EN 11 Switching on the Sur fT ab Pr ess the on/off switch for approximat ely two to three seconds to switch on the Sur fT ab. A configuration assistant will appear .
EN 12 8) Home screen and desktop view Depending on needs and preferences , you can decide whether to use the home screen with live tiles (this screen is optimised f or mobile devices) or the classical desktop view . The first time you switch on your SurfT ab, the home screen with live tiles appears.
EN 13 Desktop view 9) Charm Bar The Charm Bar is a bar with quick links to some of the important func tions of the Sur fT ab. Y ou can show or hide the Charm Bar on the home screen or the desktop view . T o open the Charm Bar, swipe your finger fr om the right edge of the screen towar ds the centre of the screen.
EN 14 10) Using and setting up the home screen T o go to the home screen, tap the Windows button (A). Selecting an element Using your fingertip, briefly tap the desired live tile or an input area in or der to open it.
EN 15 Arranging and sorting the live tiles The live tiles displayed on the home scr een can be arranged to suit your prefer ence. T o access the edit mode for a particular live tile, place your finger on the live tile and hold the tile until a small tick appears in its top-right corner.
EN 16 Calling up the Applications menu The Applications menu is located "beneath" the home screen. T o call up the Applications menu, place your fingertip on a free area of the home screen and "drag" the home screen up .
EN 17 WP A Enter the network key in the input field and tap " n ext " to confirm. The network key can generally be found on the back of your router . WPS If a WPS authentication method (f or example, a PIN) was set up for your r outer , the Sur fT ab shows a different input field.
EN 18 r W ARNING Y ou will be asked whether the Sur fT ab should search for additional devices in the selected network and whether it should automatically connect to these devices (for example , printers or television sets). This is recommended in priv ate home networks that you can trust.
EN 19 13) Downloading applications from the Windows Store The Windows Store is a vailable as a live tile on the first or second page of the home screen. Y ou can identify the W indows Store by its icon, a shopping bag featuring the Windows logo . The following two requir ements must be met in order to access the Windows Stor e: 1.
EN 20 h) Select the device you would like to connect from the list of devices available by tapping the name of the device. Now tap " p air ".
EN 21 g) T ap and hold the desired files until a drop-down window appears. T ap " C opy " in the drop- down window . h) Now tap " t his pC " again on the left in the file browser . i) Open the desired destination folder by tapping twice.
EN 22 Pr oceed as follows to connect your SurfT ab to a Miracast-enabled television: a) First, take all of the necessary steps to prepare your Miracast-enabled television for the Miracast transfer (consult your t elevision’ s operating instructions for details).
EN 23 T aking a photo T ap the photo camera symbol on the right side of the screen to take a photo. Recording a video T ap the video camera symbol on the right side of the screen to star t video recording . T o stop video recording, tap the "Stop " symbol (appears instead of the video camera symbol during recording).
EN 24 If you wish to subsequently activate or deactivate the automatic update function, proceed as follows: a) T ap the Windows button t o switch to the home screen. b) Open the Char m Bar by swiping your finger inwar ds from the right-hand edge of the screen.
EN 25 h) In this window, select (highlight) " o n a harD Disk " , and in the drop- down window directly beneath, select the connected external hard drive as the target drive for saving the syst em image. i) Confirm by tapping " n ext " in the bottom-right area of the window .
