7 ◆ Operational range Operate the remot e control within a distance of 10 m from the projector , pointing the light beam at the remote control sensor (front or rear) of the projector . Caution • K eep the remote control sensor out of direct sunlight or fluorescent lamp light.
8 ◆ Setting up the screen Install the screen perpendicularly to the pr ojector . If the screen can not be installe d in such a way , adjust the projection an gle of the projector as show n below . Important • Bef ore setting up the screen, be sure to set SCREEN ASPECT in the SETUP menu to either 16:9 or 4:3.

10 ◆ Screen size and projection distance Refer to the follo wing diagram to determine the screen size. When the aspect ratio of the scr een is 16:9 • The above figures are approximate and m ay be slightly d ifferent from the actual measurements.
11 ◆ Basic home theater system connection Important • Make sure that the power of the projector and that of the video equipment a re tur ned off. • Connection methods and ter minal names may diff er depending on the video equipment you are connnecting.
12 ◆ Connecting to a video pla yer , etc . Using the VI DEO terminal 1. Conn ect one end (yellow) of a commercially av ailable video cable to the VIDEO input terminal of this projector. 2. Conn ect the other end (yellow) of the video cab le to the VIDEO output termina l of the video equipment.
13 ◆ HDMI or D VI connections Y ou can project high-quality images by c onnecting the HDMI input terminal of this pr ojector to video equi pment having a HDMI ou tput terminal or a D VI-D output ter minal. In addition, this projecto r supports HDCP and is able to re cei ve encrypted digital video d ata that are output from D VD players.
14 ◆ Connecting to a computer Important • Make sure that the po wer of the projecto r and that of the computer are tur ned off. • When connecting the pro jector to a desktop computer , disc onnect the RGB cable that is connected to the monitor .
15 ◆ TRIGGER terminal The TRIGGER terminal on the rear of the projector is a terminal that outputs 12 V signal to cont rol an e xternally connected equ ipment whe n images are projected. T o use the TRIGGER terminal, set TRIGG ER OUT to ON in the SETUP menu.
16 ◆ Viewing video images Preparatio n: • Always rem ov e the lens cap before operating the projector . • T urn on the power of the connected video equipment.

18 Examples of the aspect ratio Y ou can change the aspect ratio of the inpu t video sig nal (or the ratio of width to he ight of the image). Display pattern chang es ac cording to the setting of SCREE N ASPECT in the INITIAL m enu. The follo wing table is in the case of 16:9 screen.

Press the ST ANDBY/ON () button on the projector or the ST ANDB Y ( ) button on the remote control. • A conf irmation message is displayed. • T o cancel the procedure, wait a while or press the MEN U button. 2. Press the ST ANDBY/ON () button on the projector or the ST ANDBY ( ) button on the remote con trol again.
21 ◆ Menu o ver view Menus are not displa yed when no signal is received by the pr ojector . After selecting the ite ms marked with , press the ENTER b utton. *1: Not available with certain signals. *2: The defaul value and the setting range differ depending on the input signal.

26 4. SIGNAL menu * The default v alue and the setting range differ depending on the input signals. • Horizontal strips may appear on the enlarged projected image. • When changing a horizontal or v ertical pos ition to a large e xtent, noise may appear .
27 ◆ Selecting the gamma mode (GAMMA) Y ou can select a preset gamma mode by using the menu (see page 23). 1. Displ a y the IMAGE menu. 2. Select GAMMA by pressing the or button. 3. Select your desired gamma mode by pressing the or b utton. • Select DEF A UL T for normal use.

30 ◆ Saving memory settings The memory function sa ves u p to 3 patterns of the image quality settin gs for each input source. Follo wing is the list of items that can be sav ed. * Y o u can not change the customized setting in GAMMA and COLOR TEMP .
31 This projector automatically and properly pr ojects video signa ls supplied from the computer . Ho we ver , some video signals may no t be projected depending on the type of the compu t er . In such cases, press the A UTO SYNC bu tton on the projector or the A UTO b utton on the remote control (see page 20).
32 This projector is equipped with a lamp to proje ct images. This lamp is a cons umable, so it may b urn out or its brightness may d ecrease during use. If this happens, replace the lamp with a new one as soon as possible. B e sure to replace the lamp with a ne w , commercially a v ailable lamp that is e xclusi ve to this projector .
33 ◆ Replacing the lamp W arning • Do not replace th e lamp i mmediately after using the proj ector because the lamp wo uld be extremel y hot and it may cause b urns. 1. Carefull y turn th e projector upside-down (a). 2. Loo sen the screw (b) using a Phillips screwdriver (+), and remov e the lamp co ve r (c).

35 ◆ T roub leshooting Refer to the ch art belo w when this p rojec tor does not function properly . If the problem you are e xperiencing is not listed belo w or if the instructions do not help, stop using th e projector and contact your dealer . No image appear s on the sc reen.
36 Images are not disp lay ed correc tly . “NO SIGN AL” is displayed. • Turn on the powe r of the connected equ ipment, or check whether there is something wrong with the connected equipment. • Check whether the external equipmen t outputs signals.
37 Other s If the f ollo wing pr oble m occurs aft er the lamp is repl aced, chec k the follo wing fir st. Problem Solu tion The exhaust v ents emit warm air . • This air comes out after cooling the inside of the projector . It may fe el hot, but this is not a malfuncti on.
