It provides a complete SOHO solution for Internet surfing and is easy to configure and operate even for non-techni ca l users.

-11- 2. Set up LAN co nnection: a. Wired L AN connection: connect an Ethernet cable f ro m y o ur com p uter ’ s Ethernet port to one of the LAN ports of this product. b. Wireless LA N co nnection: make sure the antennas are in a vertical position (if not, rotate them m ore than 90 degrees).
-12- 4. Power on: By co nnecting the power cord to the po w er i nlet a nd turning the power switch on, this product w ill a utomatically enter the sel f-test phase.
-13- Chapter 3 Netw or k Settings and Sof tw a r e Inst allation T o us e this product correctly , y o u have to properly configure the network set t ings of your computers and install the attached setup program into y o ur MS W indo w s plat form (W indow s 95/98/NT/2000).

Is the Ethernet cable cor rectl y connected between this pr oduct and your comput er? Tip : The LAN LED of this product and th e l ink LED of the netw ork card on your computer m ust be lit.

-16- Step 4: When th e following w indow is displayed, click on th e Finish button. Step 5: Select the item to res tart the computer , then clic k the OK b utt on to reboot your compu ter . Step 6: After rebooting you r co m p uter, th e so ftw are installation procedure is complete.
-17- Chapter 4 Configuring Wireless Broadband Router This product prov ides a W eb-based conf iguration scheme, i.e., conf iguring by Netscape Communi ca tor or Intern et Explorer . This approach can be adopted in any MS W indows, Macintos h or UNIX based platf orm.
-18- 4.2 S tatus This optio n pr o vides the fu nction for observing this product’ s working statu s: A. W AN Port Status. If the W AN port is assigned a dy namic IP , there may appear a “ Renew ” or “ Release ” button on t he Si denote column.
-19- 4.3 T oolbox This option enables y ou to change the administrator password. Y ou can also get inform atio n abo ut Firm ware version and W AN's MAC Add ress . Y ou can reboot th is product by cl icking th e Reboot button. Note: W e strongly recommen d that you chan ge the sys tem passw ord for security reasons.
-20- 4.4 Prim ary Setup This optio n is es sen t ial to enable this product to w or k properly . T he setting items and the w eb appearance depend on the W AN type. C hoose the correct W AN type bef o re you start. 1. LAN IP Addres s : this product’ s IP ad dress.

-22- 4.5 DHCP Server The settings of the TCP/IP environment include Host IP , Subnet Mask, Gateway , and DNS configurations . It i s not easy to correctly conf i gure all the computers in your LAN environment. Fortunatel y , DHCP provides a simple approach to handle these settin gs.
-23- 4.6 V irtual Server This product ’ s NA T firew a ll filters ou t unrecognized packets to protect y our Intranet, thus all ho sts behi nd this p rod uct are external ly invi sible . If you wish, you c an ma ke some o f them accessible by enablin g the V irtual Server M apping .
-24- 4.7 Special AP Some applications require multiple connectio ns, su c h as Internet games, video conferencing , Internet telephony , etc.. Due to th e firewa l l fun ct ion, t hese applications cannot work with a pu re NA T router . Special Applications enables some of t hese applications to work with an NA T router .
-25- 4.8 Access Contr ol Access Control allows you to assign diff erent access rights to different users. First, you have to divide users into dif ferent groups. Users are identified by their IP addresses. Y ou can assign acces s rig h ts to th e m e mbers of Grou p 1, 2 and 3.
-26- 4.9 Misc. Items 1. IP Address of DMZ H ost : DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) The host is one witho ut th e protection of firewall. It allows a co mputer to be exposed to u nrestricted t w o -way comm unication. Note th at this feature shou ld be used only w hen needed.
-27- 4.10 Wir eless Setting W ireless settings allow y o u to set the wireless configu r atio n item s. 1. Networ k ID(SSID) : Network ID is used to identify the WLAN. Clie nt stations can roam freely on this product and other A ccess Po ints that have th e sa me Network ID.
-28- Chapter 5 Print Serv er This product provides the function of the netw ork print server for MS W indows 95/98/NT/2000 and Un ix-based pl atforms. Y ou mus t configure each st ation individually to connect to your server p rinter .

Click on the button of Port Settings : T y p e in the IP address of this product and then click the OK button.

-32- 5.4 Configuring on Unix-based Platforms Please follow the traditio nal configuration pr ocedure on Unix platfor ms to set up the print server of this product.
-33- A ppendix A: TCP/IP Confi guration for Window s 95/ 98 This sect ion advises on how to in stall TCP/IP protocol int o your personal com puter . It assum e s y o u have s uccessfully install ed one network card on y our personal computer . If not, p lease r efer to yo ur net work card manual .
-34- 5. Select the Micr osoft item in the manufact ure rs list. Choose TCP/IP in the Ne twork Pr otocols . Click OK button to return to Network w indow . 6. T he T CP/IP protocol will be lis ted in the Netw ork window . Click OK to complete the install procedu r e and restart your PC to en able the TCP/IP protocol.
