10 10 Index Contents Index Contents ABOUT THE ACTIVE AREA The activ e area is the area of the tablet that senses pen mov ement. The screen area is the corresponding area on the screen. The tablet activ e area is a mapped representation of your computer screen (a one-to-one relationship), and uses the entire screen.
11 11 Index Contents Index Contents P OINTING The Bamboo Fun pen positions the pointer (or cursor) on your screen. Y ou can position the screen cursor two diff erent wa ys, lik e a pen (P EN M ODE ) or like a mouse (M OUSE M ODE ).
12 12 Index Contents Index Contents CLIC KING Click to highlight or select something on the screen. Double-click to open it. Clicking. T ap the pen tip once on the tablet, or press the pen tip on the tab let with enough f orce to register a click.
13 13 Index Contents Index Contents USING THE PEN B UTTONS The Bamboo Fun pen has two b uttons. Each button has a progr ammable function that is selected when y ou press the button. Y ou can use a pen b utton whenev er the pen tip is within 5 mm (0.20 inch) of the tablet activ e area.
14 14 Index Contents Index Contents DRAWING WITH PRESSURE SENSITIVITY The Bamboo Fun pen responds to your hand mo vements , enabling y ou to create natural-looking pen and brush strokes. Many graphics applications ha ve dr awing tools that respond to the pressure y ou place on the pen.
15 15 Index Contents Index Contents EYE-HAND COOR DINATION EX ERCISE This e xercise is designed to retr ain your ey e-hand coordination f or using the pen: 1. Open any g raphics application. Use the line tool to sketch a rectangular grid with line spacings of about 20-25 mm (3/4 to 1 inch).
16 16 Index Contents Index Contents USING THE COR DLESS MOUSE The Bamboo Fun cordless mouse is batter y-free and works on your Bamboo Fun pen tab let. Note that some product configurations ma y not include the cordless mouse. Important: When the cordless mouse is not in use, place it on your desk.
17 17 Index Contents Index Contents W ORKING WITH THE TABLET The middle area of the tablet is the w or king, or activ e, area f or the pen and cordless mouse. Rest your hand on the tablet and then w or k with the pen on the activ e area of the tablet just as if y ou were using a ball point pen on a piece of paper .
18 18 Index Contents Index Contents USING THE EXPRESSKE YS Press the ExpressK eys to perf orm frequently used functions. Y ou can do this with y our secondar y hand while using your primar y hand to work with y our Bamboo Fun pen on the tablet. The ExpressK ey def ault settings will v ar y depending on which operating system you are using.
19 19 Index Contents Index Contents USING THE T OUCH RING The T ouch Ring lets you scroll and z oom in your current document. • Zooming: Slide your finger clockwise to z oom in, and counterclockwise to z oom out. • Continuous scr olling: Press and hold your finger on the up arro w to continuously scroll up .

26 26 Index Contents Index Contents I NK T OGGLE . (Macintosh.) T oggles the I NK A NYWHERE function of Inkwell on and off . Inkwell automatically recognizes and con verts your handwriting into te xt and inser ts it into a document. Note that Ink must be turned on for this function to work.

If the pen tablet driv er failed to load properly , first perf or m the recommended action in any error message that ma y appear on your screen.

40 40 Index Contents Index Contents Double-clic king is difficult. Be sure you are quic kly tapping the tablet twice in the same place on the tablet activ e area. Using a pen button to doub le-click is recommended (re view the techniques in clic king).
41 41 Index Contents Index Contents The screen cursor jumps bac k. Do not place the pen or cordless mouse on the tablet when the y are not in use, or when y ou are using another pointing device . Leaving your tool on the tablet ma y interfere with screen cursor positioning when using other input de vices.
