5 Batter y inser tion and remo val Handling the batter y The pro tective tab on your battery should only be removed when you ar e ready to use the battery . Inserting the batter y Open the battery compar tment with your fingernail as shown in the illustration.
6 Gently close the battery compar t- ment by pressing the bo ttom of the door upward with your finger tip. Do not f orce the door shut. If it does not close easily , check to see if the battery was inser ted properly . When the batter y door is complet ely closed, your hearing instrument is ready f or use.
7 Caution: K eep batteries and instruments awa y from the reach of small children. Batteries can be harmful if swallo wed. If swallo wed consult a physician or a hospital immediately .
8 Batter y compar tment door lock Y our instruments are equipped with battery compar tment door locks. They are int ended to pre vent the unintentional r emoval of batteries from their compartment. T o lock the batter y compartment, open the compartment door to the first stop.
9 Inser ting and removing y our A CURIS BTE Make sur e that your hearing instrument is turned off. Hold the earmold between y our thumb and index finger and insert it carefully into y our ear canal. Y ou may find it helpful to pull y our ear slightly upward or t o the back.
10 T urning y our A CURIS BTE on and of f fig 1 fig 2 Via the batter y compartment Y our ACURIS hearing system aut omatically turns on when a battery is inser ted and the compartment door is closed complet ely . T o turn of f Press the batt er y compar tment to the rear down t o the first stop to turn the instrument OFF .
11 Y our hearing system can also be programmed b y your hearing instrument specialist to be turned on and off using the program button. Via the push button T o turn your hearing instrument off, press and hold the pro- gram button f or appro ximately 2 seconds.
12 e2e wireless TM Unique to y our ACURIS hearing system is the e2e (ear -to-ear) wireless TM t echnology . The wireless functionality: - automatically adjusts the system t o change both hearing instruments simultaneously to adapt t o different list ening situations.
13 Wireless remote control - ePock et TM (accessor y) With the wireless function y ou also hav e the possibility of using the ePock et (bi-directional r emote control) fr om Siemens. With it, you can change the pr ogram and volume of your hearing syst em and read out the syst em settings.

15 Using the directional microphone syst em According t o your hearing needs, your A CURIS hearing system can be adjust ed to focus on those sounds in fr ont of you (dir ectional mode) for when you are having a face-to-face conv ersation in a noisy environment.
16 Using the v olume control (Only A CURIS P) Y our ACURIS P hearing system is fully automatic. Ther e is no need to manually adjust the volume contr ol. However , if you pr efer manual volume control, ACURIS P hearing syst em can be prog rammed for manual adjustment.
17 A udio input Attaching an audio shoe Open the battery compar tment door to the first st op. Open the audio input flap and hook the audio shoe in from the fr ont. Gently press it int o place so that it attaches to the back and the curve of the audio shoe presses against the bott om of the hearing instru- ment.
18 T urning of f an instrument with audio shoe attached Press the audio shoe up in the back, until the battery compar t- ment opens and catches on the first stop. Removing the audio shoe Press the audio shoe t oward the front. Then unhook it and close the audio input flap.
19 The telecoil mode is int ended for t elephone use. In the telecoil mode, place the telephone r ecei- ver close t o your hearing instru- ment for best r eception. By tr ying various positions with the telepho- ne receiver , you will disco ver what works best for y ou.
20 Maintenance and care Y our new ACURIS hearing syst em is a highly sensitive system. Proper car e and handling will ensure the best possible performance. Ear wax ma y accumulate on your earmold. If not cleaned regularly y ou can damage the hearing systems or cause health problems.
21 Impor tant not es • Never e xpose your hearing system to e xtreme temperatur es or high humidity . Do not st ore it in direct sunlight. Do not wear it when taking a shower or when using hairspra y . • As with all electrical, non gas-encapsulated systems, the hearing system must no t be operated in explosion- endangered r ooms.
22 T roubleshoo ting tips Y our ACURIS hearing system is an e xtremely dependable device. How ever , should a problem occur , this can usually be correct ed quickly .
