CONNECTIONS Connect the video camera and monitor TV as s hown in the figure below. NOTE: Before making the connections , make sure all the devices are disconnected from the DC power supply.

CHANGING THE ON-SCREEN DISPLA Y Selecting the On-screen Display You can select to dis play or not the date, time, the number of alarm recordings and tape speed. 1 Turn the power on to all devices used. 2 Press the MENU button until the (S ET UP 2) menu is displayed.
VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Use only video cassette tapes bearing the w logo. This VCR was primarily designed for use with T-120 or T-160 cassette tapes, it is rec ommended to use T-120 or T-160 standard grade VHS video c assette tapes for optimal performance.
VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Correct tape thread check function If the correct tape thread check func tion is on, after the cassette tape is loaded, a mec hanism will operate for about 12 seconds to check that the tape has been threaded (loaded) correctly and the cass ette indicator “ o ” will blink during that period.
T APE MANA GEMENT FUNCTION This VCR is equipped with a tape management function. Using this function you can protec t previous recordings and prevent overuse of the tape by c ontrolling the tape protection term (number of days), the maximum number of re-recordings of the tape and the recor ding group.

T APE MANA GEMENT FUNCTION Tape Management Conflict Display If when the tape management function checks the tape data a conflict that prevents rec ording is found, the (TAPE MANAGEME NT) menu is displayed with the conflicting setting flashing and the VCR go into the stop mode.
NORMAL RECORDING Normal Recording Before starting • Turn the power on to all devices used. • Select the “ TAPE ” in the (SET UP 5) menu accor ding to the type of the tape used.
NORMAL RECORDING Concerning the Number of Times Tapes can be Rerecorded on Depending on the recording speed mode, the tape must be replaced after a certain number of recor ding times. Refer to the table below for the maximum number of times a tape can be recorded on.
NORMAL RECORDING Changes to the Recording Speed Mode During Recording It is possible to permit or prevent changing the recor ding speed mode during recording.
NORMAL RECORDING Setting the Mode at the End of the Tape In the (SET UP 3) menu, you can set the mode of the VCR mode when the tape reaches the end during record ing.

