12 Setting up your TV Setting up y our T V After you ’ ve installed the batteries and programmed the remote control, you need to set some pr eferences on the TV using the menu. Y ou can access the menu with the buttons on your TV or by using the remote control.

14 Setting up your TV Adding and erasing channels manually After you ’ ve programmed the channels, you can add or erase specific channels. T o add or erase channels: 1. Select the channel you want to add or erase using Channel y or z . If adding channels, you must select the channel to add by using the Channel N umber buttons.

A caption is a printed version of the dialogue, narration and/or sound effects of a TV program.
28 Using the TV ’ s Featur es Adjusting the sound Muting the sound P ress MUTE to temporarily turn off the sound. While the sound is off, the scr een will display the word MUTE in the lower right-hand corner . T o restore the sound, pr ess MUTE again.

30 Using the TV ’ s Featur es T o turn off the surround sound feature: Choose OFF in step 4 abov e. In general, you should leave your TV set to SURR OUND so it can automatically produce surround ster eo or monaural sound, depending on the broadcast type.

32 Appendix P oor color or no color • The station may have broadcast difficulties. T r y another channel. • Adjust the TINT and/or COLOR in the PICTURE menu. • If you change the direction of the TV while it is turned on, the picture could suffer from color shading.
