IMPORTANT CALLER ID INFORMATION To use the phone's Caller ID an d Call Wait- ing with Caller ID features, you must be in an area where those services are available and you must subscribe to those services through your local phon e company.

8 Installation ˆ Installation MOUNTING THE PHONE You can place th e phone on a d esk or table, or mount it on a standard wall plate or direct- ly on a wall.
9 Installation On a W all Plate or W all 1. Insert the bracket’s tabs into the base’s lower tab slots, then press down on the bracket’s clips and insert them into the clip slots. 2. Plug one end of the suppl ied sh ort mod- ular cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the base.
10 Installation 1. Press down and slide off the battery pack compartment cover . 2. Lift the battery pack out of the compart- ment. 3 . Plug the bat- tery pack's con- nector into the socket in the compartment, (the connector fits only one way), replace the battery pack, and replace the cover .
11 Installation Important: The EPA certified RBRC ® Battery Recycling Seal on the nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery indica tes RadioShack is voluntarily participating in an industry program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end of their useful life, when taken out of service in the United States or Canada.
12 Installation SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set PULSE-TONE on th e back of the base for the type of service you have. If you are not sure which type you have, do this test after you charge the handse t's battery pack. 1. Set PULSE-T ONE to TO NE . 2.
13 Telephone Operation 2. Press 2 or VOL/CID 9 9 9 9 to select CIDCW (Caller ID/Call Waiting). 3. Press SELECT/CHANNEL to change the Caller ID/Call Waiting setting.
14 Telephone Operation SELECTING THE CHANNEL The phone has 30 channels. If the cal l seems to disconnect for no reason during a call, press SELECT/CHANNEL on the handset to select a diffe r en t ch an n el . Scanning ap- pears while your phone searches fo r a clear channel.
15 Telephone Operation • On the handset, press RDL/P AUSE after pressing TA L K to d ial the last number dialed. • The redial memory holds up to 32 digi ts, so you can redial long-distance as wel l as local numbers. • The redial memory also holds pause entries.
16 Telephone Operation When the person at the base answers, press TA L K . Th e call is released from hold and transferred to the base. To transfer a call from the b ase to the hand- set, press INTCM/P AGE . The call is put on hold, and Paging and Hold appear.
17 Telephone Operation To replace a stored number, store a new one in its place. Editing or Deleting a Number in the Handset’ s Memory Follow these steps to edit or del ete a memo- ry number. 1. Lift the handset. 2. Hold down MEM until Memory Store and a list of memory location numbers appear .
18 Telephone Operation Reviewing the Handset's Memory Numbers To review your handset's memory numbers, press MEM . The list of memory location num- bers ( 01 – 20 ) appears with the n ame stored with each number (or <Memory nn> if you did not store a name).
19 Caller ID Operation • Y ou can use a handset hold er (available from your local RadioShack store) to hang the handset on your belt for greater convenience. With a headset connected , you can make or answer calls as us ual using the spea ker- phone or keys on the handset.
20 Caller ID Operation ADDING/DELETING THE AREA CODE When the area code of the received call is the same as the one you stored (see “Storing Your Area Code” on Page 13), the caller ID record does not show the area code. If it is different, the record shows the area code.
21 Caller ID Operation 3. Press SELECT/CHANNEL or INTCM/DEL . The phone beeps once. Follow these steps to delete all Calle r ID records. 1. Press CID so the record totals appear . 2. Press INTCM/DEL . Delete All? and Yes/No appear with the cursor pointing to No .
22 Troubleshooting 4. Press TA L K . The selected service num- ber appears and is dialed. Note: You can disp lay the programmed ser- vice number of each calling feature. At Step 2 above, press 7 7 7 7 to view the number and 6 6 6 6 to return to th e name display.
23 Troubleshooting If you still have problems, discon nect the phone. If other phones on the same line work proper- ly, the fault is in th is phone or its in stallation. If you cannot fi nd the problem, take the p hone to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
