5 Section 1 – FA MILIA RIZA TION+ FIGURE 1.1 1.1 INTRODUCT ION This manual has been prepared for the operator’s of the SNAPPER Rear Engine Rider. Its pur pose, aside fr om recom m ending standard operating pr ocedures and routine servic e requirem ents, is to prom ote SAFETY through the use of ac cepted operating practic es.
6 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 PRE-ST A RT C HECK LIST Make the f ollowing check s and perfor m the s ervice required bef ore each start- up. 2.1.1. Check tires and add or release air as needed to bring pressur e to 12 psi in f ront and 12 psi in rear tires.

ENGINE (ELECTRIC START) IMPO RTANT: W hen the ignition key is turned to “START ”, the engine will turn over, but will not start unless the Clutc h/Brake pedal is pressed all the way down, the Blade Lever is in the “Off ” position (See Figure 2.

9 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS WA RNING Once blade is dise ngaged, it should come to a complete stop in 3 seconds or less. If the blade continues to rotate afte r 3 seconds, the blade brake must be adjust ed.

Engage park brak e by pushing clutch/br ake pedal “DOW N” and m oving the park brake latc h to the “ENGAGED” position. W hile holding the park brak e latch “ENGAG ED”, release clutc h/brake pedal to s et park brake.

15 Section 3 - MA INTENA NCE 3.2.9. LUBRICA T ION – GREA SE FITT INGS The f ollowing components on the Rear Engine Rider are equipped with grease fittings and require periodic lubric ation. Apply G eneral Purpose greas e (NLGI No.2) with a grease gun.
16 Section 3 - MA INTENA NCE 3.3 SERV ICE - EVERY 25 OPER A TING HOURS 3.3.8. REAR A XLE BEA RING 1. T he left rear ax le bearing requires thr ee shots of general purpos e grease f rom gr ease gun. See Figure 3.7. NOTE: Som e m odels are equipped with a pre- lubricated sealed bear ing and require no additional lubrication.
