and set your Xpr ess RC to transmit on that same fr equenc y .
21 Activation.
22 Befor e you can listen t o any of XM’ s170 channels, you must rst activate y our Xpress RC . 1 Make sure your Xpr ess RC is properly installed and receiving the XM signal so that y ou can hear the audio on channel 1. 2 Make a note of y our XM R adio ID .

24 Listening to XM Enter a channel 1 T urn the k nob to scroll thr ough the list of channels. 2 Y ou ’ll see the channel logo and current artist. I n a few sec onds, the current song title appears. 3 Press the XM button t o select a channel. TIP: Y ou can congure Xpress RC t o automatically tune to the channel y ou scroll to.
25 V iew a category With so man y channels to choose from, XM Satellit e Radio has organized them into categories to make it easier f or you to nd the ones that suit your tast e. 1 T o view a categor y , press < or > . 2 Scroll through the category to nd the channel you want .
26 2 Use the number buttons or remote to en ter the channel number . Jump to the pre vious channel Pr ess jump to listen to the previous channel y ou selec ted. TIP! Y ou can view both cur rent and the pr evious channel at the same time. Refer to Changing the display mode on page 34.
27 Using your Xpress RC 3 Pr ess and hold the number button you want t o use for that channel. T o listen to a fav orite channel: 1 Be sure you ar e in F avorite Channels mode. P ress fav until “F avorit e Channels” appears in the title bar . 2 Pr ess the number button where the desired channel is pr ogrammed .
28 Skip a channel 1 T o remov e channels from the channel list, press menu . 2 S elect Channel Acc ess . Press the XM button . 3 Selec t Channel Skip/Add . P ress the XM button . 4 Each channel preceded by appears in the list of channels. T o remove a channel from the list, scroll to the channel and pr ess the XM button .
29 Using your Xpress RC 5 Each channel pr eceded by Ø does not appear in the list of channels. T o add a channel back to the list, scroll to the channel and pr ess the XM button . 6 When nished, pr ess < or menu repeat edly to return t o normal operation.
30 5 Pr ess the XM button . 6 None of the explicit language channels will appear on the channel list or on the channel sk ip/add list. T o add explicit language channels to the channel list: 1 Press menu . 2 S elect Channel Acc ess , and press the XM button .
31 Using your Xpress RC T une directly to a channel: Usually , you press the XM button to select a channel. Y ou can change this so that your radio automatically tunes t o the channel when highlighted for longer than 3 seconds . T o automatically tune to a channel: 1 Pr ess menu .
32 T o disable Direc t T une: 1 Press menu . 2 S elect Channel Acc ess , and press the XM button . 3 Selec t Direct T une , and press the XM button . 4 T urn the k nob until Direct T une is OFF .

34 Change the display mode Y ou can view multiple channels on the display to see what else is pla ying. View the conten t you wan t; the way y ou want it. Choose from: T o change the mode, press displa y . TIP! When in split screen with the channel list, you can scr oll through the list of channels, just like when it appears on the full screen.
35 Sav e your fav orite songs 1 When you hear a song y ou like, press and hold the XM button until “ Add t o SongSaver ” appears. 2 Press the XM button again.
36 3 Y our song is saved t o the nex t available number button. T o listen to a saved song: 1 Press fa v until “SongSaver ” appears. 2 Pr ess a number button for the song you w ant to hear . TIP! T o see your list of sav ed songs either rotate the knob while in single (default) display mode or go to split scr een and view 6 songs.
37 Special Features 60 minute pause and repla y 60 minute repla y gives you the opportunit y to “ hear that again. ” This featur e applies to the current listening session only . T ur ning your Xpr ess RC o remov es all tracks from the up-to -60 minute buer .
38 3 Pr ess to rewind the song . TIP! Pr ess and hold for 3 seconds t o sk ip to the rst track. T o listen to the next track: 1 Press to skip to the next track . 2 Press and hold t o fast for ward the song . TIP! T o return to the live XM br oadcast, press and hold button until “Live ” appears.

43 Special Features 7 T o view current scores and stats f or the spor ts and teams on your list, press inf o . 8 When y our spor t/team plays on any channel, y ou ’ll hear a special tone and receiv e a message. T o switch to that channel, pr ess the XM button .

50 Configuring your Xpress RC T urn the FM modula tor on/o (C ar cradle only . For use with XM Sur eConnect or FM Direct adapter .) If you are using the Sur eConnect or FM Dir ec t Adapter t o transmit audio , you must turn the FM Modulat or on and set the FM frequency on both your Xpress RC and y our car radio.
51 5 Y our Xpress RC automatically scans f or all available FM fr equencies. 6 Loca te a suitable F M frequenc y from the list and press the XM butt on . 7 Set your car radio to the fr equenc y selected. TIP! The best FM frequency to use is display ed at the top of the list.
52 2 Selec t V ehicle Mode , and press the XM button . 3 With the F M Modulator ON, select Frequency F inder and press . 4 Y our Xpress RC automatically scans for all a vailable FM frequencies .

54 4 T ur n the knob to increase or decrease the lev el. 5 Press the XM butt on . Do not use the Line Out Level menu it em as a volume control; use the v olume control on your car ster eo instead. Line Out Lev el is used to adjust the volume level to ma tch other audio sources (y our CD player , other FM sta tions, or MP3 pla yer).

60 Aut omatic power Usually , your Xpress RC turns on automatically when it is plugged in and r eceiving pow er . Y ou can change this so you must manually turn the radio on/o each time. 1 P ress menu . 2 Selec t Set Time , and press the XM butt on .
61 Configuring your Xpress RC Delay ed power This option is av ailable if you ar e using the car cradle and the cigarett e lighter is always power ed. 1 P ress menu . 2 Selec t Set Time , and pr ess the XM button . 3 Selec t Delay ed Po wer , and press the XM button .
62 Sleep timer The Sleep Timer is available only with the home stand and sound sy stems (sold sepa- rately). Y our Xpress RC has a sleep timer that can automatically shut o the unit after a period of time. By default, the sleep timer is set to OFF but y ou can set it for 15, 30, 45 minutes or 1 hour .
63 F ac tor y defaults Y ou can clear all of your personal settings (such as F avorite Channels , SongSaver songs , T uneS elects, GameSelec ts, Stocks , and Spor ts inf ormation) and return the radio to its out - of-the -box state . NO TE! Clearing your personal settings permanently remov es any SongSaver songs and all personal settings.
64 Demo mode A sales demo will automatically play when y our Xpress RC has not been activated and is not receiving a sig nal. After that, the sales demo will not appear . If desired, you can activate the demo after your Xpress RC is activated . 1 Make sure y our Xpress RC is not r eceiving a signal .
65 T roubleshooting.
66 Xpress RC has been designed and built t o be trouble-free but if you experience a problem, tr y this: • Check that all connections are rm and secure .
67 If you see this on the scr een: T ry this O Air The channel you ’ve selected is not currently broadcasting . T une to another channel. Loading Y our Xpress RC is acquiring audio or program information fr om the XM signal. This message usually goes away in a f ew seconds.
68 If this happens: T ry this No audio when listening to via an FM r adio Check that your Xpr ess R C and your car radio ar e tuned to the same F M frequenc y . Audio fades or has static when listening Check all cables for a rm and secure c onnec tion.
