10 Getting Star ted A ttaching the strap The Jo ybee 180 has a stylish design, enabling y ou to c on- nect it to your belt using the strap or carr y it around using the car r y stra p. T o attach the st rap, do the fol lowing: 1. T urn the ring arou nd the OLED screen in the clockw ise dire c ti on t o st ar t rem ov ing it .
11 3. Place the ring on top of the should er strap ring, ar ound the OLED screen. 4. T urn the ring i n anti- clock - wise directio n and fix it in place.
12 5. Flip the player over and insert the other end of the shoulder strap int o the slot on the back panel. A ttaching the carr y str ap T o attach the carry strap, do the following: 1. Remove the stra p if it i s attached. 2. Insert the car r y strap int o the slot on the back panel of the Joybee 180.
13 2. Remov e the ring by lifting i t. Remov e the strap by sliding it out if it is attached. 3. Rem ove t he o ut er co ver of the Jo ybee 180 by unlocking the snaps on its outer edges . 4. Snap the desired cov er on the Jo ybee 180 and turn the ring in co unt ercl oc kw is e di rec - tion to comple te rep lace- ment.
14 Charging the batter y The Jo ybee 180 can be charged using the A C power adapter (optional accessory) as well as from t he PC. Charging is done through the USB por t as follows: • Exact charging time differs according t o battery status. • Chargers for use in some areas ma y not have an indicat or .
15 Charging using the AC po wer adapter Connect th e AC power adapter to the USB soc ket of the Jo ybee 180 using the USB cable pr ovided. Connect the adapter t o a wall outlet. The batter y star ts charg ing. T he battery is fully charged in about 4.
16 Connecting the Jo ybee 180 to a PC Connect the Jo ybee 180 to y our PC using the USB cable provide d. When the J oybee 180 is successfully connected to the PC, there are three indications as follo ws. •A n e w i c o n Rem ov a b le D i sk appears in the My C o m - puter wi nd o w o n y ou r PC.
17 • If your operation system is W indow s 98SE, please install driver first, or your PC won ’t be able to recognize your Jo ybee 180 as a flash disk. Y ou can find the driver in Joybee 180 CD-R OM. • If the Jo ybee 180 is off when it is connected to the PC, it turns on automatically and acts as a USB storage device.
18 3. Another dialog box as shown below appears on the screen. Select BenQ J oybee 180 MP3 Player USB Devic e and press OK . 4. When the following dialog box appears on the screen, press OK and discon nect the Jo ybee 180 from the PC.
19 Installing the software Insert the software CD pro vided with the Joybee 180 in the CD-ROM on your PC. The following installation men u is dis- played o n the PC screen. Select the desired software you want to install and click it. • Please read the table below to know more about the details before you start using QMusic.

Joybee 180 enters the last used mode automatically (default is MP3/WMA playback). If there ar e files on the Jo ybee 180, the titles of these files are displa yed on the screen.
23 T ransferr ing data to the Jo yb ee 180 Y ou can transfer your music files to the Joybee 180 using W in- dows File M anager as well as the QM usic software pro vided on the software disc. QM usic provid es the addi tional functi on to enable you to c onv ert your audio CDs into MP3 files and copy them to the player .
24 Playing MP3/WMA/W A V music files U se the following procedure t o quickly start listening to your favo rite music on the BenQ Jo ybee 180 MP3 Playe r. 1. T urn on the Joybee 180. The player ent ers the last used mode automatically and di splays a list of files i f present.

26 Selecting an EQ mode The Jo ybee 180 provides seven equalizer modes to e nhance the quality of audio . Select the EQ mode as described in the fol- lowing proc edure. 1. Press and hold th e MODE button for two seconds to display a menu. 2. U s e t he or keys to select the EQ option.
27 Listening to FM radio The radio mode of the Joybee 180 enables you t o listen to FM radio a s foll ows. 1. T urn on the Joybee 180. 2. Press the MODE button repeatedly to switch t o FM mode. 3. Choose a FM frequency using one of the procedur es described below: • Press the or keys to skip to the previous or next frequency .
28 Saving preset channels in memory Y ou can sav e your fa vorit e channels for quick acc ess as follows: 1. W hen listen ing to your favorite channel, press and hold the MODE key for 2 seconds to display a pop-up men u. 2. 29 U si ng th e re corde r fun c ti on The Jo ybee 180 has a rec ording function t o enable y ou to recor d your v oice using the built-in micro phone as follows. • Recor ding function will be disabled when the batter y is low . 1. Press the key to star t recording and speak into the microp hone.
30 Pl ay i ng b ac k re co rde d voi ce/ F M f i le s The V OICE mode enables y ou to pla y back y our reco rded voic e files or FM radio pr ograms. All voice r ecorded signals ar e saved as W A V files with a file name such as MIC001.wav while FM programs are saved with filenames such as FM001.
31 Syst em setup The system setup menu pr ovides additional functions to enable y ou to customiz e the Jo ybee 180. Press the MODE but- ton r epeatedly to ent er the SETUP mode as described in the following sections. Y ou can exit fro m the menu at any time without making changes by pressing the MODE button.

