Knowing this por t is necessary for the DVR to be viewed pr operly over the Int ernet. Media P ort: This port is used to initiate communica tion to the DVR.
CV502-4CH 24 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see DNS: Stands for “Domain Name System ” and is for advanced network setup . DNS is used to conv er t common names into website IP A ddresses . It is best to leav e these settings as is as it us usually the same as the rout er .

CV502-4CH 27 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see T o Backup footage onto U SB device: 1. Mak e sure a USB device or USB burner is plugged in to the proper USB connection on the back of the DVR. 2. Ac cess the le list from the particular day you w ould like footage backed up .
CV502-4CH 28 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see HDD This menu option giv es you information about y our HDD (hard disk drive), allows y ou to enable ov er write mode, and format the har d drive and/or USB drive . The information that this option gives you includes: • HDD Status: Displays the current oper ating status of the har d drive.
CV502-4CH 29 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see HDD F ormat Forma tting the HDD erases all rec orded video and audio on your har d disk drive. Forma tting will not erase any of your custom settings on y our DVR. T o Format the HDD: 1. Highlight the “Format HDD” button and pr ess “select” .

T his DVR gives y ou the option to have email alerts sent when motion is detected.

CV502-4CH 32 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see PTZ Setup PTZ setup allows you t o input information for a PTZ camera. (PTZ cameras not included) The information must be enter ed in the DVR so that the D VR works with your PTZ camer a and all its functions.
CV502-4CH 33 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see Motion Detection This menu option allows y ou to adjust the motion detection settings for each individual camera. T he settings you can adjust include turning motion on or o , adjusting the sensitivit y and selecting the motion detec tion area.

This setting allows y ou to adjust particular areas of each camera where motion will and will not be detected. This is good if you had a camera poin ted tow ards something that is alw ays moving , such as a busy road .

CV502-4CH 37 SV A T ELECTRONICS now you can see DST DST stands for daylight sa ving time; you can adjust the DVR t o change automatically when dayligh t saving time approaches , this is so you don ’t have to go back and do it y ourself. Y ou can also customize when the DVR changes for DST .

When you enable passw ord protection, you will be prompt ed to insert a password each time you wish to ac cess the main menu.

Upon playing back the rec orded footage , options on the bottom of the screen appear for y ou to manipulate the video .

Viewing y our footage from y our computer allows y ou more options for manipulating the video as well as for backing up f ootage directly to your c omputer .
