ENG-14 C ONNECTIONS Connection to a TV The following shows examples of connections commonly used to connect the DVD-VCR with a TV and other components. Connecting to a TV with an HDMI Jack 1 Using an HDMI-HDMI cable, connect the HDMI OUT jack on the rear of the DVD player to the HDMI IN jack of your TV .

Using HDMI, the DVD player transmits a digital video and audio signal and displays a vivid picture on a TV having an HDMI input jack.
ENG-16 C ONNECTIONS Connecting to a TV (Progressive) 1 Using Component video cables (not included), connect the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the COMPONENT IN jacks of your TV .
ENG- 17 C ONNECTIONS Connecting to a TV (Interlace) - Connecting to your TV using Component video cables. - Y ou will enjoy high quality and accurate color reproduction images. Component video separates the picture element into black and white(Y), blue(P B ), red(P R ) signals to present clear and clean images.
ENG-18 C ONNECTIONS 1 Using video/audio cables, connect the VIDEO (yellow)/AUDIO (red and white) OUT jacks on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the VIDEO (yellow)/AUDIO (red and white) IN jacks of your TV . 2 T urn on the DVD-VCR and TV . 3 Press the input selector on your TV remote control until the Video signal from the DVD-VCR appears on the TV screen.
ENG- 19 C ONNECTIONS Connection to an Audio System Connecting to an Audio System (2 Channel Amplifier , Analog) 1 Using the audio cables, connect the (LINE) AUDIO (red and white) OUT jacks on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the AUDIO (red and white) IN jacks of the Amplifier .
ENG-20 C ONNECTIONS Connecting to an Audio System (Dolby digital, MPEG2 or DTS Amplifier) 1 Using a Coaxial cable or an Optical cable (not included), connect the DIGIT AL AUDIO OUT (COAXIAL) or DIGIT AL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack on the rear of the DVD-VCR to the DIGIT AL AUDIO IN (COAXIAL) or DIGIT AL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) jack of the Amplifier .
ENG- 21 C ONNECTIONS Connecting the Power Cord 1 Y our DVD-VCR's power cord should be plugged into a standard 120V/60Hz wall outlet. 2 T urn on the power by pressing the POWER button on the remote control or on the front panel. 3 T urn on your TV by pressing the POWER button on the TV remote control.
ENG-22 Chapter 3 I NITIAL S ETUP Selecting a Menu Language Follow these steps to change the on-screen MENU language to English, French or Spanish. 1 Press the MENU button. 2 Press the buttons to select Setup , then press the or ENTER button.

Setting the Clock Manually If Auto Setup fails to set the DVD-VCR’s internal clock by locating a local TV station, follow these steps to set the date and time manually .

ENG-26 Chapter 4 DVD O PERA TIONS Playing a Disc Before Play - T urn on your TV and set it to the correct V ideo Input on your TV's remote control. - If you connected an external Audio System, turn on your Audio System and set it to the correct Audio Input.
ENG- 27 DVD O PERA TIONS ▼ - Screen stops, no sound. - T o resume, press the (Play/Pause) button once again. Note If the player is left for about 5 minutes in pause mode, it will stop. ▼ - Each time the button is pressed, a new frame will appear .
ENG-28 DVD O PERA TIONS Using the Search and Skip Functions During play , you can search quickly through a chapter or track, and use the skip function to jump to the next selection. Searching through a Chapter or T rack Notes - The speed marked in this function may be different from the actual playback speed.
ENG- 29 DVD O PERA TIONS Using the Display Function When Playing a DVD/MPEG4 ▼ Y ou may use the number buttons of the remote control to directly access a title, chapter or time to start the playback from a desired time. 1 During play , press the INFO button on the remote control.
ENG-30 DVD O PERA TIONS Note T o access the desired title when there is more than one on the disc. For example, if there is more than one movie on a DVD, each movie will be identified. Most DVD discs are recorded in chapters so that you can quickly find a specific scene Allows playback of the film from a desired time.
ENG- 31 DVD O PERA TIONS Using the Disc and T itle Menu (DVD) Notes - Depending on the disc, the Disc Menu or T itle Menu may not work. - Y ou can also use the Disc Menu by using the DISC MENU button on the remote control. - The T itle Menu will only be displayed if there are at least two titles on the disc.

