4 How your MUSIC Pro In-the-Ear hearing instruments look like Each hearing instr ument can be identified by the serial number , which is located on the outside of the instr ument: If the number is written in red, the hearing instrument is for the right ear , and if the number is written in blue, this hearing instrument is for the left ear .
5 How to insert your In-the-Ear instruments Hold your hearing instrument between thumb and inde x finger and carefully push the instrument in the ear canal. No w bring it into the correct position by t urning it slightly . Y ou may find it helpful to pull y our external ear slightly upwards or to the rear .
6 How to remove the instruments from your ear The re are 2 ways to s witch y our instrument ON/OFF . First wa y . The bat tery compar tment serv es as an ON / OFF switc h. If you w ant to switc h the instr ument on, insert the bat tery and simply close the bat tery compartment - the instrument is now r eady f or use.
7 Battery changing When inserting the battery please pa y at tention to the plus side on the bat tery . The plus (+) side of the bat tery is al ways the smooth side. Y ou can recognise the minus (–) side b y the coloured ring. Y ou should al ways k eep spare batteries at hand.
8 Safet y not es for batt eries W ARNING Keep bat teries aw ay from childr en! Batt eries must not be swallo wed. Remo ve the bat teries when the instrument is not in use ov er a prolonged period.
9 Zinc-air bat teries are used today almost e xclusiv ely in hearing instruments to minimise envir onmental damage. T hese bat teries requir e oxy gen f or operation, which the y absorb from the air . The bat tery is activated as soon as the protectiv e f oil is pulled of f and is used up even if you do not use y our hearing instrument.
10 Hearing instruments with a program button If you ha ve c hosen MUSIC Pro hearing instruments with a selection of programs, then you can adapt your hearing instruments to a changed hearing sit uation by lightly pressing the progr am but ton.
11 Hearing instruments with telecoil The telecoil is intended f or telephone con ver sations and f or using induction loops, e.g. in chur ches, theaters or lect ure rooms. In order to be able to use the telephone coil, your telephone also must be suitable f or hearing instr uments and emit an adequate magnetic field.
12 Hearing instruments with volume control MUSIC Pr o hearing instruments w ork automatically , so that manual adjustments of the volume ar e not necessary . If you w ould still like to adjust the v olume yourself , most MUSIC Pr o models of f er a volume contr ol on request.
13 1. 2. Tips for cleaning and care Ear wax accumulates on y our hearing instruments. This can lead to inflammation in your auditory canal if the instruments are not cleaned regularly . Theref ore: Clean your In-the-Ear instr uments at least twice a week (possibly ev en daily , if you see a lot of ear wax).
14 3. Bring your hearing instruments regularly to y our hearing instrument specialist on the sc hedule that he or she recommends f or c hanging the wax guar d, cleaning the venting c hannel, the microphone and sound outlets, and the instrument in gener al.
15 The best way to handle your hearing instruments Y our new Siemens hearing instr uments are highly sensitive de vices. This nat urally requires some care in their handling .
16 Some useful tips: Never expose your hearing instruments to extreme temperatures or high humidity . Never let them lie in the blazing sun. Do not wear them when taking a shower or when using hairspray .

H owever , should a fault occur , it can usually be cor rected quic kly . Important tips: If the hearing instrument whistles T est the instrument yourself by co vering the sound outlet opening with your fingertip.
18 If the hearing instrument is too quiet or you hear two signal tones within one minute. Most likely , you need to insert a new battery . If it is still too quiet, clean the instrument, following the directions given in the chapter ”T ips for cleaning and care”.

T elephoning with your hearing instrument Ther e are two dif f erent methods f or telephoning while wearing your hearing instrument: 1 . Using the normal hearing program: The sound from the telephone receiv er is absorbed directly b y the microphone of your hearing instrument.
22 Note: Most of the modern telephones, particularly cordless telephones and mobile phones, do NO T emit a magnetic field. In this case y ou should use the normal hearing programs.
