6 Document Conventions Throughout the document, normal text like this indicates procedures required to correctly configure your de vice. Critical instr uctions and helpful configuration tips are highlighted in italics throughout the te xt. Critical instr uctions are f or matted lik e this and preceded by an e xclamation mar k in a circle.
7 Getting Started W e assume for the purposes of this user lev el manual that your phone system administrator , or installation engineer hav e setup your V oIP P ABX and phones.
8 Using the W eb Inter face The P ABX has a personal web interf ace for each user which ma y be used to view phone inf or mation and make changes to y our user settings and pref erences.
9 choosing. my calls This menu allows y ou to view the most recent calls made through the P ABX. If your P ABX administrator has set call cost patter ns f or some or all of the number prefix es in your recent list then the cost of these calls will also be shown in the list.
10 The e-mail address giv en here is the one to which voicemail notifications from ordinar y e xtensions and/or fax es from any soft fax e xtensions will be sent. If this is entered incorrectly then you will ne ver receive these notifications and inf or mation may be lost.
11 Current home extension Shows the e xtension number of the main e xtension owned b y you as a user . Show/Change m y PIN number - Clicking on this te xt displays the PIN used to log in to voicemail f or the extension. When the PIN is displa yed, entering a new v alue into the box and clicking will change the PIN to this new n umber .
12 change password Enter the old pass word, and new pass word in the two fields f or confirmation, and then click on the button. If you subsequently f orget your passw ord then this can be retriev ed by using the lost pass wor d link on the Logon page (provided your e-mail address is correct).
13 T API Configuration This is an optional component which ma y be licenced on your P ABX. If it is enabled on your installation y ou will see the Show T API settings option on the m y phone area of your user settings.
14 T o download the installer , log on to the P ABX using your user login and go to the m y phone settings screen. Once on that screen, open up the Show T API settings option by clic king on the te xt (see pre vious chapter for details of ho w to do this).
15 Y ou may also see the f ollowing message and, again it should be saf e to trust the installer from it’ s known source. If the installer is properly star ted, a screen like the f ollowing is displ.
16 Y ou will then be prompted to accept the licence agreement and, when accepted, asked to confirm the install location: Once preparation is complete, the f ollowing message will be displa yed, promp.
17 Y ou may wish to dela y rebooting your PC until after completing instructions in the next section to configure the application as a reboot is required after reconfiguring the application and .
18 When impor ting the settings, confirmation box es will be displayed b y the registr y editor . If you are quite sure that the file y ou are impor ting is the same one downloaded from the P ABX th.
19 Then select the ipcortex - Asterisk line: OK the changes, and then clic k on “Start Call” in the pre vious dialogue. Y our phone should r ing and then, when y ou pick it up , the far end will star t to ring. Y ou can then complete the call and hang in the normal wa y once complete.
20 No network connectivity to P ABX The PC needs to be able to comm unicate with an application on TCP por t 5038 of the P ABX. If there is no network connectivity between your PC and the P ABX, or a firewall is pre venting these connections then T API will not be ab le to operate.
21 V oicemail Y our P ABX system is equipped with a voicemail system and there is a one voicemail bo x per extension number b y default. When a call is made to your e xtension and it is either not ans.
22 T o enter this menu, log in to your mailbo x as above , then select: 0 Mailbo x options Within this menu, the f ollowing are a vailab le: 1 Record una vailable messa ge - This is the message which is used when you do not ans wer a call.

25 Phone Quick Reference Cards The f ollowing quick ref erence cards give basic generic information required to operate a number of types of phone . They need to be customised with inf or mation about your system (f or e xample voicemail number) and will often be superseded b y copies provided b y your system administrator .