ENG- 35 DVD O PERA TIONS Adjusting the Aspect Ratio (EZ View) Set the aspect ratio (length x width) of your TV screen so the DVD-VCR will display movies at the appropriate size for your television. T o Playback using Aspect Ratio (DVD) Press the EZ VIEW button on the remote control.
ENG-36 DVD O PERA TIONS If you are using a 4:3 TV For 16:9 aspect ratio discs - 4:3 Letter Box Displays the content of the DVD title in 16:9 aspect ratio. The black bars will appear at the top and bottom of the screen. - 4:3 Pan Scan The left and right portions of the screen are cut off and the central portion of the 16:9 screen is displayed.
ENG- 37 DVD O PERA TIONS Selecting the Audio Language Y ou can select a desired audio language quickly and easily with the AUDIO button. Using the AUDIO button (DVD/MPEG4) 1 During play , press the AUDIO button. Audio languages change when the ¦ ¦ / button is pressed repeatedly .
ENG-38 DVD O PERA TIONS Selecting the Subtitle Language Y ou can select a desired subtitle quickly and easily with the SUBTITLE button. Using the SUBTITLE button (DVD/MPEG4) 1 During play , press the SUBTITLE button. The subtitle changes when the button is pressed repeatedly .
ENG- 39 DVD O PERA TIONS 1 Press the ANGLE button, then the ANGLE ( ) icon will appear with the current angle number and the number of angles available. 2 Press the ¦ button repeatedly to select the desired angle. T o remove the ANGLE ( ) icon, press the CLEAR or RETURN button.
ENG-40 DVD O PERA TIONS 1 During play , press the MARK button on the remote control. 3 Press the (Play/Pause) button to play the marked scene. 2 Press the ¦ buttons to select a marked scene. Recalling a Marked Scene 1 During play , press the MARK button on the remote control.
ENG- 41 DVD O PERA TIONS Using the Zoom Function (DVD) ▼ During DVD play , press ENTER to zoom in 2X/4X/2X/Normal in order . Y ou can also select the Zoom function directly using ZOOM button on the remote control. Note Depending on the disc, the Zoom function may not work.
ENG-42 DVD O PERA TIONS Clips Menu for CDAudio/ MP3/ WMA/JPEG/ MPEG4 Discs with MP3/WMA/JPEG/MPEG4 contain individual songs and/or pictures that can be organized into folders as shown below . They are similar to how you use your computer to put files into different folders.
ENG- 43 DVD O PERA TIONS CD Audio/MP3/WMA Playback 1 Open the disc tray . 2 Place the disc on the tray . 3 Close the tray . ▼ When a disc or a folder contains both MP3 and WMA files, only one type will be played, not both. 4 Press the buttons to select a song file.
ENG-44 DVD O PERA TIONS CD-R MP3/WMA file When you record MP3 or WMA files on a CD-R, please refer to the following. - Y our MP3 or WMA files should be ISO 9660 or JOLIET format. ISO 9660 format and Joliet MP3 or WMA files are compatible with Microsoft's DOS and Windows, and with Apple's Mac.
ENG- 45 DVD O PERA TIONS MPEG4 Playback MPEG4 Play Function A VI files are used to contain the audio and video data. Only A VI format files with the “.avi” extensions can be played. 1 Open the disc tray . Place the disc on the tray . Close the tray .
ENG-46 DVD O PERA TIONS Notes - Some MPEG4 files created on a personal computer may not be able to be played back. That is why Codec T ype, V ersion and Higher resolution higher than the specifications are not supported. - This unit supports CD-R/RW written in MPEG4 in accordance with the “ISO9660 format”.
ENG- 47 DVD O PERA TIONS Picture CD Playback 1 Select the desired folder then press the ENTER button. Notes - Press the (Stop) button to return to the clips menu. - When playing a Kodak Picture CD, the unit displays the Photo directly , not the clips menu.
ENG-48 DVD O PERA TIONS CD-R JPEG Discs - Only files with the “.jpg” and “.JPG” extensions can be played. - If the disc is not finalized, it will take longer to start playing and not all of the recorded files may be played. - Only CD-R discs with JPEG files in ISO 9660 or Joliet format can be played.
ENG- 49 DVD O PERA TIONS Using the Setup Menu The Setup menu lets you customize your DVD-VCR by allowing you to select various language preferences, set up a parental level, and even adjust the player to the type of television screen you have. Œ Language Setup: Setup of the Language.
ENG-50 DVD O PERA TIONS Setting Up the Language Features If you set the audio and subtitle language in advance, the settings will automatically be applied every time you watch a movie. ▼ - Once the language is selected, the screen returns to the Language Setup menu.
ENG- 51 DVD O PERA TIONS Language Function ▼ - If the selected language is not recorded on the disc, the original pre- recorded language is selected. ▼ - Select “Original” if you want the default soundtrack language to be the original language the disc is recorded in.