ALARM RECORDING By connecting the ALARM IN/CLOCK IN terminal to a door switch, an interphone, etc., a recording can be done only when necessary. Alarm Recording Setting Alarm recording is performed when there is an input (trigger) at the ALARM IN/CLOCK IN terminal, “ AL ” is displayed on the digital display.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Recording Counter Display • During alarm recording, “ AL ” will be flashing on the digital display. • If the ON SCREEN switch is set to the “ ON ” position, the number of alarms will flash on the monitor scr een.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Search To go to the beginning of a desired alarm recording. 1 Press the PAUSE/SEARCH button during s top mode. ° “ AL SEARCH 01 ” will be displayed on screen. 2 Press the l (or j ) button to set the desired alarm number (1 to 99), then press the FF (or REW ) button.
PR OGRAM TIMER RECORDING There are two program timer recording methods, daily recording or recording on cer tain days of the week. Example 1: To record on every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (17:00), in 24-hour mode (recording speed). • Follow the Before starting steps, under “ NORMAL RECORDING ” .
PR OGRAM TIMER RECORDING A timer recording of more than 24 hours c an only be set on the 7th (SAT) and 8th (DLY) lines of the (TIMER S ET) menu. Example 2: To record every week from Saturday at 9:00 PM (21:00) to Monday at 7:00 AM, in 40-hour mode (recording speed).
PR OGRAM TIMER RECORDING Setting the Holidays By setting the holidays , timer recording will be conducted on those days, as s et for Sundays. 1 Press the MENU button until the (HO LIDAY SET) menu is displayed.
PR OGRAM TIMER RECORDING NOTES: • During timer recording or timer recording stand-by, all the buttons on the VCR, except the TIM ER button and the buttons to set/cancel the security lock (see page 35), are disabled. • If the power fails, the record ing will be interrupted.
SERIES RECORDING Using 2 VCRs or more, the series r ecording function lets you switch recording from one unit to the next ( only with VCRs of the same model as this one). Series Recording Setup • Connect 2 VCRs or more as illus trated below. • Select the “ TAPE ” setting in the (SET UP 3) menu according to the type of the tape used.
SERIES RECORDING Continous Loop Recording Setup A minimum of 2 units are required for continuous loop record ing. Example with 2 VCRs. Under loop recording when the recording finishes on the first unit, the new recording will start on the sec ond unit.
NORMAL PLA YB A CK Normal Playback 1 Turn on the power to the VCR and TV monitor. 2 Load the video cassette tape. 3 Press the REC/PLAY SPEED CHANGE button to select the playback speed mode. ° The selected playbac k speed mode is displayed on the digital display.
SPECIAL PLA YB A CK Picture Search (Forward and Reverse) 1 Press the FF (or REW ) button, during normal playback. ° The image can be seen while the tape is advanced (or rewound) at high speed. 2 To return to normal playback, press the PLAY button. NOTES: • During picture search, nois e (horizontal bars) will appear in the picture.
D A Y/TIME SEARCH Day/Time Search 1 Press the PAUSE/SEARCH button three times during stop mode. ° “ T/D SEARCH 01 00:00 ” will be displayed on screen. 1H22M33S T/D@SEARCH 01@@00:00 DAY@TIME 2 Press the l (or j ) button to set the desired day, then press the * button.
SETTING THE B UZZER A buzzer can be set to s ound during alarm recording, if during recording the tape reaches the end, if buttons are pressed or if there is a mechanical failur e that causes the tape to stop or be ejected, etc. 1 Press the MENU button until the (S ET UP 2) menu is displayed.
SETTING THE CASSETTE EJECT MODE Cassette Eject Setup When using 2 VCRs or more, the cassette tape of all the VCRs or some of the VCRs c an be ejected, if the EJE CT terminals on the VCRs are connec ted as indicated. 1 Press the MENU button until the (S ET UP 4) menu is displayed.
SETTINGS FOR RS485 TERMINALS USE If the VCR is going to be controlled trough a connec tion to the RS485 terminals, be sure to first make the s ettings below. NOTES: • Can only be used with the optional RS-485 board. • When using the optional RS-485 board, the VCR c an be controlled from a special controller.
CHECKING POWER F AILURE, F AILURE DUE TO CONDENSA TION AND USAGE DURA TION 1 Press the MENU button until the (P OWER FAILURE), (DEW) and (U SED TIME) menu is displayed. (POWER FAILURE) . . . The number of power failures, and the date and time of the most recent power failure and recovery are displayed.
OUTPUT TERMINALS TAPE END OUT Terminal • During recording, when the end of the tape is reached or when the tape counter reading indicates 7 hours 57 minutes or more, the output becomes 0V (Low). • To reset the output, press the STOP or EJECT button.
OUTPUT TERMINALS SERIES OUT/NON REC OUT terminal setting The output at the SERIES OUT/NON REC OUT terminal can be set. 1 Press the MENU button until the (S ET UP 5) menu is displayed. NOTE: • If “ OUTPU T ” is set to “ NON REC ” , the “ NON REC OUT ” line will be dis played under the “ OUTPUT ” line.
OUTPUT TERMINALS REMOTE Jack You can use a VA -RMN01 Remote Control Unit (sold separately) to control remotely the VCR. NOTE: • The functions not available on the VCR will not operate. Remote control of the VCR is possible by connecting a remote controller with a circuit such as indic ated below, to the REMOTE jack.
OUTPUT TERMINALS WARNING OUT Terminal • If the tape stops or other problem, the output becomes 0V (Low). • To reset the output, press the STOP or ALL RE S ET button or unplug the power cord then plug it back in. MAINTENANCE Daily Inspection The following daily inspections are recommended in or der to assure long-term and trouble-free operation of the unit. The daily inspections are par ticularly important if using autorepeat recording. Inspection Procedure 1 Turn on the power to the VCR, camera, TV monitor and other connected devices.
MAINTENANCE Maintaining and Checking The Mechanism To maintain the VCR functions and features wor king properly, and to avoid damages or dirt on the tape, it is recommended to follow the maintenance points and periodicity indicated below. For detailed information, please contact your dealer .
