6 1 Warnings and Safety information The navigation system helps you find your way to your destination with the built-in GPS receiver. Blaupunkt Navigation does not tran smit your GPS position; others cannot track you.
7 2 Getting started Blaupunkt Navigation is optimised for in-car or pe destrian use. There is no need to use a stylus. You can use it easily by tapping the sc reen buttons and the map with your fingertips. When using the navigation software for the fi rst time, an initial setup process starts automatically.
8 7. The initial setup is now complete. The Conf iguration wizard can be restarted later from the Settings menu (page 71). 8. Blaupunkt Navigation offers you to watch t he tutorial that leads you through the basi c steps of navigation. Tap if you would like to get an instant understanding of the functions of your softw are.
9 List When you need to select from several options, they appear in a list. Grab the list anywhere and slide your finger up or down. Depending on the speed of the sliding, the list will scroll fast or slow, only a bit or till the end. Alternatively, move between pages with the and buttons and tap the value that you want.
10 2.1.1 Using keyboards You only need to enter letters or num bers when you cannot avoid it. You can type with your fingertips on the full-screen keyboards a nd you can switch between various keyboard layouts, for example English, Greek or numeri cal.
11 2.1.2 Beyond single screen tap You usually need to tap the screen only once. However, some useful features can be accessed with combined t ouch screen tapping.
12 2.2 Map screen 2.2.1 Navigating on the map The Map screen is the most frequently used screen of Blaupun kt Navigation. A small live map is displayed on the startup sc reen, the Navigation menu, as a part of the button. To enlarge this small map and op en the Map screen, tap .
13 Tap any of the data fiel ds to suppress others and display only the sel ected one. The data fields are different when you are navig ating an active route and when you have no specified destination (the orange line is not displa yed).
14 2.2.2 Position markers 2.2.2.1 Vehimarker and Lock-on-Road When your GPS position i s available, Blaupunk t Navigation marks your current position with the Vehimarker. By default, this marker is a blue arrow, but you can change this icon i n Settings.
15 There is a field in the top left corner that display s the next manoeuvre. Both the type of the event (turn, roundabout, exiting mo torway, etc.) and its di stance from the current position are displayed. A smaller icon shows the type of the second ne xt manoeuvre if it is near the first one.
16 Approaching the destination. 2.2.3.3 Lane information and Signposts When navigating on multilane road s, it is import ant to take the appropriate lane in order to follow the recommended route.
17 Elevated roads Complex intersections and vertically is olated roads (such as overpasses or bridges) are displayed in 3D. 3D landmarks Landmarks are 3D artistic or block r epresentation s of prominent or well- known object s. 3D buildings 3D block representation of full city building data containing actual building size and position on the map.
18 Tap to open the Traffic Summary screen. Tap to open the list of traffic events: Now tap any of the list items to see its details, and to display the affected road segment in its full length on the .
19 Action Button(s) Description Moving the map with drag &drop No buttons You can move the map in any direction: tap and hold the map, and move your finger towards the direction you wa nt to move the map. Zooming in and out , Changes how much of the map is displayed on the screen.
20 Return to normal navigation Tap this button to move the map back to follow the current GPS position. Automatic map rotation is also re-enabled. The map manipulation buttons disappear and navigation continues.
21 This button opens the list of your Favourite destinations. Find / Favourite (page 46) This button opens the Hi story list. You can select one of your previous destinations. Find / History (page 48) This button opens the route editing fun ction. My Route / Edit Route This button opens the route related settings.

24 2.3 Navigation menu You can reach all parts of Blaupun kt Navigation from the Navigation menu. You have the following options: • Tap to select your destination by entering an add ress or selecting a place of interest, a location on the map or one of your Favou rite destinations.
25 3 Navigating You can set up your route in different ways: • If you need a route for immediate navigation, you can select the destination and start navigating to it right away (normal navigation).
26 3.1.1.1 Entering an address To enter an address as the destinatio n, do as follows: 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu. 2. In the Navigation menu, tap the following buttons: , . 3. By default, Blaupunkt Navigation proposes the country and settlement where you are.

28 Tip! If you know that you will use this destin ation frequently, before tapping to confirm the destination, put it on the list of you r Favourites first: tap then , give a name for the new Favourit e, and tap to save the location. The map with the destination returns automatically.

31 3.1.1.4 Selecting a city/town centre as the destination The city/town centre is not the geometric centre of the settlement but an arbitrary point the map creators have chosen. In towns and villages, it is usually the most important intersection; in larger cities, it is one of the important intersections.