ENG- 55 DVD O PERA TIONS Display Options TV Aspect Depending on the type of television you have, you may want to adjust the aspect ratio (screen setting). - 4:3 Letter Box: Select when you want to see the total 16:9 ratio screen the DVD supplies, even though you have a TV with a 4:3 ratio screen.
ENG-56 DVD O PERA TIONS HDMI This setting is used when the DVD-VCR is connected by HDMI to Display devices (TV , projector , etc). ENG- 57 DVD O PERA TIONS ● Consult your TV User ’ s Manual to find out if your TV supports Progressive Scan. If Progressive Scan is supported, follow the TV User ’ s Manual regarding Progressive Scan settings in the TV’ s menu system. ● If the V ideo Output is set incorrectly , the screen may not display an image.
ENG-58 DVD O PERA TIONS Setting Up the Parental Control The Parental Control function works in conjunction with DVDs that have been assigned a rating, which helps you control the types of DVDs that your family watches. There are up to 8 rating levels on a disc.

ENG-70 VCR O PERA TIONS 5 While the DVD-VCR is in pause mode, press the REC button. The pause mode is displayed on the screen. Using the Assemble Edit Function This function allows you to start a new recording at a specific position on the cassette while maintaining a very smooth scene change.

ENG-74 VCR O PERA TIONS If you wish to protect a cassette, break off the tab using a small screwdriver . T o re-record over a protected cassette (safety tab broken), cover the hole with adhesive tape. Basic Recording Y ou can record a TV show in progress by inserting a blank tape and pressing the REC button.
ENG- 75 VCR O PERA TIONS T o Watch a DVD while Recording Insert a DVD in the DVD tray and press the (Play/Pause). The output will automatically change to the DVD.
ENG-76 VCR O PERA TIONS Using One-T ouch Recording One-T ouch Recording (OTR) allows you to add recording time in 30-minute increments up to 4 hours at the touch of a button. 1 Insert a blank VHS tape into the VCR deck. 2 Use the CH or buttons to select the desired TV channel, or press the INPUT SEL.
ENG- 77 VCR O PERA TIONS Press the SPEED button on the remote control to select the Record Speed. - SP: Standard Play , for best quality . - SLP: Super Long Play , for maximum recording time (3 times SP). 5 Add Recording Time Continue pressing REC button to add recording time in 30 minute increments up to 4 hours.
ENG-78 VCR O PERA TIONS Making a T imer Recording Insert a blank videotape into the VCR deck. Be sure to leave the Record Safety T ab intact. With the T imer Recording function, you can program up to 7 events at a time to record up to a month in advance.
ENG- 79 VCR O PERA TIONS 5 Save Timer Recording Press the RETURN button to finish setting the timer recording. Stop the DVD-VCR or turn the power off. Then the DVD-VCR will automatically turn on and begin recording at the time you set. T o stop the timer recording, press the POWER button or press the (Stop) button twice.
