Introduc tion 13 Remote contr ol effective range Infra-Red (IR) r emote control sensors are locat ed on the fr ont and the r ear of the projector . The remote control m ust be held at an angle within 30 degrees perpendicular to the projector's IR remote control sensors to function cor rectly .
Positioning your project or 14 P ositioning y our projector Choosing a location Y our projector is designed to be installed in one of four possible in stallation loca tions: Y our room la yout or personal prefer ence will dictate which installation locatio n you select.
Positioning your project or 15 Obtaining a pr eferr ed pr ojected image size The distance from the pr ojector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the p rojected image size.
Positioning your project or 16 L W61ST For example, if you are using a 120 -inch screen, the r ecommended projection distance is 1263 mm and the vertical offset is 81 mm. If your measur ed projection distance is 1.5 m (1500 mm), the closest match in the "Distance from screen (mm)" column is 1579 mm.
Connection 17 Connection When connecting a sig nal sour ce to the projector , be sure to: 1. T urn all equipment off befor e making any connections. 2.
Connection 18 • Many notebooks do not turn on their external vide o ports when connected to a projector . Usually a ke y combo like FN + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the extern al display on/off. Locate a function k ey labeled CR T/ LCD or a function key with a monitor symbol on th e notebook.
Connection 19 Once connected, the audio can be contr olled by the projector On-Scr een Displa y (OSD) menus. See "Audio Settings" on page 45 for details. The table below describes the connection methods for differ ent devices, and wher e the sound is fr om.
Operat ion 20 Operation Star ting up the pr ojector 1. Plug the power cor d into the projector and into a powe r outlet. T urn on the power outlet switch (where fitted). Check that the PO WER in dicator light on t he projector lights orange after power has been applied.
Operation 21 Adjusting the pr ojected image Adjusting the pr ojection angle The projector is equipp ed 2 adjuster feet. These adjusters change the image height and projection angle. T o adjust the pr o jector : Scre w the adjuster feet to fine-tune the horizontal angle .
Operat ion 22 Corr ecting k eystone K eystoning ref ers to the situation w here the projected imag e is noticeabl y wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the pr o j ector is not perpendicular to the screen.
Operation 23 Using the menus The projector is equipp ed with On-Scr een Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. Below is the ov erview of the OSD menu. The following example describes ho w to set the OSD language. 1. Press ME NU/EXI T on the projector or remote contr ol to turn the OSD menu on.
Operat ion 24 Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The projector has to be installed in a safe pl ace to prev ent theft. Otherwise , purchase a lock, such as the K e nsington lock, to secur e the pr ojector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the projector .
Operation 25 If you f orget the passw ord If the passw ord function is activated, y ou will be ask e d to enter the six-digit password e ver y time you turn on the projector . If you enter the wrong passw ord, the passw ord error message as pictur ed to the right is displa yed lasting for 3 seconds, and the INPUT PA S S W O R D message follows.
Operat ion 26 Disabling the passw ord function T o disable passw ord protection, go back to the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced > Security Settings > Change Security Settings menu after opening the OSD menu system . Press MODE/ENTER. The messag e “INPUT P ASSW ORD” is display ed.
Operation 27 Switching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple de vices at the same time. Howev er , it can only displa y one full screen at a time.
Operat ion 28 Magnifying and sear ching for details If you need to find th e details on the projected pictur e , magnify the pictur e. Use the direction ar row k eys for na vigating the picture. • Using the remote control 1. Press ZOOM+/ ZOOM- to displa y the Z oom bar .
Operation 29 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inac tive ar eas and the white por tions are activ e areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Auto : Scales an image proportionally to fit the pr ojector's native resolution in its horizontal or vertical width.
Operat ion 30 Optimizing the image Using W all Color In the situation wher e you ar e pr ojecting on to a colored surface such as a painted w all which ma y not be white, the W all Color feature can help cor rect the pr ojected picture’ s colors to pre vent possible color difference betw een the sour ce and pr ojected pictures.
Operation 31 6. Press to select a men u item to be ch anged and adjust the value with / . See "Fine-tuning the image quality in user modes" below for details. 7. When all settings ha ve been done, highlight Save Settings and press MODE/ ENTER to store the sett ings.
Operat ion 32 There ar e many differ ent shades that are cons ider ed to be "white" for various purposes. One of the common methods of r epresenting white color is known as the “color temperature”. A white color with a low color temperature appears to be reddish white.
Operation 33 Saturatio n is the amount of that color in a video picture. Lower settings pr oduce less saturated colors; a setting of “0” remo ves that color fr om the image entire ly . If the saturation is too high, that color will be overpow ering an d unrealistic.
Operat ion 34 T o cancel the timer , perform the followin g steps: 1. Go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Basic > Presentation Timer men u and highlight Off . Press MODE/ ENTER . A confirmation message is display ed. 2. Highlight Ye s and pr ess MODE/ENTER to confirm.
Operation 35 Locking contr ol k eys With the control k eys on the projector lock ed, you can pre vent your pr ojector settings from being changed accidentall y (by children, for example). When the Panel Key Lock is on, no control k eys on the projector will operate except POWER .
Operat ion 36 4. If the action is successful, you see the message ' Captured Succeeded ' on the screen. The captur ed picture is sa ved as MyScreen . 5. T o view the captured pictur e display ed as the startup screen, set MyScreen in the SYSTEM SETU P: Basic > Splash Screen menu and restart the projector .
Operation 37 Pr esenting fr om a USB Reader This featur e displa ys a slide show of images stor ed on a USB flash drive connected to the projector . It can eliminate the need for a computer source. Suppor ted image formats: • Not all PDF files can be displa yed.
Operat ion 38 During a slide show Setting page Y ou can adjust the file order and Slidesho w settings. When you ar e done , press OK to sa ve the settings or press Cancel to ignore the change.
