15 C V501 - 16CH CONNECTING YOUR ALARM SYSTEM T O THE DVR The CV501 - 16CH supports a 2 wire (normally open or normally closed) connection for up to sixteen external alarm devices simultaneously using the included alarm adapter . For more informa tion on setting up the DVR to w ork with these alarms please see “buttons and connections.
16 C V501 - 16CH CONNECTING AND POWERING ON THE DVR Note: W e recommend using a surge protected pow er bar and/or Uninterrupted P ow er Supply (UPS) backup to prevent damage t o your DVR system. 1. Inser t the pow er cord in to the power supply . 2. Plug the power c ord int o a power outlet .
17 C V501 - 16CH GET TING ST ARTED Now that y ou have pow ered up the DVR and pr operly connected to a T V or monitor y ou are r eady to begin using and customizing the DVR f or your specic needs. The DVR will aut omatically begin rec ording once it has been po wered on and initializ ed.

25 C V501 - 16CH RECORD QU ALIT Y Ther e are four lev els of rec ord quality you can choose fr om, and it is adjustable per camera if recor ding with 720 x 240 resolution. If using 360 x 240 resolution, cameras ar e adjusted in pairs (1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 etc .
26 C V501 - 16CH A UDIO RECORD The D VR is capable of recor ding one channel of audio . Y ou can connec t a camera that has a built in micr ophone or connect an external microphone into the RCA audio input to c ongure the DVR t o recor d with audio .
27 C V501 - 16CH T o set the schedules: 1. Highlight SCHEDULE SETUP and select to enter the schedule recor d Menu. 2. Selec t the type of recor ding you wish t o use (Full , Alarm, No) from the bottom of the Menu scr een or use the fast for war d button to toggle between the type of recor ding .
28 C V501 - 16CH External Alarm Mode Y ou c an adjust your e xternal alarm for Normally Open (NO), or Normally Closed (NC). Please consult the external alarm manufacturer for details regar ding whether to set up the External Alarm Mode to Normally Open or Normally Closed .
29 C V501 - 16CH The ev ent log setup allows y ou to choose which alarm triggers will be sav ed to your ev ent log (maximum 3000 events). Setting up the event log allows you t o star t playing r ecorded f ootage by specic even ts so that you do not ha ve to fast f or ward thr ough long periods of footage to see when the alarm is detected.
30 C V501 - 16CH T o S etup the Rela y Time Setup: 1. Selec t RELA Y TIME SETUP from the Alarm Setup Menu. 2. Selec t to access the Relay Time Setup Menu. 3. Highlight the type of alarm you wan t to set up . 4. Use the mouse wheel or dir ectional keys to change the length of time.
31 C V501 - 16CH HDD INFORMA TION This option will allow y ou to view the total capacity of the connec ted har d drive as w ell as the percentage of r emaining space. This Menu is only used to display y our HDD status , and no settings can be adjusted on this screen.
32 C V501 - 16CH NET WORK SETUP 1. Acc ess the Main Menu by pressing Menu or b y using the Pop Up Menu Bar . Move the mouse to the bott om of the display screen t o reveal the P op Up Menu. 2. Selec t the Menu icon. 3. Selec t the NETWORK setup icon. The network setup Menu is y our gatew ay to viewing y our footage online.

40 C V501 - 16CH Syst em T ype The two syst em types that are av ailable on this DVR ar e P AL and NTSC. The North American standard is NTSC and should only be set t o P AL if the TV or monitor that the D VR is connected to uses only P AL format. T o set the system type: 1.

61 C V501 - 16CH Schedule Update: Denes how often the DVR will updat e the DDNS website with it’ s current IP addr ess Information. This should not be set to less then 60 minutes as some DDNS pr oviders may t emporarily block the DVR. State: Displays the current sta te of the DVR.
