13 V ehicle Installation Step 1: Mount the XM Antenna The XM antenna contains a str ong magnet which will stick to any metal parts of your vehicle. 1 Choose the best location for your XM antenna c onsidering your own personal situation.
14 2 Place the antenna in the location y ou selected. 3 Route the cable: • If you placed the XM antenna on the front of the v ehicle, route the cable across the top of the windshield. Gently pry up the rubber weather seal and tuck the cable underneath.
15 • If you placed the XM antenna on the rear of the v ehicle, route the cable under the weather seal of the rear window . Route it into the trunk and through any existing wir e passages or cargo passages to the rear passenger compartment. T uck the cable under the door jam trim or under the carpet to the radio as shown.
16 Step 2: Install the vent or swivel mount. Y ou can use either the vent mount or the swivel mount for your Xpr ess RC depending on your particular situation. Installing the vent mount 1 Locate a v ent with horizontal slats sturdy enough t o hold your XM cradle and radio .
17 Installing the swivel mount C A UTION! The adhesive used with the swivel moun t may make it dicult to remove . Do not install this mount on leather surfaces and make sure the air temperature is at least 60°F (15°C). 1 Locate a at surface for the mount.
18 T o remove, car efully lift the adhesive pad with your ngers or a spoon. W arming the pad with a hair dryer for several minutes will help soften the adhesive . Y ou can reinstall the swivel mount using the extra adhesive pad . Step 3: Connect your Xpress RC .

20 • XM SureConnect (sold separately): Y ou can listen to your Xpress RC through y our car st ereo by using Xpress RC ’ s built-in FM modula tor and the XM SureConnect. Simply nd an unused F M frequency on the stereo and set your Xpr ess RC t o transmit on that same frequency .
21 Activation.
22 Before you can list en to any of XM’ s170 channels, you must rst activate y our Xpress RC . 1 Make sure your Xpress RC is pr operly installed and receiving the XM signal so that y ou can hear the audio on channel 1. 2 Make a note of your XM Radio ID .

24 Listening to XM Enter a channel 1 T urn the knob to scroll through the list of channels. 2 Y ou’ll see the channel logo and current artist. In a few seconds, the current song title appears. 3 Press the XM button to select a channel. TIP: Y ou can congure Xpress RC to automatically tune t o the channel you scroll to .
25 Vie w a category With so many channels t o choose from, XM Satellite Radio has organized them int o categories to make it easier for y ou to nd the ones that suit your taste . 1 T o view a category, press < or > . 2 Scroll through the category to nd the channel you want.
26 2 Use the number buttons or remote to enter the channel number . Jump to the previous channel Press jump t o listen to the previous channel you selected. TIP! Y ou can view both current and the previous channel at the same time. Ref er to Changing the display mode on page 34.
27 Using your Xpress RC 3 Press and hold the number butt on you w ant to use for that channel . T o listen to a favorite channel: 1 Be sure you are in F avorite Channels mode . Press fav un til “F avorite Channels ” appears in the title bar . 2 Press the number button wher e the desired channel is pr ogrammed.
28 Skip a channel 1 T o remove channels from the channel list, press menu . 2 Selec t Channel Ac cess . Pr ess the XM button . 3 Select Channel Skip/Add . Press the XM button . 4 Each channel preceded by appears in the list of channels. T o remov e a channel from the list, scr oll to the channel and press the XM button .
29 Using your Xpress RC 5 Each channel preceded b y Ø does not appear in the list of channels. T o add a channel back to the list, scroll t o the channel and press the XM button . 6 When nished, press < or menu repea tedly to return to normal operation.
30 5 Press the XM button . 6 None of the explicit language channels will appear on the channel list or on the channel skip/add list. T o add explicit language channels to the channel list: 1 Press menu . 2 Selec t Channel Ac cess , and press the XM button .
31 Using your Xpress RC T une direc tly to a channel: Usually , you press the XM button t o select a channel. Y ou can change this so that your radio automatically tunes to the channel when highlighted f or longer than 3 seconds. T o automatically tune to a channel: 1 Press menu .
32 T o disable Direct Tune: 1 Press menu . 2 Selec t Channel Ac cess , and press the XM button . 3 Select Direct T une , and press the XM button . 4 Turn the knob until Direct T une is OFF .

