Be sure to match t he speake r cords to the app ropriate terminals on the s peakers: th e speaker cord with the c olo r tub e to 3 , and the speaker c ord without the color tube to # .

19 US Getting Started Note • K eep the AM loop ante nna (aerial) and cord away from the system or othe r AV components, as noise may res ult. • Be sure to f ully ext end the FM wire an tenna (aer ial). • A fter connec ting the FM wir e antenna (aeria l), keep it as hori zontal as possible.
20 US Getting Started Before conne cting the AC po wer cord ( mains le ad) of t he unit to a wall ou tlet (mai ns), conn ect all the speake rs to the unit. After connec ting the A C power cord (ma ins lea d), the dem onstr ation ap pears in the front pa nel disp lay.

Disc 29 US Playing a Disc Depending on the DVD VIDEO or VIDEO CD, some opera tions may be differ ent or rest ricted. Refer t o the operat ing instr uctions suppl ied with your d isc. 1 Turn on your TV. 2 Switch the input selector on the TV to this system.
30 US Other operations 1) Exc ep t for JP EG imag e fil es . 2) Scan speed s may diffe r with some discs. 3) DVD VIDEO, DVD-R, DVD-RW, VIDEO CD only. 4) Except for VIDEO CDs. 5) You cannot search for a still picture on a DVD-VR. 6) DVD VIDEO/DVD-RW/DVD-R on ly.
Disc 31 US When the sys tem is playing a DVD VIDEO record ed in mu ltipl e audio fo rm ats (PCM , Dolb y Di gita l, MPE G aud io, o r DTS ), yo u can change t he au dio form at. If the D VD V IDEO is recorded with multilin gual tra cks, you can also chan ge th e la ngua ge.
32 US Example: Dolby Digita l 3 c hannel You can play the Supe r Audio CD (page 7 8) by selec ting the pl ayback area. To select a play back area on a 2 channel + Multi-channel Super Audio CD Some S uper Au dio CDs con sist of a 2 ch anne l play back are a and a mul ti- channe l play back area.
Disc 33 US PBC playback allows you to play a VIDEO CD interac tively by following the menu on the TV scre en. 1 Start playin g a VIDEO CD with P BC functions. The me nu for your selec tion ap pear s. 2 Select the item number you want using the number buttons.

Disc 37 US Search ing/Sele cting a Disc A DVD is divid ed into a l ot of sectio ns, which make up a pictu re or musi c featu re. Th ese sectio ns are ca lled “tit les.” Wh en you play a DVD which conta ins severa l titles , you can select t he title you wa nt using DVD TOP MENU.
38 US The nu mber in pa renthe ses indi cates the total nu mber of titl es, chapters, tracks, indexes, scenes, fo lders, or files. 3 Press . [** (* *)] ch anges to [– – (**)]. 4 Press X / x or the number butt ons to select the d esired number of the title, chapter, track, index, scene, etc.

Additiona l Inf ormation 71 US Sound Picture noise appears. • The disc is dirty or fl awed. • I f the picture outpu t from your system goes through your VCR to get to your TV, the copy-pr otection sign al applied to som e DVD programs co uld affect picture quality.
72 US Operation Severe hum or noise is heard. • Check tha t the speaker s and components are connected secure ly. • Check that t he connect ing c ords are away fro m a trans former o r motor, and a t least 3 meters (10 ft) away from you r TV set or a fluoresc ent ligh t.
