3 CHAPTER 2 Installation AutoVi ew 3050/3100/3200 Swit ch Con nectivity The AutoVi ew 3050/3 100/320 0 switching s ystem transmits key board, video and m ouse (KVM) information between operato rs and target devices attached to th e switch over a network using either an Ethernet or modem con nection.

You may either place the AutoView 3050/3100/3200 sw itch on the rack shelf or mount the switch d i rectly into an Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) standard rack.

Chapter 2: Installation 9 Connecting to the OBWI through a firewall For AutoView 3050/3 100/3200 switch installations that use the OBWI for access, fou r ports must be opened in a firewall if o u tsi de access is desired. In a typi cal configurat ion, as s hown in Figur e 2.
10 AutoView 3050/31 00/3200 Switch Installer/User Gu ide T o configure the firewall: To access the AutoView 3050/31 00/3200 switch from ou ts ide a firewall, configure yo ur firewall to forward por ts 80, 443, 2068 an d 8192 from its external interface to the KVM sw itch through the firewall’s internal interface.

13 CHAPTER 3 Local Port Operat ion The AutoView 30 50/3100/3200 s witch includ es a local port on the back. This port enables you to connect a keyb oard, monitor an d mouse to the switch for direct access. The AutoView 3050/3100/ 3200 switches include th e OSCAR graphical user interface for c onfiguring your s ystem and selecting target devices.

71 CHAPTER 6 T erminal Operations The Console Menu Each AutoView 30 50/3100/3200 sw itch may be co nfigured at the appliance l evel throug h the Console menu in terface accessed through the 101 01 port. All terminal commands are accessed through a t erminal or PC running termin al emulation software.

Appe ndices 77 Appendix B : Using Serial IQ Modules The serial IQ module is a serial-to-VGA converter that allows VT1 00-capable devices to be viewed from th e AutoView 3050/ 3100/320 0 switch local po rt or the OB WI. The actual serial data is not accessed, but is merely d is pl ayed.
