26 Preparations Preparation of the remote contr ol Insert the specifi ed battery in the remote control. See page 8 , 9 for safe use of coin-shaped batteries. 1 Gently insert a fi ngernail in groo ve 1 and pull out the holder in direction 2 . Take care not to break your fi ngernail.

34 Preparations You can enjoy various contents of discs, the digital TV and other external equipment by changing the mode. Change it depending on your needs. Press MODE repeatedly to select the mode. Each time you press MODE, the mode changes on the screen as below.

38 TV viewing Preparation f or TV vie wing Initial setup When you fi rst use the DTV, the unit shows the language menu for initial setting. Follow through this process to search channels available in your area. 1 T urn the power on. The language menu will appear in a few seconds.
39 TV viewing Channel scanning ■ Automatic channel scan If any menu screen doesn’t show up at the fi rst use of this unit (see “Initial setup”), you can search channels by automatic channel scan. Also, you can add new channels to the channel list.

48 Playbac k Loading a disc For disc compatibility information, see page 20 . Load a disc in the disc slot. Insert a disc into the disc slot with the label side facing forward. (If the disc has a label.) Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces, align it with the guides, and place it in position.
49 Playbac k Connecting to headphones You can connect headphones to the headphone jack using a stereo mini plug. • Before connecting, temporarily turn down the volume with the volume button. Readjust to your preference when playback starts. • Turn off the player before you connect or disconnect the headphone cable.
50 Playbac k Pla ying a disc ■ Preparations • Turn on the power of the player. • Select “ DVD/CD ” by pressing MODE . Caution Never operate the player in a moving vehicle. Vibration may prevent proper playback of the player or cause damage to the disc.
