1-7 Introd ucti on Overview of the Installation Pr ocess The following steps pro vide an overview of the pr ocess of installin g and configurin g the ASA-72 1 1 adapter: 1 V erify that your computer meets the requir ements described in System Requ irements on page 1- 4 .
2-1 2 Installing the Adapt ec iSCSI Adapter T o install the adapter in a PCI slot in a computer : 1 T urn off the power to the computer and disconnect the power cord. 2 Before handling the board, discharge any static electr icity from your body by touching a grounded metal obje ct such as the exposed metal parts on the back of your co mputer .
2-2 ASA-7211C/F Installatio n Guide 5 Insert the adapter in the PCI expan sion slot. Press the board firmly into the slot until it cli cks into place. Repla ce the slot cover screw . Note: So me ASA-721 1 adapters are manufactur ed with jumpers “h angin g,” but not ins talled, on jum per connectors J4 and J5.

T o verify the driver installation, open the Device Manager and view the driver , as shown below. Updating the Driver in Windows 2000 T o update the driver: 1 Open the W indows Device Manager .

4-1 4 Configuring Y our iSCSI System In this Chapter Now that yo u have installed your Adaptec iS CSI adapter and driver , you need to establish Ethernet connectivity between your adapter and yo ur targets. Then, run iConfig and use it to configu re your iSCSI system .
