A UT OMA TIC C OOKING Only the main ov en can be controlled automa tically . GUIDANCE ON A UT OMA TIC C OOKING 1. When planning your meal r emember that the oven c ontrol setting ref ers to the temperatur e on the middle shelf ; abov e this shelf it is hotter and below it is cooler .
7 TIMER OPERA TION CL OCKF ACE The timer incorporat es a 24 hour clock. Ensure the corr ec t time of da y is alwa ys set , before using you cooker . SYMBOLS Will light up when you select a Minute Minder Period and will r emain lit for the period set.
SET TING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven contr ols are turned Off. Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. When switched on the display will sho w 0.00 and "A" symbol, both will be flashing intermittently .
Step 3 Press & hold in the “ Cook P eriod” button, the display will read 0.00 with the cookpot symbol lit up. Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held set the required C ook Pe riod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
At the end of the A utomatic Cook P eriod the Aut o Symbol "A" will flash and an intermittent bleeping sound will be hear d. The sym bol will go out.
Step 4 Press & hold in the "C ook P eriod" button, the display will read 0.00 and the cookpot symbol will light up. With the Cook P eriod button still held set the required C ook Pe riod using the "+" and "–" buttons, the "A" symbol will ligh t up.
O THER NO TES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. T o cancel the Auto Cooking programme bef ore or after auto cooking star ts, pr ess the "Cook P eriod" and "End Time" buttons together , this will return the cooker to the manual operation.
13 HO TPLA TE The hotplate lid is fitt ed with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotpla te burners.
14 HO TPLA TE SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one thir d full with oil or fat . 2. Never lea ve oil or fat unatt ended during the heating or cooli ng period. 3. Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan. 4.
The top o ven can be used to cook small quan tities of food or us ed in conjunction with the main ov en to provide additional c ook ing space . The shelf in the top o ven has a heat shield fitted a t the rear . The shield can be remov ed for cleaning and grilling , but must be replaced when using the o ven.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the setting to giv e a result more to y our satisfaction. When a different setting to t ha t shown below is given in a r ecipe, the recipe instructions should be followed .

T O USE THE GRILL 1. Open the top ov en/grill door and remove the grill pan. 2. Remove the hea t shield from the rear of the shelf for maximum grilling area. 3. Place shelf in chosen position. Refer t o grilling char t. 4. Push in and turn the con trol knob clock wise to the large flam e symbol.
The f ollowing char t is a guide . Grilling can be star ted fr om co ld but for best results preheat f or approxima tely two minutes. Most cooking is done with the heat on full, but it may be desirable t o reduce it f or thicker pieces of meat or for keeping food warm.
The ov en has differen t heat zones – the thermostat settings ref er to the temperatur e on the middle shelf position; abov e this shelf it is hotter and below it is cooler . T w o shelves pro vide five possible cooking levels enabling full use of the differen t temperatures inside the o ven.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything r equiring long slow cooking such as casseroles and ric h fruit cak es can be put into a cold o ven. Satisfactor y r esults can also be obtained with creamed mixture, rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but f or per fection we rec ommend preheating the ov en for about 15 minutes a t the gas mark you require f or cooking.

The ‘Slow C ook ’ setting on the main o ven thermostat is used for slow cooking, keeping food warm and warming plat es for short per iods . USING THE ‘SL O W C OOK’ SET TING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes c ooked by the ‘Slow Cook’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
25 Swit ch off the elec tricity supply and allo w to cool befor e cleaning the cooker . Clean the cook er regularly and wipe up spills soon after they occur to pre ven t them from becoming burn t on.
CARE AND CLEANING C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts , burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compar tment , inside of doors. Cloth wrung out in warm soapy wat er . Stubborn stains can be remov ed with a cream paste , liquid cleaner or by rubbing with fine steel w ool soap pads.

28 Cannot set an “ Auto C ook” programme or cannot get the timer to turn the ov en on or off at the requir ed times. Read the Timer instructions in this book carefully remembering that the Cook period is the length of time that the timer will switch the ov en(s) on as par t of an A uto Cooking Progr amme.
29 Prior to installa tion, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment c onditions are compatible . The adjustment conditions for this applianc e are stated on the data badge which is fitt ed on the back panel.

31 SP ACE FOR FIXING The cooker can be close fitted below hotpla te level. This r equires a minimum distance of 540mm between cupboard units of hotplat e height. When installing next to a tall cupboard , par tition or w all, for a minimum distance of 400mm abov e hotplate level, allo w a side clearance of at least 65mm.

33 C ONNECTING T O GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to mat ch the depth of standard 600mm wor ktops. A n adaptor backplate should, ther efore , be fitted within the shaded ar ea shown to allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. If a f or ward facing back plate is used , it must be chased into the wall.
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a proper ly earthed , readily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly abov e, and not more than 1.25m a way from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such tha t it cannot touch hot par ts of the cooker i.
35 INST ALLA TION AND OPERA TIONAL CHECKS After installation, check for gas soundness . The supply pressur e can be checked at the grill injector . A ccess to the injector is by first r emoving the baffle at the front of the grill fastened by two scr ews.
