G etting Started English - 5 • Use a 700MB(80 minutes) CD-R/-R W disc. If possible, do not use a 800MB(90 minutes) or abo ve disc , as the disc ma y not play bac k. • If the CD-R/-R W disc was not recorded as a closed session, you ma y experience a dela y in the early pla yback time , all recorded files may not pla y .
Protection This HDD & D VD RECORDER can allow you to protect the contents of your discs , as described below . • Programme-protected: See page 91 “Locking(Protecting) a Title” • Disc-protected: See page 115 “Disc Protection” ❋ D VD-RW/-R discs that are incompatible with the D VD-VIDEO format cannot be play ed with this product.

English - 23 C onnecting & Setting Up Case 3: Connecting to an A V amplifier with a digital output jack If your A V amplifier has a Dolby Digital, MPEG2 or DTS decoder and a digital input jack, use this connection. T o enjoy Dolby Digital, MPEG2 or DTS sound, you will need to set up the audio settings.
24 - English C onnecting & Setting Up Case 2 : Connecting to a TV with D VI Jack • Using the D VI Adapter Cable(not supplied), connect the HDMI OUT jack on the rear of the HDD & D VD RECORDER to the D VI IN jack of your TV .
English - 25 C onnecting & Setting Up ■ Wh y does Samsung use HDMI? Analog TVs require an analog video/audio signal. Howe ver , when pla ying a D VD , the data transmitted to a TV is digital. Therefore either a digital-to-analog conv er ter (in the HDD & D VD RECORDER) or an analog-to-digital conv er ter (in the TV) is required.
26 - English C onnecting & Setting Up ■ F or printing information, refer to the User's manual of the printer . ■ Depending on the printer , printing failure ma y occur . NOTE Case 1 : Connecting to PictBridge- supporting printer Connect the USB cable betw een the USB DEVICE on HDD & D VD RECORDER and USB por t on printer .
The on-screen menus allow y ou to enable or disable various functions on y our HDD & D VD RECORDER. Use the f ollowing buttons to open and na vigate through the on-screen menus. 1 MENU Button Press this button on the remote control to open the on-screen menu.
