If you want to save recordings without any alteration, use a non-rewritable DVD-R / +R type disc.
36 EN Note • This unit ca nnot record on CD-RW or CD-R discs. • DVD-RW / R discs, DVD+RW / R discs and CD-RW / R discs recorded on a personal computer or a DVD or CD recorder may not b e played back if the disc is damaged or dirty or if there is condensation on the unit’s lens.

38 EN Formatting a Disc Auto Format Whenever you load a brand new DVD -RW and DVD+RW disc, the unit will a sk you to format the disc. 1 Select the re co rding format you prefer using [Cursor L / P ]. The n press [ENTER] to format the disc. • Brand new D VD-R disc is formatted in Video mode and brand new DVD+R is formatted in +VR mode.

This function will be possible only if the DVD disc or the videotape is not copy protected. Before starting this function, prepare for the recording on the DVD-RW / R disc, DVD+RW / R disc or the videotape.

56 EN Setting for External Connection (A V3) Connect the external equipment using either the input jacks, A V1(TV) (Rear), A V2(D ECODER) (Rear) or A V3 (Front). However , for A V3 jacks, you have to select S-VIDEO input or VIDEO input jacks depending on the connected devices.

78 EN What Are Original and Playlist? There are 2 types for the title list: Original and Playlist. Original: Original is the list of the record ed programmes (title s) when they are recorded. Original is available for HDD, DVD-RW and DVD-R. Please note that editing the titles in the Original is like editing the original data.

Note • Y ou cannot delete chapter marks from a title being recorded currently . • Edit marks cann ot be deleted (see “About Edit Mark:” on page 78).

82 EN 4 Continue to select a desired t itle again using [Cursor U / D ], then press [ENTER]. The second “ ” will be marked. If you want to clear the check mark of a title, select the title, then press [ENTER] . “ ” mark will disappear . 5 When all the titles are selected , press [CLEAR] .
