6 RECHARGEABLE B A TTER Y P A CKS Charging the Handset batteries The Handset of your VT ech 2910c cord- less telephone is powered by a re- chargeable battery pack. It charges automatically whenever the Handset is in the Base Unit cradle. Y ou should charge the battery pack for 16 hours when you first receiv e y our phone .
7 Replacing The Handset Battery Pack 1. Remove the battery cover by press- ing on the ridged lines and sliding downward. 2. Discard the old battery pack. Don’t put the old battery pack in a trash compactor or a fire - it could burst. IMPORT ANT: Do not dispose of this battery in household garbage.

9 The W all Mount adaptor is designed to fit on standard Wall Mount plates. 1. Choose a spot near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. Y our phone requires a modular telephone jack and a standard electrical outlet (120v A C). The power cord is six feet long; make sure there is an elec- trical outlet within reach of the base.

11 LINE 1 KEY Press this key to select LINE 1. If the Handset has already accessed LINE 1, pressing this key will FLASH the line. If LINE 1 is on HOLD, pressing this key will take LINE 1 off HOLD and return you to your call. If LINE 2 is IN USE, or you are in CONFERENCE mode, pressing this key access LINE 1 and put LINE 2 on HOLD.

19 RINGER ON/OFF SWITCHES Located on the right edge of the Base Unit (antenna side), these switches control the Base Unit ringer for each line. These switches ha v e no eff ect on the Handset ringers. TONE/PULSE SWITCH Located on the underside of the Base Unit, set this switch to the dialing mode compatible with your local telephone ser vice.
20 Setting up y our VT ech VT 2910c 1. Choose an area near an electrical outlet and telephone wall jack(s). 2. Plug the A C power adaptor into the electrical outlet and the DC connector to the back of the Base Unit. CA UTION: Use only the A C adaptor shipped with your VT 2910c.
21 MAKING CALLS Extend the Antenna whenever y ou remove the Handset from the Base Unit cradle There are two ways to make a call: • Press LINE 1/FLASH or LINE 2/ FLASH and listen f or dial tone. The LCD will display HANDSET ON 1 (or 2 ) . Dial the phone number .
22 ANSWERING CALLS FROM THE BASE UNIT (SPEAKERPHONE) In addition to the audible ringer , the LINE LED flashes in cadence with the incoming ring signal to indicate an incoming call. With the Base Unit OFF: When the phone rings, press the appropriate LINE key .
23 NOTE: If you use the Speakerphone in an environment that is not very quiet, your caller’ s voice ma y f ade in and out. Should this occur , press the MUTE ke y before your party begins to speak, then press MUTE again (to tur n MUTE off) when it’ s y our turn to speak.
24 Base Unit Paging Handset When the INT .COM ke y is pressed on the Base Unit, the Handset will ring diff erently than its incoming call ring. The LCD will display BASE P AGING HANDSET , as well. The Handset user can then do the following: • Press INTERCOM.
25 For example: If the Handset is in CON- FERENCE mode, and someone at the Base Unit wants to join the conversa- tion, press either LINE key on the Base Unit. The Base Unit has no w entered CONFERENCE mode. When both the Handset and the Base Unit are in CONFERENCE mode, pressing OFF on either unit does not hang up the lines.
26 Programming the Base Unit Ringer 1. Press and hold the MEM/PROG key until the LCD displays PROGRAM LOCA TION _ _. 2. Press #. LCD displays ?: 1=HANDSET 2=BASE. 3. Press 2 . LCD displays ?: 1=LINE 1 2=LINE 2. 4. Press 1 (or 2 , depending on which line you’re programming).
27 DELETING ST ORED NUMBERS Y ou can delete individual phone numbers stored in memory , or all stored numbers at one time. T o Delete a single phone number stored in Memory: With the Handset OFF , pre.
28 Y our VT 2910c cordless telephone is capable of displaying the name and phone number of the calling par ty , before you answer the call. In addition, it will display Caller ID information when you are on the phone and receive a Call W aiting signal.
29 3. Press INT .COM/DEL to confirm de- letion of all CID records. The LCD will display DELETING ALL CALLS . Pressing any key other than INT .COM/DEL cancel this operation. DIALING FROM CID MEMOR Y NOTE: Only the last 7 digits of the phone number will be dialed from CID memor y .
30 ST ORING CID RECORDS IN MEMOR Y DIALING LOCA TIONS Y ou can store a phone number from a CID record in a Memory Dialing location. 1, With the Handset OFF , press the CID key . 2. Use the * ( ) or # ( ) keys to scroll to the CID record you wish to store in memory .

32 Y OU GET NOISE, ST A TIC, OR A WEAK SIGNAL EVEN WHEN Y OU’RE NEAR THE B ASE UNIT . • Place the Handset in the Base mo- mentarily to re-set the security code. Then press PHONE to get a line. Household appliances plugged into the same circuit as the Base Unit can sometimes cause interference .
