6 Removing the Pedestal Stand 1) Carefully lay the front of the TV face down on a flat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand protruding over the edge of the surface. Note: Extreme car e should always be used when removing the pedestal stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
7 Notes on discs On handling discs • Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Handle the disc as shown in the figure below . Playback side • Do not attach paper or tape to discs. On cleaning discs • Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration.

18 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV REGZA-LINK ® connection Y ou can control the basic functions of connected audio/video de vices using the TV’ s remote control if you connect a REGZA-LINK ® compatible audio recei ver or playback de vice. For an explanation of setup and operations, see pages 50-51.
19 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Connecting a digital audio system The TV’ s DIGITAL AUDIO OUT terminal outputs a Dolby ® * Digital or 2-channel do wn-mixed PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) signal for use with an external Dolby ® Digital decoder or other e xternal audio system with optical audio input.

21 Preparing the remote control for use The remote control can operate your LCD TV / D VD combination and control the basic functions of connected audio/video de vices if you connect a REGZA-LINK ® compatible audio recei ver or playback de vice ( page 50).

Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 39 Digital CC Settings Y ou can customize the closed caption display characteristics by changing the background color , opacity , text size, type, edge, and color . Note: • This featur e is available for digital channels only .
Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 40 Selecting stereo / SAP broadcasts The multi-channel TV sound (MTS) feature allo ws you to output high-fidelity stereo sound. MTS also can transmit a second audio program (SAP) containing a second language, music or other audio information (when provided by indi vidual stations).
Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 41 Using the Dolby ® Digital Dynamic Range Control feature This dynamic range control feature causes Dolby Digital dynamic range to be further compressed, allo wing you to switch from digital to analog broadcasts at the same dynamic range.

Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 45 Using the panel lock feature Y ou can lock the control panel to pre vent your settings from being changed accidentally (by children, for example). When the Panel Lock is On , none of the controls on the TV control panel will operate except POWER .

53 Using the advanced picture settings features Using Dynamic Contrast Dynamic Contrast detects changes in picture quality that af fect the appearance of your contrast settings and then automatically adjusts the video. T o select Dynamic Contrast prefer ence: 1 From the the Picture menu, highlight Picture Settings and press .
Chapter 7: Using the TV’ s advanced features 54 Using CableClear ® digital Noise Reduction The CableClear ® digital Noise Reduction feature allo ws you to reduce visible interference in your TV picture. This may be useful when recei ving a broadcast with a weak signal (especially a Cable channel) or playing a noisy video cassette or disc.
55 Disc playback This section sho ws you the basics on ho w to play a disc. Basic playback (DVD/VCD/CD)* 1 Press POWER on the TV control panel or on the remote control. The Po wer LED on the front of the LCD TV / D VD combination changes to green. It may take approximately 10 seconds for a picture to appear on-screen.
Chapter 8: Basic disc playback 56 • In some instances the LCD TV / D VD combination may take a minute or so to start disc playback. • When you load a disc with the playback side facing backward, “Reading” appears on-screen b ut it will be replaced by “Incorrect Disc”.
57 Zoom function/Scene navigation Y ou can change the vie wing scale of a picture by using the Zoom function. Once the image has been rescaled, use the arro w buttons STW X to pan the image. Scene navigation options dif fer depending on the kind of disc.
Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback 58 Scene bookmark Scene bookmarks refer to specific points in the playback range that hav e been marked for later access. Y ou can create up to three markers per disc. Note: The saved scene bookmarks are only accessible during the current session.

Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback 62 MP3, WMA, JPEG, and Audio CD operation This LCD TV / DVD combination can play MP3, WMA, and JPEG files recor ded on a CD-R or CD-RW disc. T o create the MP3/ WMA/ JPEG disc, you need a Windows PC with a CD-R W drive and file encoding software.
