Signal Se lecti on Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Selection of signals linked with the audio mixer When you select a signal in a switcher bank background A row or AUX bus contro l block which is set to be linke d with the audio mixer, the prog ram output of the audi o mixer f ollows the signal selection.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Transitions In the M/E ba nk s and PG M/PST bank , th e switch from t he current vi deo stre am (appear ing on the corr esponding p rogram moni tor) to a new video str eam is referred to as a transition.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Inser ting and deleting a key You c an ins ert o ne or mo re of th e fo ur k eys (dow nst rea m k eys on th e P GM/ PST bank ). If you select a key which is already inserted, the transitio n will delete the key.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Simul taneously changing the bac kground and ke ys You can change an y of the four keys (downs tream keys on the PG M/PST bank) and the background at the same time.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions The key pr iority va lues go from 1 to 4, wit h a higher pr iority k ey being “in front” as s een on the screen.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Effect of a common transition In the case shown in the previous illustration, carrying out a common transition produces the following c hange in the image.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Simultaneo us execut ion If the [AUTO TRANS] bu ttons for the two trans itions are pressed simultaneously , the following is the result. Note that in both cases the common tr ansitio n is a wipe and the independen t key transition is a mix (dis solve).
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Time offset ex ecution with the key inserted: With the key inserted, it is deleted with the two tran sitions acting with a time o ffset.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Time offset execution with the key not inserted T ransition T ypes Selecting the transitio n type determi nes the way in which th e transition o ccurs. Carry out the type selection wit h the transition type selection buttons in the transition control block of each M/E or PGM/PST bank.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions NAM (non-additive mix) In this disso lve, the current video and new vi deo signals are compared, and t he signal with the higher luminance level is given priority in the output.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Note When the bus fixed mode is s elected with a Setup menu settin g, a preset color mix is always carried out in t he one-stroke mode. • You can also make a setting such that when a preset color mix is completed, the next transi tion switches to the previous transition ty pe automatically.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions When, wi th a ke y insert ed, a key is sele cted in t he next transitio n Preset color mix (when set to preserve key state) Wip e A wipe replaces the cu rrent video by the new video accord ing to a predetermined p attern.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions It is also possible to comb ine both methods, takin g control with the fader lev er of an auto transition which has par tly completed, or complete a transiti on started with the fader lever as an auto transiti on.
Transitions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Flip-flop mode and bus fixed mode For details of fad er lever operation in bus fixed mode, see p age 361. T ransition preview With the preview ou tput of the M/E banks and PGM/PST bank, y ou can check the effect of a transition in advance.
Transit ions Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • When the limit valu e is set to the maximum 100%, the image change s in exactly the same way as when the pattern limit function is off, but when the transition is completed, the cross -point selections on the backg round A and B buses do not i nterchange.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Keys A key is an ef fect in which a part of the background image is replaced by an image or superimpos ed text. The s ignal determi ning how th e background i s cut out is termed “key s ource,” and the sign al that replaces the cut-out part is termed “key fill.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Clea n m ode In a luminance key, linear key or color vector key , you can enable the clean mode. When the clean mode is on, the key source does not affect the key fill, which is added unchan ged to the background.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Norm al m ix: The foregroun d is cut ou t with th e key signal , and then combined with the background, which has als o been cut out with the key signal. Additi ve mix: The backgr ound, whi ch has been cut out w ith the key signal, is combined with the unshaped foreground .
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Window adjustment Y balance In normal ch roma keyin g, the key si gnal is based on the chromin ance component only, and all elements of th e foregro und with the same h ue are replaced by the background.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions For det ails of video adjustment operations and the ad justment i tems, see “Chroma K ey Adjustment s” (page 38 2).
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Border This appl ies a uniform width border to the ed ge of the key. You can adjust the border wi dth and densit y. You can also en able the separate ed ge function, and adjust the top, botto m, left, and r ight border wi dths separatel y.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Outline This uses the outline of the original key as the key. You can adjust the width and density of the ou tline. You can also enable the separate edge fun ction, and adjust the top, bottom, left, and right outline width s separately.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • When the edge type is border, outline, or emboss • When the edge type is normal with soft edge being on • When Fi ne Key i s on To fix key fill / key source in k ey drop off mode In the Edge menu, swi tch frame de lay mode on (s ee page 393 ) .
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Backgrou nd mas k: This m asks out a p art of the backgrou nd, which will re sult in the key fill appearing . Main mask and subsidiary (“sub”) ma sk Each keyer allows two masks to be used simultaneously, and these are referred to as the main ma sk and the sub mask .
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Full mode: All setting s except transition (the same parameter s as simple mode, Fine K ey, key modi fiers, m ain and sub mask setti ngs, chr oma key d etailed se.
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • Clean mode For details, see “Returning the key adjust ment values to th eir defaults” (page 418) . For the menu oper ation to return the key ad justment values to their defaults, see “Retur ning to de fault state i n function g roupings ” (page 324).
Keys Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Relation between resi z er and other effects You cannot apply DME ef fects to a key for which the resizer function is enabled. When on e of the three fun ctions – resizer, DME wipe and DME effects – is enabled , the other two are dis abled.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Wipes A wipe is a transition fro m the curren t video stream to a new video stream, usin g a wi pe pa tter n. Changing the background by means of a wipe is ref erred to as a “bac kground wip e,” an d in ser ti ng or de le tin g a key with a wipe is termed a “key wipe.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions P attern Mix You can create a n ew pattern by combin in g two selected patterns (main and “sub”). Not e It is not possible to apply a pattern mix to an indepen dent key transition. For deta ils , se e “ Patt ern Mix” (pa ge 44 1).
