2-1 2 Preparing for Installation Safety Precautions Before you install or remove any components from the Switch or carry o ut any maintenance procedures, you must read the 3Com Switch F amily Safety and Regulatory In formation document enclo sed with your switch.
2-2 Temperature/Humidity Y ou must maintain a proper temperature and humi dit y in the equipment room. Long-term high humidity may lead to bad insulation, electricity leakage, me chanical property chan ges, and metal corro sion.
2-3 z Keep the device far from radio transmitting station s, radar stations, and hi gh-frequen cy devices. z Use electromagnetic shielding wh en necessary, for example, use shielded interface cables. z Route interface cables o nly indoors to prevent si gnal ports from getting damaged by overvoltage or overcurrent caused by lightning strike s.
3-1 3 Installing the Switch When you ask your sales age nt to maintain the switch, you must ensure that the dismantlement-preventive seal on a mounting screw of the 3Com switch chassis is intact. If you want to open the chassis, you should co ntact the agent for permission .
3-2 The Switch 4210G (excluding Switch 42 10G NT 24-Port and Switch 4210G NT 48-Port) su pport IRF. For details about impleme ntation of the IRF system and installati on procedures, refer to Installation Flow for an IRF .
