6 MAFF HEA TING CA TEGOR Y The heating category (a letter A to E) developed by MAFF (Ministr y of Agriculture, Fisheries and F ood) with micr owa ve ov en and food manufactur ers indicates the ability of the oven to heat small quantities of food (up to 500g [1lb 2oz]).
7 MICR O W A VE PO WER LEVELS •Y our oven has 5 po wer lev els, as shown. •T o change the pow er level f or cooking, enter the requir ed time and then press the PO WER LEVEL ke y until the display indicates the desired le vel. • Power level The micr owa ve pow er lev el is varied by the micro wa ve energy switching on and off.
8 SETTING THE CLOCK Y our oven has a 12 hour and a 24 hour clock. •T o select the 12 hour clock, press the KITCHEN TIMER/CLOCK SET ke y once . will appear on the displa y . •T o select the 24 hour clock, press the KITCHEN TIMER/CLOCK SET ke y twice .
9 HO W T O OPERA TE Y OUR O VEN Opening the door : To open the ov en door , pull the door opening handle . Starting the ov en: Prepar e and place food in a suitable container onto the turntable or place directl y onto the turntable . Close the door and press the ST AR T/AUT O MINUTE key.
10 HO W T O OPERA TE Y OUR O VEN MANU AL DEFROSTING • Enter the defrosting time and use micr owav e pow er levels 10P or 30P to defr ost (ref er to page 7). •S tir or turn the food, where possible, 2 - 3 times during defrosting. •A fter defrosting, cov er the food in foil and lea ve to stand until thor oughly defr osted.
11 EXPRESS COOK / EXPRESS DEFR OST EXPRESS COOK/EXPRESS DEFR OST enables you to cook or defrost the f oods listed on the control panel and the charts on pages 12-13. Follow the example below for details on ho w to operate these functions. EXPRESS COOK allows you to cook 3 popular menus fr om frozen or chilled.
12 EXPRESS COOK CHAR T WEIGHT RANGE: •F ood weight should be r ounded up or down to the nearest 0.1kg, f or example , 0.65kg to 0.7kg or 0.34kg to 0.
13 EXPRESS DEFR OST CHAR T AU TO COOK MENU WEIGHT RANGE COOKING PROCEDURE Meat joint: 0.5kg - 1.5kg • Place meat in a flan dish on the turntable. Beef/Lamb/Pork • T urn over when audible signal sounds. • Stand, wrapped in foil, f or 60-90 minutes until defrosted.
No MENU WEIGHT RANGE COOKING PROCEDURE A C-1 Jack et Potatoes 1 - 4 pieces • Pierce each potato in sev eral places and place (1 potato = towards the edge of the turntable. a ppr ox. 250g) • T urn food over when the ov en indicates. • Stand, wrapped in aluminium foil f or 5 minutes.
15 CONVENIENT FUNCTIONS 1. SEQUENCE COOKING: This function enables continued and uninterrupted operation of up to 3 diff erent stages. Example: To cook for : 5 minutes on 100P pow er (Stage 1) 16 minutes on 30P pow er (Stage 2) The ov en will begin to cook for 5 minutes on 100P and then for 16 minutes on 30P .
16 CONVENIENT FUNCTIONS 3. LESS ( ▼ ) and MORE ( ▲ ) TIME: The LESS ( ▼ ) TIME and MORE ( ▲ ) TIME ke ys enable you to: • Cook/defrost f ood for less or more time than the automatic pr ogrammes. • Decrease or incr ease cooking/defrosting time whilst the o ven is in use (manual cooking only).
17 CONVENIENT FUNCTIONS 1. Enter the desired time by pr essing the 1 MIN ke y 5 times. 2. Press the KITCHEN TIMER/CLOCK SET ke y once . The displa y will count down.
18 MICR O W A VE COOKING AD VICE Micro wav es cook food faster than conventional cooking. It is theref ore essential that certain techniques are f ollowed to ensur e good results. Many of the f ollowing techniques are similar to those used in conv entional cooking.
19 MICR O W A VE COOKING AD VICE Check the temperature of food and drink and stir bef ore serving. T ake special care when serving to babies, children or the elderly . The contents of feeding bottles and baby f ood jars are to be stirr ed or shaken and the temperatur e is to be check ed before consumption to a void burns.
20 SUIT ABLE COOKW ARE To cook/defrost f ood in a microwa ve ov en, the micro wav e energ y must be able to pass through the container to penetrate the food. Ther efore it is important to choose suitable cookware. Round/oval dishes ar e preferable to square/oblong ones, as the f ood in the corners tends to ov ercook.
21 DEFR OSTING AD VICE Defrosting f ood using your micr owa ve ov en is the quick est method of all. It is a simple proccess but the f ollowing instructions are essential to ensur e the food is thoroughl y defrosted. NO TES: • Remov e all packaging and wrapping before defr osting.