33 Setting the recor ding quality T o set the qual ity of sound while r ecor ding fr om the built- in microp hone or the FM radio , do the following: 1. T urn on the Joybee 180. 2. P ress the M ODE button rep eatedly to switch to SETUP mode. A menu is displaye d on the OLED screen.

35 Setting the language T o set the la nguage, do the following: 1. T urn on the Joybee 180. 2. Press the MODE button repeatedly to sw itch to S ETUP mo de. A menu is displayed on the OLED screen. 3. Use the or key s to select the Language option. 4. P res s to confirm your select ion.
36 Viewing system information T o view infor mation about the system such as de tails about memory usage, number of music and v oice files, and the ver- sion number of the firm ware, do the following: 1. T urn on the Joybee 180. 2. Press the MODE button repeat edly to sw itch to S ETUP mode .
37 U s ing QM usic QM usic is a software pr ovided to help you t o organize y our music collection . Y ou can use it to pl ay audio CDs or MP3s on your PC, c onv ert audio CD tr acks into MP3 format, create playlists, transfer music to your J oybee 180, burn music CDs and create your own music album.

42 A dding music to the Jo ybee 180 using QM usic Connect the Jo ybee 180 to the PC using the procedure described in "Connecting the Jo ybee 180 to a PC" on page 16. The icon J oybee 180 appears in the left panel of the QM usic interface, and the dir ectories on the Jo ybee 180 are display ed under the icon.
43 Adding music fr om an audio CD to Joybee 180 1. P ut an audio CD in the CD-ROM on your PC. The icon appear s in the left panel o f QM usic, and the files on the CD appear in the r ight panel. 2. Select the files to be added to the Jo ybee 180 by clicking the checkbox es in front of the files.
44 3. Click the ic on, and QM usic starts con verting the selected files into MP3 files. 4. After the con version is completed, a New A l bu m is added to the left panel. All the conv erted files are placed in this album . Click the New Album to displ ay the details of files in the rig ht panel.
45 5. Click to select the file to be added to the Joybee 180. T o select more than one file, press and hold the Ctrl ke y on the keyboard while selecting the files. T o select all files, click the first file, press and hold the Shift key on t he keyboard, and then click the last file.

Drag to copy the selected files from the right pan el to the MP3 direct ory under the Joybee 180 icon. • When files ar e being transfer red to the Joybee 180, do not discon- nect the Joybee 180 from the PC. Use the procedure described in "Disconnecting the Jo ybee 180 from a PC" on page 17 to disconnect the player .
47 Adding files from a PC to J oybee 180 1. Click the My J oy b e e folder in the left panel. 2. Press and a dialog box opens to help y ou to select the desired files. Bro wse and select MP3, W A V or WMA files to be added to the Joybee 180 fr om the PC.

Click the butt on to sav e your settings. 6. Connec t the Joybee 180 to the PC and QM usic auto- matically updates the fil es on Jo ybee 180 with the files in My Jo y b e e folder .
54 Deleting files using QM usic U se the following procedur e to delete files on your J oybee 180 using QM usic. 1. Star t QMusic. 2. T urn on the Jo ybee 180 and connect it to the PC using the USB cable. 3. Locate the fi les to be d eleted by clicking on the Mi cIn or MP3 subdirectory under the J oybee 180 icon in the left panel of QM usic.
55 4. The files in the selected directory are displa yed in the rig ht p anel. C lick to s elec t the fi le to b e delete d. T o select more than one file, press and hold the Ctrl ke y on the keyboard while selecting the files. T o select all files, click the first file, press and hold the Shift key on t he keyboard, and then click the last file.
56 T r oubleshooting U nable to transfer files to Jo ybee 180. Check the following: • The USB cable has been securely connected to the PC and Jo ybee 180, and the Jo ybee 180 is turned on. • The US B driver has been installed on your PC. Data stored in J oybee 180 is lost.