As pos tal codes consist of only a few charac ters, this is usually faster than entering the na me of the city/town. 3.1.2 Selecting the destination fr om the Places of Interest You can select your destination fro m the Places of Interest included with Blaupunkt Navigation.
36 4. (optional) The Places in the list are or dered by the length of the necessary detour (when navigating a route ) or by their di stance from the current position (when no destination is given). If you need to reorder the list, tap . 5. Browse the list if necessary and tap one of the list items.
37 3. The preset search categories ap pear: • : • If an active route exists, petrol st ations are se arched along the route. • If there is no active route (destination is not selected ), they are searched around the current position.
38 5. (optional) The Places in the list are order ed by their distance from t he current or last known position, from the destination or by the length of the necessary detou r. If you need to reorder the list, tap . 6. Browse the list if necessary and tap one of the list items.
39 • Tap to search for a place within a selected city/town. (The result list will be ordered by the dist ance from the centre of the selected city/town.) • Tap to search for a place around the destination of the active route. (The result list will be orde red by the distance from the destination.
40 8. Sometimes the list of brands in the sele cted Place subcategory appears. Select one brand or tap to list all Places in the selected subcategory around the selected location or alo ng the route.
41 3.1.2.4 Searching for a Place of Interest by name You can search for Place s of Interest by their names. You can se arch a round different locations or along your route in the whole Place database or in one Place category or subcategory only. 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu.
42 5. (optional) If you have selected , select the city/town to search in. 6. Select one of the main Place categories (e.g. Accommodation ) to search in or tap to search among all Places. 7. Select one of the Place subcategories (e.g . Hotel or Motel) to sea rch in or tap to search in the selected Place category.
43 10. After entering a few letters, tap to open the list of Places with names containing the enter ed character sequence. 11. (optional) The Places in the list are order ed by their distance from t he current or last known position, from the selected city/town, fr om the destin ation or by the length of the necessary detour.
44 3.1.2.5 Selecting nearby assistance from 'Where Am I?' You can quickly search for nearby assist ance from the 'Where Am I?' screen.
45 6. Browse the list if necessary and tap one of the list items. A full screen map appears with the selected point in the middle. Th e name and address of the Place is di splayed at the top of the screen. 7. (optional) Tap to see the details of the selected Place.

Tap to modify route parameters, or tap and start your journey. 3.1.4 Selecting the destination from your Favourites You can select a location t hat you have already saved as a Favour ite to be your des tination.

48 3.1.6 Selecting a recent destin ation from the History The destinations that you have se t earli er appear in the History. 1. Access the History: • If you are on the Map screen, tap and then tap . • If you are in the Navigation menu, tap and then tap .
49 3.1.7 Entering the coordinate of the destination You can also select a de stination by ent ering its coordinate. Do as follows: 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu. 2. In the Navigation menu, tap . 3. Open the menu and tap .

Tap to modify route parameters, or tap and start your journey. 3.1.8 Building a route from the list of destinations (Create Route) You can also build your rou te destination by destination from the My Route menu.

To add more destinations, tap where you want to insert the new route point in the list, and repeat the above procedure. 3.2 Viewing the entire route on the map It is easy to get a map overview of the active route. Do as follows: 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu.
52 • The total time of the route. • The total length of the route. • Estimated delay calculated from traffic events on you r route. • The symbol of the vehicle ty pe used in route calculation.
53 • Tap to plan a new route to the newly selected location. The previo us destination and waypoint(s) are deleted . • Tap to add the newly selected location as an inte rmediate destination to your route. The other destinations of the route remain intact.
54 4. The first line is the start of the rout e, normally the current GPS position. Tap and confirm your action at the warning message. 5. The Destination menu app ears and you can sele ct the start point of the route the same way you select a destination.
55 3.4.3 Editing the list of dest inations (Edit Route) You can edit the route by modifying the list of destinations. You can add or remove destinations, modify the start position or reorder the list. 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu.
56 3.4.5 Cancelling the active route To cancel the navigated route, do one of the following: • If you are on the Map screen, tap and then tap . (If you have a route with waypoints, you need to tap until all waypoints are deleted.) • In the Navigation menu, tap and then tap .
57 5. Or if you cannot find a good alternative, tap and scroll down for routes with different routing methods. 6. Select one of the route alternatives and tap to return to the previous screen. Blaupunkt Navigation recal culates the route. The orange line now shows the new recomm ended route.

59 3. Blaupunkt Navigation recal culates the ro ute optimised for the new vehicle type. The orange line now shows the new re commended route. 3.4.9 Changing the road types used in route planning To recalculate the active route with diff erent road type preferences, do as follows.
60 3.5 Saving a location as a Favourite destination You can add any location to Favourites, the lis t of frequently use d destinations. Planning a route to one of the Favourite destination s is described on page 46. 1. Select a destination as described befor e.
61 3. Scroll down the list and tap . 4. On the newly opened screen, select the type of the alert point, the direction from whi ch you expect the alert, and (if applicable) the speed limi t for this alert point. 5. Tap to save the location as a new alert point.
62 3.8 Watching the simu lation of the route You can run a simulated navigation that demon strates the ac tive route. Do as follows: 1. If you are on the Map screen, tap to return to the Navigation menu. 2. In the Navigation menu, tap . 3. Tap . 4. Scroll down the list and tap .

