12 Positioning your projector P ositioning y our pr ojector Choosing a location Y our pr ojector is designed to be installed in one of four possible installation locations. Y our r oom lay out or personal pref erence will di ctate which installation location y ou select.
13 Positioning your projector Obtaining a pr efer r ed pr ojected image size The distance fr om the projector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the pr ojected image size.
14 Positioning your projector If you place the pr ojector in a different position (t o th at recommended), y ou will hav e to tilt it down or up to center the image on the scr een. In these situ ations, some image distortion will occur . Use the K eystone function to corr ect the distor tion.

16 Positioning your projector Shifting the pr ojection lens The lens shift contr ol pro vides flexibility for installi ng y our projector . It allows the pr ojec tor to be positioned off t he center of the screen. The lens shift is expressed as a per centage of the pr ojected image height or width.
17 Connecting with video equipment Connecting with video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to an y type of video e quipment, such as a VCR, DVD pla yer , Blu-ray pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , video game co nsole or digital camera.

The RC A type component video jacks are pr ovided for connection to video output devices. Y ou should also connect the separate audio cable to a suitable audi o amplifier .
19 Connecting with video equipment Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a key combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.

If not already in, plug the supplied po wer cable into the A C inlet on the rear of the projector . 3. Plug the pow er cable into a wall pow er outlet and turn the wall switch on.
21 Connecting with video equipment Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be connected to mu ltiple equipment at the same time. When the pr ojector is first turned on , it will attempt to reconnect with the input sour ce which was in use when the pr ojector was last shut down.
22 Connecting with video equipment Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD men us, please set the OSD menu to y our familiar language .
23 Connecting with video equipment Utilizing the passw ord function For security purposes and to help pre vent unauthorized use, the projector includes an option for setting up passw ord security . The passwor d can be set through the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menu.

These can be used if necessary to change the pr ojection angle . Scre w the feet in or out as appr opriate to aim and le vel the pr ojection angle.

27 Connecting with video equipment Setting the User 1/User 2/User 3 mode There ar e three user -definable modes if the cur rent a vailable picture modes are not suitable fo r your need. Y ou can use one of the pictur e modes (except the selected User mode) as a starting point and customize the settings.
28 Connecting with video equipment Fine-tuning the pictur e quality No matter what picture mode y ou ha v e selected, you are able to f ine-tune those settings to fit every presentation purpose. Those adjustments will be sa ved to the pr eset mode you are at when y ou exit the OSD menu.

34 Connecting with video equipment Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend that yo u activate High Altitude Mode when your envir onment is higher than 1500 meters (around 4920 f eet) above sea lev el, or whenev er the projector will be used fo r extended periods of time (>10 hours) without shutdown.

45 Connecting with video equipment Lamp information Getting to know the lamp hour When the pr ojector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp usage is automatically calculated by the built-in timer .

An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode .
