5 Section 1 - FA MILIA RIZA TION FIGURE 1.1 1.1 INTRODUCT ION This manual has been prepared for the operators of the SNAPPER W ALK BEHIND MOW ERS. Its purpose, aside f rom recom m ending operating and routine servic e requirem ents, is to prom ote safety through the use of accepted operating pr actices.
6 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 PRE-START CHECK LIST Make the following chec ks and perform the ser vice required bef ore each start- up. 2.1.1. Check guards, deflec tors, gras s bag, adapter and covers to m ake s ure all are in place and s ecurely tightened.

9 Section 3 - MA INTENA NCE 3.1 INTRODUCT ION To retain the quality of the mower, us e genuine SNAPPER replacem ent parts only. Contact a local SNAPPER dealer for parts and s ervice assis tance. For the cor rect part or infor mation for a partic ular mower, always mention m odel and ser ial number .

15 Section 4 - A DJUSTMENTS & REPA IR WA RNING The electrolyte (acid ) produces a h ighly explosive gas. Keep all sparks, flame and fire away from area w hen charging batter y or when handling electrolyte or battery . Ele ctrolyte (acid) is a highly corr osive liquid.

19 DECA L IDENTIFICATION (7) GRO UND SPEED: Shows dir ection of movem ent and the ability to select one of thr ee ground speeds by mo ving the lever. The num ber 3 (Rabbit) indicates the top speed, num ber 2 indicates the m edium speed and the number 1 (Tur tle) indicates the s lowest speed.