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • A value of 0 .00 corresponds to the beginn ing of the trans ition, and a value o f 100.00 to the end of the transition. • A negative Start value si gnifies that the main and s ub patterns are alr eady combined when the transition starts.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Main and sub modifi er link function When carrying ou t a pattern mi x, it is po ssible to link the modifier s ettings for the main p attern and sub pattern.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Direction You can specify the direction of the wipe: the regular direction is referred to as “normal,” and the other dir ection as “rev erse.” You can also select alternating directions each time the tran sition is completed (normal/reverse mode).
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Edge You can apply a border to the pattern, so ften the edges , or soften the applied borde r. In an independent key transition, only the “Soft” sett ing is available. Border: You can adjus t the border width.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Angle This carries out a wipe with the pattern in a fixed angle. The parameter Angle determines the angle of pattern rotation. A value of –100.00 o f the parameter Angle correspo nds to one wh ole turn counter clockwise; a value o f +100.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions The parameter Ang le determines an angle of pattern inclination at the beginn ing of the transitio n. • A value o f –100.00 corresponds t o the angle rot ated one whole turn counterclockwis e. • A value o f +100.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • The parameter H Multi determines th e number of pattern replications horizontally, and the parameter V Multi determines the number of pattern replications vertically. • The parameter Shif t determines the mann er of replication.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions the righ t, and the o dd-numbered pairs move t o the left. Th e value +100.00 represents the maximum movement. • The parameter V Offset determines th e spacing in the vertical direction.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Vertical modulation This modulates the pattern, applying waviness in the vertical directi on to edges. The parameter Speed determines the speed of waves. A value of –100.00 g enerates the m aximum left ward speed of waves, and a value of +100.
Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions A negati ve parameter val ue produces pi ncushion di stortion, an d a posit ive value produ ces barrel disto rtion. Spiral This deforms the pattern spirally. • The parameter Mag nitude determines the size an d direction of the spiral.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions DME Wipes A DME wipe is a wipe transition that uses a DME effect to change from o ne video image to the next. There are two type s of DME wipe: those which can be selected f or a normal transition, and those which can be selected for an indep endent key transition.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Slide: The new video s lides in ov er the old v ideo. (Pattern nu mbers: 1001 to 1008 (one-channel mo de), 2601 t o 2608 ( two- channel mode)) Squeeze: The new video appears s queezed over the o ld video, and progressiv ely expands to cover it.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Picture-in-picture: The one-chan nel mode and two-chann el mode differ as follows. In one-channel mode, this completes in two transit ions. In the first transitio n, the old vi deo shrinks , and the new video appears behind it.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions In three-channel mo de, a brick appear s over the old video as the image is expanding and rotatin g, and switches to the new video . (Pattern nu mber: 3601 (th ree-channel m ode)) User programmable DME: Using a DME keyf rame effect created with a keyframe operation, this executes a DME wipe.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Transition mode “Compress” The change in the image when the transition mode is set to “Co mpress” is as follows, in comparison to th e case of “Picture-in -picture.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions At the first transition completion poin t, if you move the image with the positioner, the transitio n appears as in the fo llowing figure. Transition mode “frame in-out H” This mode is s pecified when creating a transition effect in the horizontal directi on.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Transition mode “frame in-out V” This mode is s pecified when creating a transition effect in the vertical directi on. In this mode, in the state at completion of the first transition, you can move the image with the p ositioner in both horizont al and vertical directions.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions At the first transition completion poin t, if you move the image with the positioner, the transitio n appears as in the fo llowing figure.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Not e For the SDI interface on the MVE-8000A or MVE-9000, in some cases the AUX bus is used in place of the DME external bus. For details, see “Inter facing With External Devices (Device Interface Menu)” in “S etup Relati ng to Switch er Process or” section of Chapt er 16 (Vol ume2).
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions • 1381, 139 1, 1393, 13 94, 1396 When these pattern numbers are selected, you can set the center of the transition effect.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Relation to o r dinary wipes • DME wipes do not use the wipe generato r built into the switcher. Therefore, during the execution of a DME wipe, you can still use a pattern produced by the wipe gen erator as the source for a pattern key or mask.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions To save and recall thes e registers, use the Flexi Pad co ntrol block in each switcher ban k or the Menu control bl ock. (See “DME Wipe Snapshots” (page 482).) In the case of a simple transition system, there are eight DME wipe snap shot registers for each switcher bank.
DME Wipes Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions combinatio ns of key 1 and k ey 2, or key 3 and key 4 . For examp le, when a dual resizer effect is enabled for key 1, a resizer DME wipe cannot b e used for key 2 .
Frame Memory Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions Frame Memory Overvie w Frame memory is a fu nction whereby a f r ame of input video can be f rozen and written to memory, for further use as material for editing. You can also play r ecorded frame mem ory clips (movies).
Frame Memory Chapter 1 MVS-8000 F unctions SD system: (Without ancillary data) (With ancillary data) Not e For the MVS-8 000A and MVS-80 00G, up to two f rame memory board s can be instal led (MKS-8440 A for the MVS -8000A, MKS-8 442G for t he MVS- 8000G).