64 4 Reference Guide On the following pages you will find the descr iption of the different con cepts and menu screens of Blaupunkt Navigation. 4.1 Concepts 4.
65 CO 2 emission calculations are e stimations only. They cannot take elevations, curves and traffic conditions into account. • : Results in a route with fewer turn s and no difficult manoeuvres. With this option, you can make Bla upunkt Navigation to take, for example, the motorway instead of a se ries of smaller roads o r streets.
66 • • Whenever data exist, route calculation takes into account statis tical traffic data for the given day of week and time of day (page 69). Real -time Traffic events are also taken into ac count and som etimes greatly modify the route.
67 4.1.5 Road safety cameras and ot her proximity alert points There is a special proximity warning for road safety cameras (like speed or red light cameras) and other proximity alert points (li ke schools or railroad crossings). These alert points are not part of Blaupunkt Navigation.
68 4.1.7 GPS position quality indicator and current time You can find useful information in the top corners of menu screens. The current time is displayed in the top left corner. In the top right corner, the GPS reception qua lity icon show s the current accuracy of the position information.
69 4.1.8.2 Real-time traffic information (TMC Unlike statistical traffic information, TMC (T raffic Message Channe l) can provide you with the real-time status of the traf fic. Route calcul ation can avoid road bloc ks or unex pected traffic jams caused by an accident.
70 Now tap any of the list items to see its details, and to display the affected road segment in its full length on the map: Note! If there are traffic events on the recomm ended route that the application has no t bypassed, the icon will open the list of significant traffic events to let you quickly check them.
71 The Fuel consumption monitor helps yo u keep track of the consumption of your car even if you do not use nav igation for all your journey s. Set the initial odometer value and then record the distan ce taken and fuel filled in whenever you fill your ca r.
72 The content of t he Quick menu (page 20) is fully customisable. Tap the button yo u want to change, and se lect its new function from the list. The recommended route i s not always the same between two poi nts. Whenever suitable data exists, traffic i nformation can be taken into account in the route calculation.
73 4.3.1 Sound and Warnings Adjust the sound volume, mute your device or change the voi ce guidance language. In addition, you can enable and set up diff erent warnings and alerts. Button Description Tap this button to adjust the volume of the different sounds in the application.
74 The application can warn you when you approa ch road safety cameras like spe ed cameras or dangerous areas like school zones or railroad crossings. Tap this button and set the different ale rt types individually.
75 Controls for each sound type: Button Description Volume slider Adjusts the volume of the related sound. Use the switch to mute the related sound. The slide r becomes inactive. Tap again to re-enable. 4.3.2 Customise Quick menu The content of the Quick menu (page 20) is fully customisabl e.

77 Vehicle types: • : • Manoeuvre restrictions and dire ctional constraints are taken into account when planning a route. • Roads are used only if access for cars is allowed. • Private roads and resident-only roads a re used only they are inevitable to reach the destination.
78 Gives a quick but fuel efficient r oute based on the fuel consumption data given in Green Routing settings (page 78). Travel cost and CO 2 emission calculations are estim a tions only. They cannot take elevations, curves and traffic conditions i nto account.
79 4.3.6 Map settings You can fine-tune the appearan ce of the Map screen. Adjust the map view to your needs, choose suitable colour themes from the list for both daytime and night use, change the blu.
80 Select which Places to sh ow on the map while navigating. Too many Places make the map crowded so it is a good idea too keep as fe w of them on the map as possible. For th is, you have the possibility to save different Place visibility sets. Y ou have the following possibilities: • Tap the checkbox to show or hide the Place categ ory.
81 Select the style and colours of the appli cation used in night mode. Adjust the display backlight. 4.3.9 Regional settings These settings allow you t o customise the app lication for your local language, measurement units, time and date settings and formats, as well as to choose the ti me zone.
82 4.3.11 Log collection settings If you accept this when first using the application, it collects usage information and GPS log s that may be used for improving the applicat ion and the quality and coverage of map s. The data is processed anonymously; no one will be able t o track any personal information.
83 5 Glossary 2D/3D GPS reception The GPS receiver uses satellite signal s to calculate its (your) position and needs at least four signals to give a th ree-dimensional position, including elevation. Beca use the satellites are moving and because obje cts can block the signals, your GPS device might not receive four signals.
84 North-up map orientation In North-up mode the ma p is rotated so its top al ways faces North. This is the orientation for example in Find on Map. See also: Track-u p map orientation. Road Safety Camera Special alert points for speed, red light or bus la ne cameras.
