CHAPTER 1 TCP/IP CONFIGURATION 1-6 Using ARP to Conf igure the Print / F ax serv er IP Addr ess If you are unable to use t he BRAdmi n application, F AX/MFC front panel and your network does not use a DHCP server, y ou can also u se the ARP command. ARP is the simpl est method of configuri ng the Print / Fax server IP address.

Using TELN ET is effective way, w hen you change t he IP address. But a v alid IP address must already be prog rammed into the Print / Fax server.

If set to a non-zero value, the machine will contact this server to register its nam e with the Windo ws ® Internet Name Service.

CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-3 Sending an Inte r net F ax • Send the Internet Fax in the same way t o send a fax. If you have already pr ogrammed the addresses of the Internet Fax ad dresses into the FAX/MFC as a One Tou ch or Speed Dial, you can send the Internet Fax in the same way as y ou would send a n ormal fax.

CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-6 Receivin g E-mail or In tern et F a x There are 2 ways y ou can receive E-m ail messages: • POP3 receiving at regular intervals • POP3 receiving (manually initiated) • SMTP receiving Using POP3 receiving the F AX/MFC machine must poll the E-mail server to receive the print jobs.
CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-7 Receivin g an Inter net F ax to a PC When a PC r eceives an Internet Fax d ocument, the do cument is attached to a mail message that informs the P C that it is receiving a document from an Internet Fax. This is notifie d in the Subject field of the received mail message.
CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-8 Relay Br oadcasting This function allows the Bro ther FAX/MFC to receive a document over the Internet, and then relay it to other fax machines t hrough conventional telephone lines.

CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-11 TX V erif i cation Mail Transmission Verifi cation Mail supports two separat e functions. Verification Mail for sending allows you request notification from the receiving station that the I-Fax or E-mail was received and processed.
CHAPTER 4 INTERNET FAX 4-12 Receive Notification “ MD N ” When switched to “ MDN ” a report as descri bed above is sent back to the sending station if t he originating station sent the “ MDN ” field to request confirmation.
