Released in April 2009, the Br other HL -5300 series printer is based on a new 32ppm, true 1200 DPI laser engine. These machines hav e a first page out in less than 8.5 seconds and come standard with 1 6 or 32Mb of memor y , depending on the machine. The HL -5300 series also hav e built-in duplexing.
BASIC BROTHER PRINT THEOR Y As with previous Br other car tridges, the wast e toner is repelled out of the drum car tridge and picked up b y the dev eloper rolle r in the toner cartridge and brought back into supply chamber . That is why there will alwa ys be a good amount of toner left in the supply chamber when the car tridge is finished.
1. V acuum the ext erior of the car tridge. Remo ve the fill plug from the t oner car tridge. Dump the remaining toner and vacuum/blow out the cartridge. Even though the gears are cov ered on these car tridges, we ha ve f ound it best to k eep one hand ov er the gear side to pr otect them.
5. The reset gear is spring-loaded and must be positioned correctly for the print er to accept a ne w car tridge. Our printer came with a TN620 starter car tridge that had a reset gear installed so all car tridges would be able to be recy cled. 6. Remo ve the black plastic spacer fr om the dev eloper roller shaf t.

1 0. Remo ve the dev eloper roller . Vacuum the doct or blade and foam f eed r oller clean. Until new blades are a vailable, we do not recommend that the doctor blade be remo ved or the dev eloper roller f elt seals disturbed.
13. Install the non-gear side axle plat e. Make sure the clear plastic plug f or the optical sensor is locked in the pr oper posit ion. Clean the gears making sure that they ha ve no t oner on them. This is a good time to also check the gear shafts to make sure there is enough grease.

1 6. Install the gear cov er plate and two scre ws: For the TN620 . For the TN650 . 1 7 . On the non-gear side, install the outer axle plate co ver and screw . 18. 19. R eplace the fill plug. Wipe the car tridge down to remo ve an y remaining toner dust. 20. Install the dev eloper roller co ver . TEST P AGES 1. Press the “GO” Button 1x with the fr ont cov er closed and the "READ Y" light on. 2. A test sam ple page will print 3.
