2-1 CHAPTER 2 Powering On and Configuring BIOS Settings This chapter contains instructions on powering on and confi guring the server BIOS. Changing the BIOS parameters is only necessary if you want to change the defaults.

When the computer is power ed on, it is configured with the values stor ed in the BIOS ROM by the system BIOS, which gains contr ol at boot time.

Power off the server , including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the server from the electrical outlet. Refer to “Powering Off the Server and Removing the Cover ” on page 3-2.