34 Change the display mode Y ou can view multiple channels on the display to see what else is playing . View the content you w ant; the way you want it . Choose from: T o change the mode, press display . TIP! When in split screen with the channel list, you can scroll through the list of channels, just like when it appears on the full screen.
35 Save y our favorit e songs 1 When you hear a song you like , press and hold the XM button until “ Add to SongSaver” appears. 2 Press the XM button again.
36 3 Y our song is saved to the next available number button. T o listen to a saved song: 1 Press fav until “S ongSaver” appears. 2 Press a number butt on for the song you want to hear . TIP! T o see your list of saved songs either rotat e the knob while in single (default) display mode or go to split screen and view 6 songs.
37 Special Features 60 minute pause and replay 60 minute replay giv es you the opportunity to “hear that again. ” This feature applies to the current listening session only . T urning your Xpress RC o removes all tracks from the up-to-60 minute buer .
38 3 Press to rewind the song. TIP! Press and hold for 3 seconds to skip to the rst track. T o listen to the next track: 1 Press to skip to the next track. 2 Press and hold to fast f orward the song. TIP! T o return to the live XM broadcast, press and hold button until “Live” appears.
39 Special Features Select T uneS elect Song to be notied when the song is played on any channel. P ress the XM button 3 When an artist or song that you have T uneS elected plays on an y channel, you ’ll hear a special tone and message. T o switch to that channel, press the XM button .
40 T o remove an artist or song from your T uneSelect list: 1 Press menu . 2 Select Edit Alerts , and press the XM button . 3 Select Edit T uneSelect , and press the XM button . 4 Selec t the artist or song you want to r emove from your T uneS elect list, and press the XM button .
41 5 Select Do Not Alert to disable the aler t for that artist or song. P ress the XM button . Select Delete to remov e the artist or song from your list. Press the XM button . TIP! Y ou can switch between Alert On Artist and Alert On S ong at the “Edit Alerts > Edit T uneSelect” sub menu.
42 GameSelec t fav orite sports and teams Y ou can select up to 50 of your favorite sports and/or teams; you view their scores and stats at any time . In addition, you will be notied when they play on any XM channel. 1 Press menu . 2 Select Info Extras , and press the XM button .
43 Special Features 7 T o view current scores and stats for the sports and teams on your list, press inf o . 8 When your sport/team plays on an y channel, y ou’ll hear a special tone and rec eive a message. T o switch to that channel , press the XM button .
44 5 If applicable, select the team to be removed , and press the XM button . T o disable GameSelec t alert: 1 Press menu . 2 Select Edit Alerts , and press the XM button . 3 Select Edit GameSelec t , and press the XM button . 4 Select the spor t or team you no longer want t o be alerted about, and press the XM button .
45 3 Select Stocks , and press the XM button . 4 If you already have st ocks in your list, select Add Stock and press the XM button . If not, then this step will be skipped for you . 5 Turn the knob to select the letters for the stock symbol . Press the XM button after each letter .

48 How Else Can Y ou Use Y our Xpress RC ? XM oers a variety of accessories that allow y ou to adapt your Xpress RC solution to y our lifestyle and enhance your listening experience . With such accessories , you can take your single radio and also use it in the home, the oce , multiple vehicles or almost any loca- tion you like.

50 Configuring your Xpress RC T urn the FM modulator on/o (Car cradle only . For use with XM SureC onnect or FM Direct adapter .) If you are using the SureConnect or F M Direct Adapter to transmit audio , you must turn the FM Modulator on and set the F M frequency on both your Xpress RC and your car radio .
51 5 Y our Xpress RC automatically scans f or all available FM fr equencies. 6 Locate a suitable FM frequency from the list and press the XM button . 7 Set your car radio to the frequency selected. TIP! The best F M frequency to use is displayed at the top of the list.
52 2 Select V ehicle Mode , and press the XM button . 3 With the F M Modulator ON, select Frequency Finder and press . 4 Y our Xpress RC automatically scans f or all available F M frequencies.
53 Configuring your Xpress RC 6 Locate a suitable FM frequency from the list and press the XM button . 7 Set your car radio to the frequency selected.
54 4 T urn the knob to increase or decrease the level. 5 P ress the XM button . Do not use the Line Out Level menu item as a v olume control; use the volume con trol on your car stereo inst ead. Line Out Level is used to adjust the v olume level to match other audio sources (your CD pla yer , other FM stations, or MP3 player).
55 1 P ress menu . 2 S elect Set T one . 3 S elect Bass or T reble . 4 Turn the knob to change the level. 5 Press the XM button . 6 Press menu to return to normal operation. Aim antenna for best r eception For best r eception, your XM antenna should ha ve an unobstructed view of the XM satel- lites in the southern sky.

59 5 Turn the knob to: • On if your area participates in Daylight Savings Time • O if your area does not participate in Daylight Savings Time 6 Press the XM button . T o change the format of the time: 1 P ress menu . 2 S elect Set Time , and press the XM button .
60 Automa tic power Usually , your Xpress RC turns on automatically when it is plugged in and r eceiving power . Y ou can change this so you must manually turn the radio on/o each time. 1 Pr ess menu . 2 Select Set T ime , and press the XM button .
61 Configuring your Xpress RC Delayed po wer This option is available if you ar e using the car cradle and the cigarette lighter is alw ays powered . 1 P ress menu . 2 S elect Set Time , and press the XM button . 3 S elect Delayed P ow er , and press the XM button .
62 Sleep timer The Sleep Timer is av ailable only with the home stand and sound systems (sold sepa- rately). Y our Xpress RC has a sleep timer that can automatically shut o the unit after a period of time. By default, the sleep timer is set to OFF but you can set it f or 15, 30, 45 minutes or 1 hour .
63 F actory defaults Y ou can clear all of your personal settings (such as F avorite Channels , SongSaver songs, T uneSelects, GameSelects, Stocks, and Sports information) and return the radio to its out- of-the-box state. NOTE! Clearing y our personal settings permanently removes an y SongSaver songs and all personal settings.
64 Demo mode A sales demo will automatically play when your Xpr ess RC has not been activated and is not receiving a signal . After that, the sales demo will not appear . I f desired, y ou can activate the demo after your Xpress RC is activated. 1 Make sure your Xpress RC is not r eceiving a signal.
65 T roubleshooting.
66 Xpress RC has been designed and built to be trouble-free but if you experience a pr oblem, try this: • Check that all connections are rm and secure.
67 If you see this on the screen: T ry this O Air The channel you ’ve selected is not currently broadcasting. Tune to another channel. Loading Y our Xpress RC is acquiring audio or program information from the XM signal . T his message usually goes away in a few sec onds.
68 If this happens: T r y this No audio when listening to via an FM radio Check that your Xpress RC and your car r adio are tuned to the same FM frequency . Audio fades or has static when listening Check all cables for a rm and secure connection. If the problem persists, it might be interference from another FM channel.
