3 (1) (2) (A) (B) (C) (D) 2 2 3 1 T urn the Power On Do NOT connect the USB cable at this stage. • Plug in the power cord on the left side at the back of the machine and connect the other end to the wall outlet. Open the Operation Panel (A), then press the ON button (B) to turn on the machine.
4 (E) (A) (B) (C) (D) 3 1 2 Install the Print Head Raise the Print Head Lock Lever (E). Open the Paper Output T ray (A), then lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) (B) until it locks into place. The Scanning Unit (Cover) (B) is fixed automatically . The Print Head Holder (C) comes out.
5 (E) 5 4 3 Remove the Print Head from the silver package. Remove and discard the orange protective cap. T ilt the Print Head and set it in place. Lower the Print Head Lock Lever (E) completely .
6 (1) (2) (A) 4 1 2 Install the Ink T anks Do not hold the sides of the ink tank; ink may splash. • Pull the orange tape (1) in the direction of the arrow to peel off the protective film and remove the film (2) completely . If the Print Head Holder moves to the right, close and re open the Sca nning Unit (Cover ).
7 (B) 4 5 3 Install all the other ink tanks in the same wa y . Install all the ink tanks. Close the Scanning Unit (Cover) (B). W ait until the screen above appears (about 6 minutes) and go to the next step. The machine may make some operating noises when preparing to print.
8 (C) (C) (A) (B) 5 2 1 Align the Print Head Align the Print Head for better print results. This takes about 7 minutes. Use a sheet of supplied speciality paper (MP-101) for alignment. Make sure that the Output T ray Extension (B) is extended. • Open the Paper Support (A) and pull it out.
9 (E) (D) 4 3 Confirm the message on the LCD (E) and press the OK button. Print Head Alignment takes about 7 minutes to complete. W ait until the pattern is printed, then go to the next step. • Load a sheet of supplied speciality paper (MP-101) in the Rear Tray (D).
10 (E) (F) 5 6 5 Make sure that a pattern similar to the one shown in the illustration is printed. When an error message is displayed on the LCD, refer to "An Error Message Is Displayed on the LCD" in "T roubleshooting" in the on-screen manual: Advanced Guide .
11 6 Confirming the Setup Flow Confirming Y our Connection T ype ■ Before starting setup, decide on the most suitable connection method for the machine.
12 6 Quit all running applications before installation. Log into a user account with the administrator privilege. Do not switch user accounts during installation. It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and click OK , and do not remove the Setup CD- ROM during restarting.

USB Connection Setup the Machine and the Computer Next, read "13 Information" on page 31! When the machine is recognized by the computer , a message appears on the screen.
19 1 2 C 10 First-time Setup for Use over Wired LAN Setup the Machine and the Computer Set the machine's LAN setting to Wired LAN active beforehand. For details, refer to “7 Machine's LAN Setting” on page 14. • When a confirmation screen for the machine's LAN setting appears, click OK .
20 USB 3 C 4 10 When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable, then turn on the machine. Set up the machine over a USB connection until the network connection is complete. When the Setup Preparations dialog box appears, confirm that preparation is complete, then click Next .

Detect Access Point When the Access Points screen appears, select an access point to use, then click Connect . When an access point is detected automatically , the Access Points screen does not appear .

Make sure that the computer you are setting up is not connected to the machine with a USB cable. For wired LAN connections, conrm that the machine is connected to the network with a LAN cable.
29 3 G I J Windows Some programs that switch the network environment depending on your environment will enable a rewall by default. Check the settings of any such software. • When the Printers screen appears, make sure that the machine is selected and click Next .

When using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) or connecting an additional computer , make sure that the machine is turned on, then go to step . It is not necessary to connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
