12 T O OPERA TE ON HILLS W ARNING: Do not drive up or do wn hills with slopes great er than 15° and do not drive across an y slope. • Choose the slowest speed bef ore star ting up or down hills. • Av oid stopping or changing speed on hills . • If slowing is necessary , mov e throttle control le v er to slower position.
13 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig. 5) When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cr anking time to mov e fuel from the tank to the engine. • Sit on seat in operating position, depress clutch/brak e pedal and set parking brake .

16 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts for deterioration and wear after 100 hours and replace if necessar y . The belts are not adjustable. Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear . TRANSAXLE COOLING K eep transaxle free from b uild-up of dir t and chaff which can restrict cooling.
17 MAINTENANCE CLEANING • Clean engine, batter y , seat, fi nish, etc. of all f oreign matter . • Keep fi nished surfaces and wheels free of all gasoline, oil, etc.
